happy new year
by titou at Citysearch
A very special place...with a friendly staff a big menu and a beautifull decor....a perfect day for me in east village is a lunch at Mogador and a dinner at Casimir....so when my friends told me that they were at casimir i decided to join them for a drink and maybe more...after a pastis at the bar, i had the boudin noir with a good red wine from the rhone valley...it was perfect...i can't wait to go back for a couscous with merguez ...thank you and happy new year...

Been here twice before b/c we live in the area. My mother-in-law came into town and we made a mistake of coming in 15 min early. The door was open so we didn't realise the place was not operating yet. We walked in & 3 of the wait staff in a matter of 3 minutes told us the place was still closed(why was the door open then?). Instead of telling us to wait by the bar till they got things set up, they all gave us a nasty looks as we stood by the door. Our mom asked 1 of them if she could use the bathroom and he pretended like he didn't hear her & walked right past her. Spare yourself the nuisance and take a pass on Casimir. Other businesses deserve the patronage when eating out is a luxury nowadays.
- Pros: Nice ambience & music
- Cons: Nasty staff, especially going there on Sunday
best night ever!!!!

I Went to Casimir French bistrot on Ave B, on Friday night with 2 of my girls that was girls night!
The restaurant was packed, we had a drink at the bar waiting for a table. The bartender (my god! very good looking with a thick french accent and beautiful tattoo!!!!!) made us cocktails with fresh ginger juice we had 2 each!!! sooo good! I want to go back just for it and for him!!!
The manager ( an other very cute frenchy) gave us an adorable table next to the garden door.
Bread and water were on the table in no time.
A waitress very sweet ( Japanese i believe) came to tell us the specials and take our order.
I am craaazy about "steack tartare" and i saw it on the menu! One of my friend took the special duck pan roasted glazed with a dry cherry sauce the other one the fish stew "la frioule".
To start we ordered to share la "parisienne salad' a mix of beets lentils carrots eggplant caviar and hard boil egg.
We had a such amazing diner! everything was delicious i love the tartare there and the duck was phenomenal I didn't try the fish stew but my friend really enjoyed it!
Around us people looked pleased and the staff was walking around to make sure that everyone was happy or didn't need anything.
For desert we share the "isle Flotant" surprise!!!! soft meringue floating in an egg custard toped with caramel....to die for!!!
the food, the atmosphere the music and of course the service were great.
I definitely want to go back to casimir. this time to eat at the bar (and the bartender... just jocking...well maybe not...)

I was remarquebly impressed by the food at casimir..... I had the seafood dish, kind of the famous meditterannean "bouillabaisse" which was very tasty, and my friend had the lamb chops which were excellent. we were promptly served (I have to mention that we had early diner, 7pm) and the service was great. our waitress was very friendly and funny so we enjoyed our experience very much.
- Pros: great food great people
- Cons: no crepe suzette!

my girlfriend and i happened to be walking by en route to some argentinean dinner and the charm and warmth of the place grabbed our eye..i had been before but didnt realize we were on that block..we had a very casual inviting drink by the dimly yet perfectly lit bar while romantic music was piped in as perfect background...we decided to bail on south of the border and engaged in a delicious meal of salads, big burgers, and outstanding grouper in a delicious heart of palm type broth..we had the restaraunt to ourselves-- it was tues at 7.30pm.. at a corner table..enjoyed another drink on the outside paito ...the place would be perfect for groups, romantic nights, or simply a casual drink and burger..it can fit all the right moods and needs...just our waitress had no clue...would definitely go back...waitress aside...
- Pros: great atmosphere, romantic yet also great for small parties, outside patio
- Cons: none

great brunch
by ephinea at Citysearch
If you never dared to go on a week end night because of too many people, then try it for the brunch....great place for a relaxing brunch....not too crowded, great music, and exquisite food... I highly recommend the burger (seems like French people know how to make a real burger!!), and the Croque madame (Croque monsieur with an egg on top....delicious......)...... Brunch time is also great for families because the people working are very friendly to the kids (obviously as long as they behave!!!!)...
I really love this little French bistro because of its friendly atmosphere and the great food.....
- Pros: charming brunch
- Cons: amex
a real newyorker spot

When more than five restaurants and store owners refer you to a restaurant, you know something special is going on.I loved it...as soon as i stepped in... i was in a good mood. After a little wait at the bar we ended up in the garden with my friend. What a cozy little place...i had the Thai Salmon and tried my friend's Filet Mignon, amazingly tasty...The wine was also very good and only $7...Dessert ?..Cafe?..But off course...we went for a flourless chocolate cake, which was very hard to share...we'll be back soon...
