What People Are Saying About Queens Sewer Services Plumbing Repair

This is the kind of Thai food some consider unattainable in Manhattan. The atmosphere is squeaky clean and no-nonsense: Tables for two can be pushed together to accommodate groups--if there's room. A good way to judge a Thai spot is by its green curry: The all-Thai staff here fashions it spicy and smooth, filled to bursting with meat and thin-sliced bamboo shoots. Shrimp papaya salad could set you on fire, but not everything is spicy. Chicken-coconut soup strikes a good balance between sour and the raw, gingery taste of galangal.

Editor's Tips

Where to Sit:
Ask to sit in the leafy garden hidden behind the kitchen--the ambience is much more pleasant.
Know Before You Go:
Once the clock strikes 10, staff wants to get out of there. So get your orders in early--including dessert.
The Extras:
Inexpensive homemade treats are stacked in plastic containers all ready to go. Take one home with you.
Know Before You Go:
There's a strict no-reservations policy, but even when the weekend line goes out the door, the vibe stays happy and laid-back.
ambiance
93.75% positive
  1. Tough to get nice ambience in that section of Woodside, but no one really goes here for a romantic dinner.
  2. My first visit for a friend's bday was pretty no frills: the food was good, the atmosphere mediocre.
  3. The decor and the service definitely is not the greatest, but I can overlook those things since their food is just so damn good.
  4. It was a pleasant atmosphere, with great food and all reasonably priced.
  5. The renovation was worth the wait; more space, nice decor and price remains very reasonable.
  6. The decor was nothing to brag about but the place is clean and comfortable.
  7. The decor there is nothing special, though somehow the service manages to deal with the large crowds in an efficient, friendly manner.
  8. This is place is just for food- not for ambience, a beautiful dining experience or relaxation.
dessert
100.0% positive
  1. Shrimp cake was awesome.
  2. The wine was not over-priced and the coconut ice cream was probably the best I've had.
  3. Oh The good quality Fish Cake or Shrimp cake supposed to be a bit chewy and bouncy, not just soft.
drinks
87.5% positive
  1. The thai iced coffee with condensed milk is the best I've tried.
  2. Four of us, at a small table, ordered a ton of food, including amazing Lychee wine, and wondered how it would all fit on the table.
  3. While both entrees were acceptable, the best thing about the entire meal was the $4 Thai beer.
  4. Decent wine list and beer selection.
  5. The Thai iced tea was warm even with ice in it.
  6. Seafood is fresh, drinks are wonderful.
  7. If you do happen to order your food spicy I recommend the iced coffee with milk to cool your tounge (it also taste really good.
  8. It took 3 times to get our drink order right (all we ordered were soft drinks), and it took multiple requests to get us utensils to enjoy our soup, which was brought out in the wrong size originally.
  9. Disappointingly, they now seem to have a full bar complete with the usual crummy, mass produced Californians at 4x-5x markup.
  10. The wine was not over-priced and the coconut ice cream was probably the best I've had.
  11. The service was horrible - it took about 15mins before ANYONE even came over to our table for drink orders, to which we took the opportunity to order dinner as well.
  12. They have a photo menu that even shows what the drinks look like, which is a really great help.
food quality

  1. Rated tops by Zagat and totally deserved, this is one of the best Thai food festaurant I have ever eaten at.

  3. Definitely take the trip to Woodside if you really want authentic and inexpensive Thai food.
  4. The catfish salad is a good and unusual appetizer but it's incredibly spicy (and I usually eat spicy but it was so spicy I had to stop eating it).

  15. He said that even in Thailand natives say this is the ONLY restaurant in NYC to get good home cookin' Thai food.
  16. (Chicken Basil: good and spicy; Chicken pad thai: great; Panang Chicken: incredible; curry puffs: good; spring rolls: good and a lot of them; tum yum soup: good and spicy).

