I, along with 4 other people answered an ad for a secretarial position with Rapid Realty. The ad clearly stated they were looking for secretaries/receptionists, and nothing about "agents." We were all called into a small glass room at the same time to listen to a speech about the ever growing company, and how much money can be made by showing apartments. Annoying loud music was coming over the speaker at the same time; I suppose as a distraction. One of us asked about the position advertised, and he said NO ONE can be a receptionist or anything else there until they take the courses that they give upstairs and get a real estate license. He added that they pay for the course. When asked over and over again, about the position advertised, he (David) caught an attitude and said he knew nothing about the ad. I asked if he thought it was ethical to misrepresent, in print, what they are looking for, in an effort to get people to work as agents. I mentioned the old "Bait and Switch" and he was getting angry. We mentioned that it isn't fair to get people to come to their office, people who are in need of real jobs and try to pitch them a different position. At one point he said,' There's the stairs...down and out." He wanted us to go. Rapid Realty is falsely advertising for positions they do not have. They are recruiting agents for apartment rentals and nothing more. When one girl asked why she would need a real estate license to answer phones, he actually said..."Because the receptionist closes the deals." WHAT? I know that their hiring practices are unethical, so I would certainly wonder about their real estate practices. When showing you are not really interested, they catch serious attitude and try to throw you out. Nasty place, cut throat people...Stay away.

I was interested in one of the online positings listed for this firm (it was even one with a fee!) and I contacted the representative the ad said had the listing. I was interested in this listing because a couple of months ago, the condo that was listed was for sale and my boyfriend LOVED it. We were not however, in love with the price. It would seem neither are other buyers as it has remained unsold up to this incident. When I saw it on Rapid Realty's website priced in a range I could afford, I jumped right on it. I called and had three separate conversations with D'Anthony whose cell phone came up Trevor on my caller ID. He confirmed the information. I agreed to see the condo with him. When I arrived at the condo PICTURED in the ad, I was told to go over two buildings. I was not happy. The ad I responded to was written for a "penthouse, two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a washer/dryer, a patio and an elevator ". The fee was one month's rent. When I arrive I was surprised to find that my broker thought I was imbecilic enough to believe the second floor walkup with Washer/dryer hookup, one bathroom and no patio was the same unit. His answer? Well someone must have just copied and pasted another listing over by accident. So I said, Fine, where's the number for the broker that listed the one you copied? He called the office and said that it was an error. How do you mistakenly copy a listing that isn't yours and put it on your website? He didn't even offer to apologize which pretty much sealed the deal for me on the fact that he had every intention of trying to pawn me off on a completely different apartment. Sorry, not that dumb or desperate. For those of you that put up with that cr@p, shame on you! You make it harder for everyone -- to everyone else, try em if you want but leave yourself time to turn around and walk away. If we stop paying for this sort of treatment, Rapid Realty will have to change or go out of business; the law of economics.

Pros: Couldn't say

Cons: Inadequate job performance, blatant attempt to defraud
