Editorial Review for Body Elite Sports Club – by Drew Pisarra
The Scene
This storefront gym gives the misleading first impression of being a small facility with its cardio theater occupying the entire first floor. But continue up the staircase beyond the elliptical trainers and you'll find a small spinning studio and another larger room well-stocked with upper body strength-training equipment. The third floor contains aparati for legs--including a squat rack that dates back to the gym's start in 1984--and a second studio, with an impressive cerulean domed ceiling, that houses classes in yoga, Pilates and the like. (The basement is reserved for stretching and one-on-one instruction.)
The Workout
Husband-and-wife team Robert and Robin Alimena aren't out for maximum profit. Body Elite is a low-key neighborhood gym with a small personal training staff, geared toward the independently minded exerciser. The complimentary orientation is literally that: a chance to get acquainted with the whereabouts, not a sales pitch for private sessions.

I have been to several gyms and health spas in my life and this one is by far the best! Very innovative and incredibly clean. The entire staff is knowledgable on all levels of fitness and nutrition. Body Elite offers a variety of services, classes, and state of the art equipment. The hours of business are fantastic since they open early and close very late. Very affordable and staff is super friendly and helpful. The trainers are wonderful and on top of their game in all facets of diet, exercise, and health. The owners are fantastic people and are always looking to better serve their clients. They try to resolve and work with their customers as much as they can. I can't understand how anyone could have a complaint when this club constantly delivers on all levels. I recommend this gym to anyone who is a health buff down to a beginner!
Pros: THUMBS UP ALL THE WAY!

I was signed up for a 1 year contract with no start up fee! Sounded great! During my year there I felt the gym was ok. It's too crowded at night, & this is mostly because it closes so early that if you have job (which everyone does) you have to go to the gym straight from work & everyone in the neighborhood (with jobs) is there as well. The classes they offer are great, but almost all classes are offered during the week day. Once again, if you work, you can't attend. I stopped going to the gym for a few months while I was going through finals at school & deadlines at work, when I returned the women at the front said (very loudly),"You haven't been here in months! You gotta start working out!". Not only was this a bit embarassing & rude, but I also don't need someone to be on my back about going to a gym I PAY for, I am hard on my self as it is. The year I signed up for ended in June, & I was not going to renew my contract. July comes & I was charged for the month. When I called to ask why I was charged for the month, they said I had to physically come in to cancel my contract? Last time I checked if you sign up for a year, after a year is over your contract is over. Well not in this case, the gym will continue to charge you until you can come in & cancel your contract that is already over anyways, this is in the fine print of the contract & not explained when signing up! I went into the gym to cancel & even though I wasn't going to be there all of July, they would not reimburse me the 70$ because I cancelled July 1st & had already been charged! The girl I talked to explained this nicely and apologized for them not explaining when I signed up. However, their boss walked in & was SO RUDE to me yelling I wouldn't get my money back for july even though it was the 1st & I wasn't going to use that month. Over all the staff (mostly there boss) is rude, it is crowded, not work friendly, and they will not accomodate you in anyway if you don't read & follow the FINE print!
Pros: Nice Facility in a Nice Neighborhood
Cons: Staff is rude, unaccomodation, not worker friendly!