  18. Great thai food, like no other Thai restaurant I've been to in New York.
  19. good food, decent prices
  20. Each dish was flavorful and authentic (according to my friends who just got back from Thailand).
  21. Their menu is extensive and has everything from noodles to rice dishes to curry, fish, soups.
  22. It took 3 times to get our drink order right (all we ordered were soft drinks), and it took multiple requests to get us utensils to enjoy our soup, which was brought out in the wrong size originally.
  23. Some of you who like plain Thai dishes that most restaurants adjust the western taste to it, you might not like Sripraphai.
  24. did like their chicken satay but it wasn't the best satay and not worth the price.
  25. Thai food like they eat in Thailand
  26. If you know variety of real Thai dishes, you will like this place a lot.
  27. recommend it to anyone who enjoys authentic Thai food.
  28. Sripraphai has pretty darn authentic Thai cuisine.
  29. This restaurant clearly has the best Thai food in New York.
  30. Some of my favorite dishes are the papaya salad with dry shrimp and peanuts, the green mango salad, the pad see ew, the shrimp with curry sauce and mushroom (very spicy!)
  31. good, authentic thai
  32. It was a delicious experience.
  33. As for the food: My father and I are vegetarian and our dishes were pretty good but perhaps the dishes that people rave about so much are not (though I can't say my mom was in love with her duck dish either).
  34. liked their food.
  35. Great Thai food and good quantity
  36. To enjoy Sripraphai the most, I recommend if you have Thai friends who can expose you to new delicious dishes other than RED/GREEN or Pad Thai or drunken noodles.
  37. The dirty linoleum floors and plastic lawn chairs are gone, but it still manages to serve up some of the best and most authentic Thai food I have tried in NY (I lived in Bangkok and consider myself a fair judge of Thai authenticity).
  38. If you do happen to order your food spicy I recommend the iced coffee with milk to cool your tounge (it also taste really good.
  39. The noodles were so fiery it couldn't be eaten without a few ice cold beverages.
  40. The service is good with reasonable price, the cook is handsome and talented, I love the food here, they are special and yummy just the same as the real thai food.
  41. The food is authentic and fresh and their service is pretty good as well.
  42. Authentic Thai food, Good value
  43. If you show up expecting great Thai food, are willing to read the bookish menu, ask questions, you'll have a great dining experience.
  44. waiter/waitresses.... YOU KNOW its good Thai food is you see Thai customers in there.
  45. The staff isn't the most attentive; however food is usually served promptly.
  46. would definitely recommend trying this place out at least once and deciding for yourself if bad service vs. great food is a fair deal.
  47. They make the best beef satay that I have ever had.
  48. it was a big order and very tasty.
  49. Four of us, at a small table, ordered a ton of food, including amazing Lychee wine, and wondered how it would all fit on the table.
  50. The food is good - but it is by no means the best in the city.
  51. This place suits people who want to discover new Thai dishes with rich and authentic taste.
  52. had the chinese broccoli with salted fish, satay chicken (HUGE strips) and the barbecued pork.
  53. Coconut chicken soup is done perfectly- the right amount of sourness, rich sweetness and spice make it a meal in itself.
  54. Coming from a thai person, I can truly say this is one of the only authentic, good thai food restaurants that you can find in NYC.
  55. The crispy watercress salad was so delicious that I devoured the squid, something I'd normally shy from.
  56. Their Chicken Green Curry dish is DELICIOUS.
  57. Excellent and delicious thai food
  58. Everything was so ridiculosly delicious, that we scraped each generously-laden plate clean (no leftovers!)
  59. So far my understanding the management don't care about the service because the food is good and if the owner think the same way then I have nothing to say.

