A strictly no-frills Elmhurst motel..
The Scene
This motel is sandwiched between a beautifully refurbished middle school, a Bally's and a Korean supermarket in a highly diverse part of Flushing. A pretty, if kitschy, frosted and etched glass double door forms the entryway to an otherwise disappointing welcome. With its mirrors, distinctly 1970s-style furniture and vending machines, the lobby--just big enough to turn around in--looks as if it belongs in a senior center.
The Details
Rooms are rock-bottom plain, with a single double bed, phone, color cable TV and nothing else, not even a coffee maker. Don't expect the red carpet treatment here. The no-nonsense staff is brisk, bordering on rude. When the tiny parking lot overflows, you can park in one of the many spots on the street.
