Disappointed
by Chalky
We visited Redeye Grill with a group of friends about 5 years ago and it was a fantastic evening in the conservatory part of the restaurant. Food and atmosphere was first class. We returned as a couple during our recent holiday trip and chose this place for the Saturday night. The waiter was very helpful but when the table kept rocking from side to side with a wonky leg, he said it had to be in a certain place on the floor and, regrettably, that meant I had to be pinned to the wall with the table! I know that ribeye steak is marbled but mine was full of fat and I had to use my napkin for the most of it. I mentioned this to the waiter who took the steak off the bill and the manageress visited our table to say that the person responsible in the kitchen should not have put this steak on the grill and he is new. All in all, a disappointing experience and an expensive one despite the steak missed off the bill.
- Pros: Nice waiter
- Cons: Disappointing food
Wonderful spot for pre-theater dinner!

Wonderful food and fun atmosphere. Great spot for a pre-theater dinner. Service was friendly, prompt and helpful. Dinner specials are super value. Very good spot for a large group. Would definitely go back on next trip to NYC .
Good tasting meals, at reasonable rates.

After checking in at the Buckingham Hotel, we asked one of the employees to recommend a good restaurant. He told us that the Red Eye Grill was a place to go. Our first meal in New York City ever turned out to be a great one. The steaks were good, my son really liked the eel, and my wife had a dish of crab cake (meat) on spinach. I would definitely come back to the Red Eye.
Good Place

Have been to this restaurant several times! Each & every time I go, I like it even more. The service is excellent, the food is fantastic, and the drinks are even better!! I had the seafood Paella, which was wonderful! The cobb salad is also good. I have also taken many people from out of town here and they ALL request to go back. Def make a reservation though!!
- Pros: seafood paella
Great find!

I went here with a friend on a whim, we went someplace else first and couldn't get a table. Service here was great, food was fantastic. Guacamole+shrimp appetizer was really great, we both had the filet, very good, didn't much like the frites that came with, but the filet was so good, neither of us cared.
Will absolutely visit again. Maybe tomorrow ;-)
- Pros: Great service, great food
- Cons: none. zip. zero.
Love it, love it, love it.

A friend of mine brought me here. I loved it. I brought a friend of mine here. She loved it. We brought a bunch of friends here. They loved it. The Cobb Salad is to die for. The service is friendly. The place may be a bit on the loud and bustling side, but that's part of its charm! Try it. You'll love it!
- Pros: Cobb Salad
Big things come in big packages

Big and gawky on the outside. Tends to turn people away. Go inside and you won't want to leave. The food is fresh, delicious, and reasonably priced.
The desserts are more appealing then stuffy overpriced French restaurants. Nice find. In fact, you can't miss it.
Great every time

I have been about 4 times and have always had a great meal. I think this is one of the more underrated places in the city. They have a very diverse menu so its something for everybody. The steak is good, the fish is good and the sushi was surprisingly great.
They also do a great job for restaurant week.
- Pros: Great Food
My Favorite In All of NYC
by abbott1377
I have NEVER been disappointed in the Red Eye. The first time I went, and was completely taken by the live jazz band and atmosphere, I ordered the Lobster Cobb Salad. I've never ordered anything else from their menu...there's no need to. It's simply the best meal in NYC. You cannot go wrong at the Red Eye Grill.
- Pros: Lobster Cobb Salad, live jazz band, attentive service
- Cons: definitely expensive
What kind of Food were they serving??????
by prenfe
Their food were not impressive, especially their sword fish. It was their special for today, and they sure did suprise me. I felt like I was eating burnt fish, rather than a nice, fine cooked piece of fish. Also, their sake and their "sparkle" water were way too expensive. Just the drinks together cost over $100.....Wouldn't go back ever again. East and pay at your own risk.
- Pros: Sashimi
- Cons: Lack of space, Bad cooked food, too loud
