I agree with the majority of reviewers. Zanzibar is a great place for after work drinks or a late night hang out spot. Delicious drinks, nice atmosphere and good service are a very good combination.
Pros: Drinks, Atmosphere, Service

Simply put, Zanzibar it quite possibly the worst bar I've been to and I have lived in NYC for 5 years. I really don't think I saw one friendly face on their staff. Aside from the drinks being horribly overpriced and weak, the bartenders and waitresses were flat out rude. The appetizers and food we ordered were mediocre at best and took forever to be served. Trying to get the waitresses attention was an uphill battle and everyone in my party was extremely politely and we kept getting dismissed. I will never go to this bar ever again. Do yourself a favor when you see Zanzibar, just keep on walking there are a plenty of much better bars in the nearby Hells Kitchen area. What a headache, they should rethink their management!
Pros: None
Cons: Service, Service, Drink prices, Weak Drinks, Food

Had my 30th bday party here last week and my friends and I had a blast! The staff was so easy to work with in setting everything up. We ordered (way too much) food ahead of time and went with a bar tab. The food was great, and the drinks flowed freely without breaking the bank. I'm still not sure how none of us had been here before. Our waitress Maria was a sweetie and always available. We were in the fireplace room and the half we had was perfect for our group of 25. The DJ played fun music but was not intrusive, so you could have a conversation and still feel like you're at a party. The one snag: a friend was given a hard time at the door for wearing a tshirt, but when I went out to let them know he was with the party they let him in without issue (or greasing). Overall a fabulous place for a party- I will definitely have events here again in the future.
Pros: Everything

I've passed Zanzibar everyday for a year without going in - but I'm glad to say I've finally succombed the compfy sofas and chilled out music nights. Seriously, the most friendly relaxed staff you will find and generally an all round non city type pub in town. Top marks.

Went here after work with a bunch of friends. Really liked the signature drinks and the waitstaff was very social and available. We got some food to share amongst us and it was quite tasty. The crowd was really cool as well. We'll be back
Pros: Drinks, Scene, Waitstaff
Cons: none

I recently threw a surprise birthday here last weekend for my boyfriend and I would recommend this above and beyond any other location in NYC for a party. Believe me, I searched long and hard for the ideal location. The room we got was beautiful and just the right size, we had our own server who was very gracious and provided quick service, and the DJ was hot. Zanzibar's manager was so friendly and helpful which made planning the party a breeze. I got nothing but rave reviews from all the attendees especially because there was no charge to get in, no coat check fee, and, most importantly, no doorman drama. If you're looking for somewhere to hold your next party, you've come to the right place!!!
Pros: Everything!!!
Cons: Absolutely none

A bunch of my friends meet up at Zanzibar once in a while, we love this relaxing, cool place. The food is surprisingly sophisticated and good for a lounge, so try it. Music is always good, creating the right vibe. And the drinks, let's not forget the drinks: awesome.
Pros: food, drinks, music

We had so much fun at this place, I can't even tell you. We work near by and visit quite often. Last weekend we got together for a colleagues' going away party and we had a blast. The space is very unique, very loungy. The back room is great and cozy. The best part are the drinks, always good. Try the signature drinks, they are the best. The food is pretty amazing too. The papaya salad and tuna tartar are my favorites. The service is always very friendly, but when they are full it takes a minute or two to get your order. The crowd is very good looking and fun... Love the music too. Great place to chill and hang out. Not pretentious.
Pros: Great atmosphere, great looking crowd
Cons: gets crowded on the weekends

This bar is a lot of fun, pretty big with a good DJ. The drinks are SO pricey though, and not even that good.
