The Scene
Gilded columns, plush chairs, faux marble table tops and frames on the wall sporting Chinese relics, diorama-style, set the scene for Flushing's Chinatown families. Lunchtime diners are treated to an aromatic show at the large table in the back, as staff preps fresh vegetables for dinner rush.
The Food
The dizzying choice of 200 dishes satisfy palates ordinary (shrimp and broccoli, chicken with cashew) to adventurous (jelly fish in sesame oil, rabbit tendons in red chili). Szechuan specialties especially stand out, such as cold sesame noodles with the perfect salty, nutty, spicy balance and satiny tofu dressed in fiery pork chili sauce. Even the messy dishes are worth exploring--diners gladly weather tiny bones for succulent, chili-tinged frog meat and suffer the shells for delicate ginger and garlic-infused crab. All of the flavoring is so clean and unmuddled that fans return often hoping to conquer the entire menu.

The food here is pretty good and reasonably priced. A dish could probably feed about 2, but I say you try different plates and take the rest to go. This place is special in that they have many lamb dishes. Basically everything is in Chinese, but there are small translations on the menus. The service is alright, but the food is definitely spicy and tasty.

the beef tendon here is very good, OH SO GOOD (better than momofuku ssam!). the sliced conch is seriously phenomenal, spectacular. cold jelly chengdu style was super delicious and neat/different. the pork blod cake pork intestine and bean sprout in hot sauce kind of pushed it with me at first -- i love black sausage (not that these two things are similar at all), but the pork blod cake rubbed me the wrong way (i've never had it before, and it's not necessarily something i said "where has this been all my life?!?!?!" about) but the intestines were good and the dish was over all very very good. i've had other dishes but can't remember them at this time. i will write more reviews... an aside, of authentic Sichuan/Szechuan eateries/dishes i like Spicy Tasty's "braised" (which basically means a bowl of soup, different oils and vegetables) the best. i want to know this place better, I am not Chinese and don't speak Chinese, and nobody here speaks English (thankfully, pointing and nodding and smiling gets the job done) fyi, citysearch wouldn't let me type two Os in "blod" -sorry
