Where the airplanes overhead are almost as loud as the Mets fans.. In Short
The Mets' '60s-era home may lack the historical charm of Yankee Stadium, but Shea is definitely the more charmingly eccentric of the two. Its location right near Laguardia Airport guarantees a ceaseless barrage of airplane noise to add to the spirited cheers and jeers. Then there's the mechanical apple that pops out of a giant top hat to celebrate Mets home runs. All of this gives Shea a heartening touch of Coney Island-like weirdness.

Meet the Mets. I've been a Mets fan all of my life, so I must recommend Shea Stadium to everyone seeking a true New York experience. The loudest, most loyal baseball fans in the world cheering for the Amazin's. Take in the electric atmosphere during a game with the Yankees, you'll never forget it.

Over the Hill. This ballpark was obsolete the day it opened! Met players and fans have had to but up with this Robert Moses inspired dump since 1964. NOthing could make this park charming although many have tried. New stadium, please!

Rather generic.... Shea doesn't have a whole lot going for it -- other than it's big and round and there's plenty of parking. It's not bad in any particular way, just kind of boring. But, hey, if you're a baseball fan -- you come here to watch baseball and not admire the architecture. Still, a new facility is in order - but people have been saying that for a long, long time.

A Pit. Really, this must be one of the ugliest stadiums in the world. Thank god for the giant TV screen.
