At least the drinks and the manager are yummy

My friends and I usually go to this place at least once a week. Though we don't always eat here, we love the drinks, and the crowd. The few times we have had dinner here, I've found the waitresses to be rude and arrogant. The African American girl can be quite flippant, and almost behaves as if you are putting at her at an inconvenience when you ask for something.
My girlfriends and I quite like the manager, Greg though. He's always pleasant, friendly, and fun. He's quite cute as well.
If you're looking for good service, and good food, go elsewhere. If you're looking for great drinks, lots of good music, a great crowd, and a yummy French manager, go here!
- Pros: Cute French Manager, great drinks, fun crowd
- Cons: rude wait staff

I use to love this spot because Marcello use to always be such a great host...the current manager is kind of rude ... the food and ambiance still rocks though!
BAD SERVICE

I went there with a friend who is also a waitress... The Hostess was rude and pretentious, as well as the waitress...
The food and cocktails were very good though. Then we wanted to go outside to have a cigarette and the hostess jumped on us to ask for our credit card (Even if my coat and handbag was still inside...).
As a waitress my friend always push me to give 20% for the Tip but as the service was so bad (long, not attentionate, you have the feeling to bother them everytime you ask for something, ect...) she was the one who push me to only tip 15%. There was actually NO SERVICE at all
- Pros: Food, cocktails
- Cons: SERVICE

I used to go there with my best friend every Sat night. I still go there occasionally!
The food is so good "yummy"! The staff is the friendliest and love the atmosphere! It's such a cool place to hang out with friends, it feels like home ha! I really recommend people to go there if you wanna just have a drink and chill! Or have authentic food! You meet people from all over! Love that place and the good memories!
Customers cheated and threatened

Went there recently and was charged for orders we did not place. We asked the african american waitress to clarify and void. She told us we were lying and proceeded to call the manager. The manager lady insisted that we placed the orders and said "I always side with my staff, NOT the customers". She then told us she would call the cops if we did not pay up. The bartender butted in and told us to GET OUT of the place (after we had paid of course). For an order of $12, this place not only lost customers but have also earned our wrath. We want to spread the word to as many people as possible.
Also, when I approached the African American waitress and asked her why she lied...she giggled and said.."as long as you pay the bill".
Lastly, I dare the general manager to post his contact information so we can speak with him.
- Cons: Threaten consumers
Rude and Pretentious Staff

Went here on a Saturday night with a buddy and was denied service at the bar because, according to the pretentious, faux-intellectual French bartender, we lacked "class"! To be fair, we had been drinking elsewhere and there was some confusion about our initial order, which we returned. However, just because the lazy bartender has been a little inconvenienced should not be a reason to completely deny service. If we were talking a little too loud or something, an appropriate and "classy" response would be to explain this as opposed to getting into a huff and pouting. Why should I be made to feel like it is some kind of privilege to be in your restaurant? It's not like this is some exclusive place packed with celebrities.
Whatever happened to good service anyway? It amazes me how bad restaurants and bars can survive in New York just because they are either "trendy" (which this place is not) or in a good location (which this place is). I worked as a waiter and busboy throughout high school and college, so I know a thing or two about the service industry, and I always try to treat service (and other) people with respect. Shouldn't I expect the same thing back? Especially as a client?!! Can you imagine treating your clients this way at a white-collar professional job?
It's too bad, because this place does have a great decor and feel to it.
Awful service and too hot!

Went here on Saturday night for a friends birthday and were a party of 6. Overall, I'd say the food was pretty good, with the exception of the steak tartar that contained pieces of steak that were just way too chunky. Aside from the decent food and drinks, the real 2 problems of the night were how HOT it was in the actual restaurant and how AWFUL the service was. Judging from the editorial review of this place, they pride themselves on "flinging open" the windows. That's nice if it's a cool breezy summer night... not a sweltering humid one! There is an AC unit on the wall near the bathrooms which they had on but what good does that do if the windows to the whole joint are wide open? The only people that got to enjoy the affects of the AC were the 5 or so tables seated near it which you couldn't pay me to sit in those seats because everyone is standing on line around your table waiting for the bathrooms that are right there staring at you eat! The service is just plain awful here. I really hope that the manager that wrote a review on here actually is reading these other reviews and is taking them into account because honestly, the service is pretty close to one of the worst experiences I've ever had. Our waitress was basically non existant. The poor bus boy was doing ALL the work! We had to chase the waitress down every time we wanted a drink refill, never came by to take our order so we had to chase again after 20 min and it seemed like she has a serious attitude problem. They were putting the food on the table and not watching where they were placing it and were knocking the bowls of olive oil over. One of the dishes we ordered was the seafood paella and they didn't even bring a bowl over for the shells! Worst yet, on the bill they had the nerve to add 20% gratuity! Most places that include gratuity it's only 18%- tops. I don't mind paying for good service, but she sucked! Hope she tipped the bus boy out well b/c he was the one deserving of a tip.
- Pros: most food was pretty decent
- Cons: SERVICE, too hot and cramped, steak tartar
Doesn't even deserve one star!

I was there last night with a friend from out of town to show them a true NY experience and the bartender was rude and just plain awful! Not what I had in mind. The food was good. Would've ordered more food if it weren't for him. I would never ever go there in a million years. Attention all New Yorkers if you want horrible and rude service this is the place to go to!!! There a hundreds of other places in the city to go to this guy made you feel like it was a privelege for you to sit at the bar.

My friend was staying with me in SoHo last night and told me about this great place Cafe Noir. The three of us decided to go for some tapas and wine since we wanted to do something low key on Wednesday. This place is great!! All of the tapas we ordered were great, especially loved the hummus and the grilled veggie pizza. The ambiance is great.. a little romantic for going with just friends. There were couples all around us making out. A great date place though from what I could see!! We will definitely be back!
- Pros: great tapas, wine, sangria
- Cons: only can pay in cash or with amex
