Madison Square Garbage

by citybug6768

Let me ask you one question: Why is this place called the world's most famous arena? The Rangers have one title in 68 years, and just think about the state of the Knicks. If you are a tourist looking for a famous arena to check out on your trip to NYC, think about making the trip out to beautiful Long Island. Out there you will find the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum, the home of the 4x Stanley Cup champion New York Islanders. I'm not sure if they run tours, but you will feel the aura of the place just by standing in the parking looking at it. MSG is old, it's the home of losing teams, and is a very overrated building. 1940.

Sporting Events

by mikemogs

To be back at the Garden was GREAT! You step into this beautiful building you feel the history, you still hear the Ranger fans echos when Mark Messier hoisted the Stanley Cup! The food and drinks, although on the high side as any other sports facility were very good. I can't wait to go back!

  • Pros: The fans, the atmosphere and the history!
  • Cons: I don't live close enough!

The world-famous arena for sporting events, pop shows and traffic-stopping conventions.

by Karen Hudes

The Venue
This trademark stadium first became part of the New York landscape in 1879, and was subsequently rebuilt several times over the next century, undergoing its latest major renovation--with VIP amenities--in 1991 for the Democratic National Convention. It currently has a seating capacity of nearly 20,000 in the main arena, and up to 5,600 in its separate family-oriented theater. On-site eateries include the Play by Play and the Club Bar & Grill, plus additional sports bars and food courts.

The Experience
The venue hosts Knicks, Rangers and Liberty games, as well as touring superstars from Madonna to Prince. Other events include the annual Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, in addition to high-profile political and business conventions, notably the Republican National Convention in 2004.

"the World's Most Famous Arena"

by utah

yep, thats right MSG is no joke. home to the Knicks and Rangers, MSG has hosted tons of great sporting events and concerts. I've been here for 2 pearl jam concerts and a Flyers-Rangers game. it's in the heart of midtown NYC so after the game/concert you can catch a cab and hit the town
