What People Are Saying About Fontana Famous Pizza & Gyro
Diarrhea anyone?
by foodcritic300 at Citysearch
I had heard from a friend that this place supposedly had the best gyros around, so one day my friend and I decided to test that theory. We actually drove from Astoria all the way there to sample their gyros-but what a mistake. We ordered one gyro each and they looked pretty good on the outside. However, after eating half way through, my friend noticed his gyro meat was reddish looking. He stopped but I ended up eating the whole thing, unfortunately. Long story short, my friend I and both end up getting a mix of bloating, heartburn, and bad diarrhea. What makes me mad is that you work hard for your money and you spend the effort to go eat at this place and you end up getting food poisoning. If it just happened to me fine, but when it happens to two people, then its not a coincidence-it means the place is just dirty. Eat at your own risk.
- Pros: hospital near by
- Cons: food makes you sick

It is one of the best places to go for a gyro! my boyfriend and I go there often. I highly recommend you to go and try one. if there are no tables available just wait the time goes by fast.
Name may say Pizza, but it's all Gyro, baby

One of the best gyros in Queens. The portion is big and the high turnover means the meat does not dry up on the pit. I have not tried the pizza, and it does not seem to be ordered by many customers. Stick with the greek menu items, like gyro and souvlaki. It's a bit messy, but ask for extra sauce.
- Pros: Big portions of juicy meat in the gyros
- Cons: Decor is about 5 steps below a diner
