AWSOME
by lfv
I've been a regular at Canyon Road for 5 years and absolutely LOVE the place. From the minute you walk throught the door you feel welcome. The hostess is always smiling and very warm. Sometimes is hard getting a table so I know to make a reservation.
The servers can sometimes get overwhelmed with the volume but they are still friendly and accomodating.
When it comes to the food OMG it's so delicious, consistent and the presentation is very nice too.
The margaritas have always been amazing and they recently added some new flavors to the list, like the jalapeno margarita or the tequilatini.
Overall I recommend this place to anyone who's looking to have a great dinning experience for a great value.
- Pros: Food, drinks and service
- Cons: none
AWFUL

This was a nice place to go at one point. David's replacement JR is unfriendly and rude. My friend also found a buug on her table. Just gross.
- Pros: Example: best croissants in town
- Cons: , bad service
Decent food; terrible service and unwelcome pests
by hkg1975
While the food here is generally good (especially for the area), it suffers from two major problems. First, like the previous reviewer, I too have dined in the presence of our favorite NYC pest. Crawling across the wall, he made for an interesting distraction but its hardly what you want to see when eating....Why can't they sort out this problem? Secondly, the service here is really terrible. The staff seem to have a superior attitude and have no idea about customer service. I used to order takeout and sometimes they would mess up the order. Never once did they apologize.
What a shame that overpaid and undertrained management is paired with a pretty talented chef.
so hospitable

I recently went to Canyon Road with some friends and was pleasnatly surprised. Everything was great. My waiter was friendly and the rare tuna was so good. I stole a bite of my friend's duck burrito and all i can say is wow.
I have lived in this neighbohood for years and Canyon is a great local spot that I'm happy to discover!
- Pros: the staff makes you feel at home, food, drinks
- Cons: crowded -- with all types of people. I'm amazed when I see people so rude to service staff
Great deal for the UES

I've been to Canyon Road a few times and have thoroughly enjoyed it. The drinks are strong and delicious, the food is very good for NYC mex and the service is good. I've never had any issues with the waitstaff or hostesses whatsoever.
The duck burrito can not be overrated, it's actually really amazing and even the little stuff like the salsa are memorable. I recommend this place - and I'm not easy to impress.
- Pros: duck burrito, salsa, guacamole
- Cons: single-sceney on weekends, quiet during the week
such a nice place

I love Canyon Road.. I love everything about it! The staff always make me feel welcome and I know it's a place I can bring my inlaws and they won't complain.
I'm a huge fan of the mojitos and the guac is amazing.
Kudos!!!
- Pros: great service, cozy, comfortable, unpretentious.
I LOVE THIS PLACE
by Starbright999
As a regular at Canyon Road I have only been greeted with friendly service. The food is outstanding and constisent. I often frequent the bar and felt compelled to write after seeing a few negative reviews.. as I am a former restuarant worker ( and trust me we are the hardest to please). People often write reviews when something is wrong and i want to say I think they are doing something right!
Canyon Road is a staple restaurant for residents of the UES. While the service can sometimes be slow, they make up for it with personality. Just an observation, it's a popular place and I'm thrilled to see it succeeding in today's hard times.
- Pros: duck burrito, friendly service, cozy atmosphere
- Cons: unable to handle the volume at times
INFESTATION OF LA CUCARACHA
by AntiCucarachainNYC
Food was decent and the drinks were good, but the experience was hard to enjoy with multiple cucarachas scampering the surrounding walls and tables throughout the night. The first crawled on the wall behind me (was sitting on bench type seat up against wall) and disappeared behind one of the ladies on the table next to me. We showed the vermin to one waiter, and he sent a bus boy over to take care of it, but it had already disappeared. When we told our waittress, she informed me and my girlfriend that we should get used to it, as we are New Yorkers. She reassured us by telling us it would be "bugnight" in only a few nights (exterminator visit day). After our meal, after the table next to us had been cleared, we saw another cucaracha creep across the table. After calling the manager over, we were again instructed to get used to it, as after all, we live in New York! Unbelievable. And what's worse, they didn't comp anything off the bill. Seemed like a pretty regular occurence. My presence in the restaurant, however, will not be.
- Pros: good margaritas
- Cons: Not digging the infestation
Horrible Service
by meghpol
I was with a party of 8 on Sunday night, November 23, and we experienced the worst service ever. It took about 20 minutes to get a drink order and when one of our guests requesting additional drinks and gave his credit card to pay for them, the drinks never showed up but the credit card was charged right away. When the entrees arrived, my husband never received his. The waiter never came back to check so I ended up getting up to speak with the manager. The manager comped us a pitcher of margaritas - big deal. We will never eat here again. Horrible service and the food is mediocre. There are way too many good restaurants to eat at in NYC to ever go back here again. Hope this helps when you are selecting restaurants.
- Pros: Good Margaritas
- Cons: horrible service and not great food
Great place!
by FoodieNYC47
I live on the Upper East Side and have never had a bad experience at Canyon Road. The food is great - the duck burrito and the chicken enchiladas are my favorites. I also think the service is great- everyone is really nice! And it's reasonably priced. It is definitely one of my staples!
- Pros: Great value, great food and drink