  65. Excellent, excellent food.
  66. Overall, excellent food with sub-par service.
  67. The most Authentic Thai food you will ever find
  68. The food, as many say, was good and flavorful, though I don't think it deserves the Zagat's 27 (I'm thinking more like a 23).
  69. I'm not sure the food makes up for that but it certainly distracts you while an order or two are being redone.
  70. AVOID THIS PLACE, there are much better authentic thai restaurants with better food and service.
  71. Drunken noodles are fantastic.
  72. fresh, authentic, great value
  73. So I ate the curry alone -- it was too oily, although the fact that it was far too spicy (full disclosure: I almost *never* think anything is too spicy) kind of masked the taste.
  74. Their cocunut rice is PERFECT.
  75. The mango salad with squid, chicken and shrimp was refreshing and absolutely delicious.
  76. Sripraphai is simply the best Thai food restaurant in the city.
  77. The only thing it has going for it is that the food is delicious.
  78. With the lack of authentic Thai restaurants, it was a nice surprise.
  79. It's the best Thai food I've had this side of Hoboken, NJ.
  80. My first visit for a friend's bday was pretty no frills: the food was good, the atmosphere mediocre.
  81. The food here was amongst the best Thai food I've tasted; since this seems to be a high-volume,low profit margin joint, there is the inevitable trade-off in efficiency- not the best service, longer waits etc.I went in just before the purported closing tim
  82. We ordered a variety of dishes for a group and everything was delicious and the perfect degree of spicy (i would recommend that those who like spice but have never experience 'Thai spicy' start with 'medium spicy').
  83. Their seafood is fresh-- have their fried soft-shell crab, or their whole fish with red chiles and basil.
  84. Amazing food and gracious service at an incredible price.
  85. Definitely not impressed by the food and service but there were a lot of people there having dinner.
  86. Their drunken noodles are excellent as well.
  87. the food was also affordable and inexpensive.
  88. The food was inexpensive, the staff was friendly, the taste was not watered down to meet the needs of people who cannot really tollerate spiece, the flavor was authentic and delicious, the service was fast and seating was almost always available.
  89. The food wasnt terrible but it was not worth the trouble!
  90. The food is excellent, but ever since this very popular restaurant has expanded a few years ago, you don't feel treated as special as the smaller Thai establishments in Queens, and that makes a difference.
  91. The restaurant itself is not much to look at, but the food was delicious.
  92. Excellent food.
  93. hadn't been here in a while (before the renovations and expansion) but the food is still just as good.
  94. My mother was Thai, and I grew up on great Thai food here and in Bangkok, so I'm not just talking out my you-know-what.
  95. Drunken noodles with ground pork, fried soft-shell crab with mango salad, and green curry is my current order.
  96. Crunchy, sweet and tart, it was the best thai dish I've ever had.

  98. The food is so authentic and prices are great.
  99. Kao Soy chicken was awesome.
  100. It was a pleasant atmosphere, with great food and all reasonably priced.
  101. When we were done, with perfect precision, our other dishes appeared.
  102. also recommend the chinese broccoli with crispy pork dish.
  103. Dishes that stood out: Crispy Watercress w/ Chicken, Shrimp, and Squid (sounds weird, but is really good), Roast Duck Salad, Crispy Pork w/ Chinese Broccoli, Pork leg w/ mustard greens, and the best were the Chinese Watercress and Chinese Broccoli - so fr
  104. Best Thai food in NYC
  105. Great drunken noodles and curry dishes, delicious hot soups and absolutely attentive and friendly service.
  106. Pad See Yew is standard but you're better off getting more flavorful dishes.
  107. I'm a convert - Thai food can be awesome!
  108. I've ordered some dishes at Sripraphai that I've absolutely loved and I've ordered dishes that were practically inedible.
  109. The appetizers are reasonably sized, but you better bring your appetite for the entrees, because you are going to get more delicious food than you can handle.
  110. The food is just as good as another Thai place that's about ten blocks away, Arunee Thai.
  111. My family and I enjoy spicy food so towards the end of the meal, we were tearing and had runny noses.
  112. That being said, it's still delicious and a good bet when things are not too crowded.

