Great Rolls - Don't Tell Anyone.. I was completely surprised and blown away by the sushi. They spent about 12 cents on the decor but clearly have invested the rest in the sushi. The rolls have pieces of fish instead of scrapings like other places I could mention nearby (but I don't want to be labeled as an operative). Love the Luba roll and Diana roll. I even hesitate to write this because I don't want the to secret to get out. I work in Manhattan and I casually mentioned that I lived in Forest Hills at work once and someone actually mentioned that they go to Mickey's. They live in Brooklyn! I only found it because it's near the subway. Be forewarned that they only take American Express.
Best Sushi in Queens. Mickeys is better known for the Sushi. The other plates are okay, but it's the Fresh Sushi that keeps me coming back. Super Friendly and attentive staff. The decor, I will not lie, looks like a hole in the wall, but don't let that fool you. When the place is filled up, your orders WILL take a while to get to you. There are only 2-3 sushi chefs. I feel that the sushi is reasonably priced. You can order off the menu and it's just a pleasant experience each time I go there.
Try other restaurants instead. the sushi was not bad, but that was the only good thing i can say about the place. First of all, the way the restaurant looks like it would turn off even a homeless man. The place even smells a little funny. The soup taste terrible and the atmosphere feels like you are in a basement. The food also takes way to long to cook. The prices are not that reasonable considering the quality of the food. I came to this place because I saw the ratings of others. But i am here to tell you guys not to try this restaurant. There are a few other better sushi places down queens boulevard not to far from mickey's such as SATO and other japanese cuisines. Try those out!!
Great while it lasted..
Mickey's was closed by order of New York City Board of Health in 2005.
Perhaps they didn't know whom to pay off.
Best Sushi!!!!.
I've been to all the BIG name sushi places in NY and after trying Mickey's Place i don't think i'll ever go to another. Warm and Friendly Staff, realy FAMILY atmosphere!
A must Try!!!
Love this place. I always thought that the best Sushi was in Manhattan....Think again...A friend of mine recommended this place and let me tell you, it rivals any top notch sushi joint. The fish is was fresh and tasty. I have eaten at some of the best places in Manhattan and this compares and may even be better. This is the ONLY place in Queens that I will get my sushi.
