I just adore this place. The food is consistently good--the short ribs melt in your mouth and the dover sole is incredible. Came this past summer many times for drinks on the roof (a great people watching spot for those who work in the neighborhood) and then my boyfriend brought me to dinner there last month. We ended up back again about 3 weeks later because we were craving what we'd had the first time around! Service is top notch--not sure what the other reviewers are saying about the owner--he and his staff have been incredibly inviting to everyone in the place the times we've been there. All in all a fantastic place, and worth the trip over to sort of a funny neighborhood (46th bet Lex and Third).

Pros: menu, ambience

Went here for Restaurant week. It was something special. The layout is great, it wasn't too loud, and the food was excellent. An amazing wine list is sure to please everyone as well. Watch out for the deserts! the sundae is insane...

It was 4:00 p.m. and I decided that rather than cook, I would take my girl out for supper. I searched the web looking for a place close to work where we could meet and found Patroon's. Entering the door was the beginning of a wonderful experience. The Maitre' D, Stephone greeted us with a, "We have been eagerly awaiting your arrival" attitude and from there it was smooth sailing. We were promptly seated and the waiting staff was extremely attentive. I ordered on of the specials, "A cut above the rest" which is a beef tenderloin for 2, jumbo asparagus and mashed potatoes as sides. The meal was FANTASTIC. Prepared perfectly. Pan seared, with a well seasoned crust, which was lip smackingly savory. The inside was tender , juicy and succulent served with greens. Grilled asparagus spears, lightly seasoned. Creamy mashed potatoes with chives and a hint of garlic. I would venture to state the chef takes exceptional pride in his work. A nearby party had ordered duck, and I wished I had! Another ordered chicken and I wished I had! The aromas, the ambiance, MAGNIFIQUE!. For desert, we had chocolate mousse topped with drizzles of fudge and vanilla sauce with sprinkles of toffee chips. Great place for a couple to have an exceptional dinner in a calm soothing atmosphere. Patroon is the type of place one would frequent. If my experience was typical of their daily presentations, a bad night does not exist. Customer service is apparently the focus of Patroon. To not visit this restaurant is to not want a pleasant dining experience.

Pros: Dining there

Cons: slightly pricy but worth it

At the last minute, my friends and I, decided to go to Patroon for dinner. It was a very pleasant surprise. Everything was excellent, staff, food and atmosphere. It is a bit on the upscale side... But so worth it.

Pros: Food, service, atmosphere

My wife and I had dinner here last week and were both very happy with the our choice of restaurants. I ordered the Filet Mignon and my wife ordered the Salmon and both entrees were cooked perfectly with the taste to match. The service as well was worth mentioning. Very attentive when it came to anything which is how it should be. I have been to a lot of restaurants in NY and this is one I look forward to coming back to.

Took a group of people out to dinner at Patroon last week and let me just say that there are few restaurants in the city that can match the excellence of service, food and overall ambience that Patroon does so well. Bravo! Very highly recommended. Oh and check out their rooftop for a great after-work get together.

Pros: Food, Romantic Ambience, Courtious Staff

Cons: zero

We went along for restaurant week and everything was splendid. The set menu proving very good value, with some identical dishes from the normal menu (rather than a special, cheaper menu). Our bottle of red wine was a little cold from the cellar and when we came round to ordering the same bottle again the sommelier had had the forethought to leave a bottle out to warm up. Not a lively location even on a Friday night but old school and plush for eating fine food with friends. There's also an outside rooftop bar a few stories up for a pre-dinner drink if you want to mingle with the after-work crowd but there isn't a view & the decor has seen better days.

Pros: Old school style, Service, food

Cons: Not lively

Patroon features a nice cigar bar and has great staff. The food is tasty and portion sizes are appropriate. This is a nice restaurant if you are looking for a good place to host an intimate dinner meeting with business associates. Not a great place for family or general dining.

We arrived for dinner expecting to be impressed by a place that has an impressive past - but, that's just it -- the PAST! The restaurant is dark and not very attractive and then you have spot lights shining on you putting you in the worst light possible, reaching for sunglasses. The menu prices are a bit expensive for what you get in quality and portion size. I ordered the crab cocktail and it was soaked in a lime juice concoction where all you could taste was the lime. They couldn't even make a salad that was appealing. We spent $200 in this place and left hungry and very disappointed.

Pros: location, good service

Cons: food, overpriced, decor

Last memorial day, I tried to make reservations but was told they were closed that weekend (interesting, but...). I figured I would give it another try. 3 weeks ago I made reservations for Saturday night. Today, I get a call telling me that they are closed that day (Saturday?) and subsequent Saturday's for the rest of the year. Unbelievable. It is so easy to get a reservation at a top place in NYC with a week's notice. I am surprised to say the least and find such practice not worth the effort. This place is to be avoided.
