Great park!

by lulu0418 at Citysearch

I consider this one of the best small parks in the city. It's right in the middle of mayhem but manages to feel comfortable and inviting. Love the rotating art exhibits -- add a little culture!

And even if the line is long, the original Shake Shack is a great place to grab a bite. (I suggest the 'shroom burger. Delish!)

  • Pros: Plenty of park benches; Shake Shack; playground; dog run
  • Cons: None!

Relaxing Lunch Spot

by sak941 at Citysearch

Used to work on 29th & Madison and this was a great place to relax and eat lunch. They have chairs and tables around the park that can be used and many places nearby to run in and grab a quick lunch to take with you.

Reopened since June 2001, this renovated park is another rags-to-riches story for the Department of Parks and Recreation.

Overview
Designated a public space in 1847, this leafy glade was home to the original Madison Square Garden and has always enjoyed a place of prominence along Ladies Mile. After falling into disrepair for a time, the dusty park was finally returned to its original grandeur with a much needed $12 million facelift. Its reflecting pool, nifty rubber-padded children's playground and Jemmy's dog run stand along gently curving flagstone paths lush with white roses, snap
dragons and hydrangeas in summer.

Features and Attractions
It was the first venue to publicly display Lady Liberty's right torch-bearing arm, and that giant disembodied limb makes it much easier to embrace the park's public art push, Target Art in the Park, which features temporary installations. As for the permanent counterpart, bronze statues--from Roscoe Conkling to Chester Alan Arthur--stand like a collection of historical also-rans, Arthur's presidency notwithstanding.