Worth the Trip Every Time!!!

by roadetot

With as many Thai restaurants as NYC has to offer, it is a wonder that anyone would take the trouble of trekking over to Woodside - unless, of course, the trek is to Sri Pra Phai. This unassuming and rather spacious, by NY standards, Thai haven will wow your palate with more seafood, meat and vegetarian dishes than you can imagine, cooked to perfection with enough creativity and spice to make your mouth water and keep you riding the 7 train for more. Sit in the garden on summer nights and enjoy a glass of wine (limited selection) with your culinary treats. Enjoy!

Food and Service are terrible

by persian88

I completely agree with the reviews posted by Madmags and David321. This restaurant has received some attention from the press and apparently those reporters/food critics either were paid a little something on the side to give such rave reviews OR they don't have a clue as to what is good Thai food.

My wife ordered the meatballs, same as Madmags and my description of that dish is exactly what Madmags wrote. Can we say mystery meat?! On top of everything else, one of the waiters had such bad BO that I thought there was a mangy dog somewhere in the courtyard with us. It smelled like a dog with wet hair that hadn't been bathed in weeks. My wife was feeling sick from all the disgusting smells permeating the entire place.

I don't know how this restaurant has received such notoriety. We will NEVER go back. The food and service are awful.

If I may, I'd like to suggest, Nusara. A small little Thai place on Broadway (corner of Elmhurst Ave) in Elmhurst, Queens. It's in the strip of restaurants next to the Chinese supermarket. Service is very good and food is very tasty.

Definitely Not Worth the Hype

by Madmags

Having read all the great reviews we decided to try Sripraphai last Saturday night. We were seated right away and ordered what we thought was going to be an excpetional meal. We started with the grilled "Beef" meatballs in a spicy plum sauce. The appetizer arrived and to tell you the truth I am not sure what kind of meat this was but it certainly was no beef we've ever eaten. The "meat" was so chewy that you couldn't even cut it properly and it had such an odd rubbery consistency that I could not eat it with dousing it in the sauce. My husband ordered the pad thai and I ordered the Red curry with beef. While both entrees were acceptable, the best thing about the entire meal was the $4 Thai beer. We got home and both had such upset stomachs that we probably won't be back. There are many other Thai restaurants that we enjoy more.

OMG! what a terrible service in Sripraphai

by David321

Oh my gosh! what a terrible service in Sripraphai

On January 3rd, Sunday at about 8:45 we, two families, went to this restaurant. When we entered the restaurant we figured it out was almost empty. One of the waitress with a glasses( lately we found her name is Key) approached and put us, altogether 6 people, in the middle of the restaurant but we like to sit in the corner. She told us rudely that they were closing at 9:30 which was after 45 minutes. We were surprise why she was worried and at the same time we felt uncomfortable to sit at the middle of the restaurant but we console ourself. Again a waiter was chatting with a loud voice in a cashier counter which was annoying. Before we check the menu the same waitress came to take the order and unfortunately we don't know the menu. Meanwhile my wife was giving order, I found other server was bringing some food to our table and that was not our order. Then my nice liked to explain her but she got made with my nice. I requested my wife to match with her and do some additional order for take out and when we got that order, that was mistake too. So my wife was trying to figured it out why the mistake was happening one after another then the waitress Key exploded with my wife in the middle of the restaurant. When I interrupted to minimized with the waitress and asked her to send the manager and then she told me to go to cashier counter and talk to the manager because the manager is not coming to me. I never ever heard in my life this kind of answer from wait staff. Then one of the girl came to us and told us no need to complain about them and they will give the food on the house but we don't agree with her and pay the entire bill which was $156 along with gratuity. The same waitress, Key, was repeatedly screaming us and we felt so embarrass in front of other customers and also the manager never showed up. So far my understanding the management don't care about the service because the food is good and if the owner think the same way then I have nothing to say.
