“Insane levels of value are found in the big bucks wine 40to50% of prices in Manhatten.”
“After the wonderful anipasto tray came, it was 60 minutes before our plates were removed and dinner was brought.”
Everything is made in back, often at a glacial pace, but you are on Italian time when you are here. It requires a certain mental adjustment, and that, more than the food, make this place worth going to.
Quality Italian at its best.
I've been going to this place for decades. to put it simply, there isnt better italian food around.
Everything from the pasta, the pork, the chicken with radicchio its all cooked to perfection and is truly amazing. Even the bread before the meal is of top quality with olive oil imported from italy right on the table. Service is great ,all the waiter were friendly and made great sugestion. I HIGHLY reccomend it.
Authentic and down to Earth. I loved this place Husband and I had the best wine by recommendation of waiter (Anthony) the service was so friendly people on here are mentioning decor its simple and clean that is all I care about how many restaurants its all decorated and over priced with terrible food. This place is low key and I think that is a good thing - We are going back for SURE!!!
BETTER THEN DON PEPES!!!. I walked in and saw the old man, I felt like I was in a scene out of Donnie Brasco. Food was a deliecious, wine and service excellent
Amazing Italian food.. A Gem in LIC. Have been going there for approx 10 years and LOVE the food!!!!!!!!!! They treat everyone like family it doesn't matter if you are a regular or someone new. I would high recommend it to everyone!!!
Not worth the time or money. Totally and utterly forgettable. I simply can't imagine what the positive reviewers were experiencing. They did put a pitcher of water on our table, which was nice. And the bartender made a good, large Manhattan. Otherwise, no go.
not worth a lira. Totally agree with the previous two posts. Stay away from this place. Food has no flavor. Service is really bad. The entrance is the most horrible entrance that any restaurant could every have. A sad, disgusting, dirty bar and some tables full of bills and newspapers.
Inferior Southern Italian Cucina. I've tried this place twice and found it highly disappointing both times. I am Italian and have cooked and eaten many times in Italy, mainly Campania and Sicily. Manducatis is allegedly a Campanian/Neapolitan ristorante. They should be ashamed to disgrace their homeland with such undistinguished, even carelessly prepared food. Grilled vegetables were partly burnt. Veal chop bland and stringy. Insalata, horrible. There was nothing memorable about either of the two meals I had at this place, which, by the way, is a dump. Schifoso, as we say. Avoid it. If you're looking for outstanding and creative southern Italian cooking in Queens, try Rocco Sacramone's Trattoria L'Incontro in Astoria, which puts Manducatis to shame.
Stay Away!! Horrible!!!. I went there last night and it was a disaster all around. from the terrible service to the waiting and waiting and waiting.... we waited 1 hr for the appetizers which was a a cold antipasta and a calamari salad. the we waited 1 more hour for the entrees, which were never done b/c after an hour they come over and say they ran out??????????? r u kidding me... we got up and left...dont waste your time nor your money!!
Differences.... The first time I came here it was EXCELLENT! Such great food and service. I brought relatives in from out of town here the weekend before Valentine's Day and the service was HORRIBLE! We were all very annoyed. I asked for water 3 times over a 30 minute period when I first arrived before I recieved any. After the wonderful anipasto tray came, it was 60 minutes before our plates were removed and dinner was brought. Even after this long of a wait the women at the table didn't get their meals for another 10 minutes! Very tacky. We did clean our plates and I do reccommend the Tiramisu.
Exacting not slow.. The homecooking here is from scratch, so it stands to reason that you sip your wine ,talk to your table mate, relax a bit and go about life a bit slower. When you order the pasta its cooked for just you not preboiled and reheated. I love the fact that if I'm in a hurry the staff ,when told , can direct me to dishes that will get me out pronto. Pasta takes 13 to 15 min. to cook at home...same here its home..... just that its better at Ida's house than at yours. The wine in the cellar is not rushed why should you . Buffala Mozz./fresh tomato, split a pasta(Shrimp Ida) Pig if its the special and a wine from the cellar is why we have been comming back for over two decades our threegenerations and the three Cerbone generations It is not like home it IS HOME to us
