They call this New York's "best kept secret". It is open continuously all day. I went at an off hour so I was the only diner in the whole place. The maitre 'd was informative about the restaurant since I just had passed it on Madison Avenue. I just got buzzed in. The room is very attractive with colorful murals. I had the prix fixe tasting menu which was quite good, especially the additional foie gras and an additional spoonful of a higher quality of caviar. I didn't even try the sushi so as not to confuse my taste buds. It was very expensive but I would return. The only issue I had was with the wait staff who may have had too little to do. One waitress in particular would take away the dish and then yell within my hearing distance, "He's ready for the next one!" giving it a feel more of a diner. She also spent quite a bit of time looking at the rain outside the window instead of tending to the sole customer. Would definitely go back.
Pros: Taste of food, variety, ambience,
Cons: Service

Went for lunch. Nice restaurant on 2nd floor. Tasteful and unassuming. Excellent sushi, fish, caviar, duck confit. Service was good. The wine list is simple but good and not too overpriced, but with advance notice they will allow you to bring in your own wine and pay corkage. I will definitely go back, and next time it will be for dinner.
Pros: This is a value restaurant with high quality food, especially if you take advantage of the Corkage policy.
Cons: The service was good but not great, but that is more likely to be an issue for the lunch crowd than the dinner crowd.

I went on Valentine's Day. It was a 7 course pre-fix dinner. Though one thing was disturbing. The waiter has missed one of our courses and bought out the hearty steak course. Taken that this is a 5 star restaurant, you would think the waiter is knowledgeable enough to realize that it's a faux pas to mix up the order of the course, and would suggest to bring back the steak. To my surprise, he just told us to eat the steak and will bring out the grilled scallop after that. Shrug... what can you do. The food was enjoyable, caviar was fine. Service was a bit off. I had to ask for more wine from my bottle. I particularly appreciated the caviar. Perhaps I should’ve just bought a can and eat at the comfort of my own home.
Pros: good caviar, other food weren't outstanding
Cons: mediocre service (nice guys but lack professionalism)

I made a reservation through Open Table for 9:30pm on a Tuesday night. My boyfriend and I got to the restaurant around 9:45pm (ps. look for the awning that says Caviar Ruse not Wave Sushi). Once buzzed up the hostess looks at us questioningly - I tell her we have reservations for 9:30 and apologize for running late. Eyeballing me she says, the kitchen closes at 10..do you still want to eat (10pm-in NY!!)? We said yes, and she mentioned we would have to order right away. Once seated we had the opportunity to look around and appreciate the beautiful atmosphere and thankfully we didn't feel rushed. But once we tried to place our order we found out that the sushi chef had left for the night (that's the only reason I wanted to go) and we had to order from the other selections. It turned out okay because the food was tasty, the service was efficient and the bill wasn't too high. Although there was a discrepancy with the check (they charged me for a drink I never received) and it took longer than it should have to clear up the mistake. Overall the experience was a good one and I would like to go back to actually sample the raved about sushi dishes. In the end I was more upset with Open Table for taking a reservation during a time when the restaurant would be closed (initially I had booked it for 10)! Lesson learned-call to confirm reservation and double check the hours of operation!!
Pros: Elegant, romantic atmosphere
Cons: Kitchen closes early (10pm)

As the old adage goes: You get what you pay for. And this place doesn't disappoint. Caviar Russe will impress even the most knit-picky connoisseur, with class to spare. The menu is a tad on the pricey side, but when reflected against the high level of service and excellent food, it is a value unmatched even by a fire-sale at Louie Vuitton... I have been there more than once, and either I make an impression (probably not) or the wait-staff have excellent recollection. The sushi is superb and the caviar is the best in the business! This place is a must...
Pros: Superb service, excellent food, and elegant decor

I found this restaurant to be one that truly values its patrons. Service and food is what any one would expect when spending that type of money. Obv caviar is top of the line but the rest of the menu is so diverse it gives you a chance to taste so manydifferent varietys. The tastes makes your mouth water for more. Waitstaff is great, very attentive. Wine list is not huge but def well selected. I recommend that you try this hidden spot which will surely blowup very soon
Pros: Excellent food, service
Cons: none that i see

Not only does Caviar Russe have (in my opinion) the most incredible quality and choice of caviar in the town (and I've been to Petrossian and Caviarteria many many times), the sushi is out of this world. Add to that the incredible and knowledgeable service, and you have a place that is definitely not to be missed - for locals and tourists alike. Can't say enough about this place.
Pros: incredible food, beautiful surroundings, wonderful staff
Cons: ? haven't found any yet

My boyfriend and I went there to celebrate my birthday the other night and all I can say is that it was magnificent. From the spectacular caviar to the hospitable waitstaff, I felt like royalty and enjoyed every second of it. Considering we were the last patrons there and it was after the closing time, the waitstaff did not rush us at all and made us feel comfortable and relaxed. I highly recommend Caviar Russe to anyone who wants delicious top grade caviar and fantastic service.
Pros: Food, Drinks, Service
Cons: None
