by eastvillagechick
I looove dancing and sway is an always a good bet for a great time. Good scene, great DJ, decent prices. Just have to get past that velvet rope!

A great go-to spot

I have been going to Sway for the past 6 years, and it is a place I can go to and know I will always have fun. It can get a bit packed sometimes, and they definitely will not let a group of dudes in, but I always have a blast there. The music is awesome and the bartenders are so nice.
- Pros: Good music, drinks, crowd
- Cons: can get a little packed
I Love This Place!!!
by woocrew
Whether it is a quiet Wed night or a Sat night that I want to have some fun, I alway have a great time at Sway. Over the years it has become my home away from home and the staff have become some of my best friends. I love the decor, the music, and the people watching. It doesn't hurt that they serve up bottles of my favorite tequila. The crowd is diverse and adds to the flavor of a place that I already find truly unique.
Come on down!
I'm just fed up with this place.

I used to be at Sway with friends at least a couple of times a week. That was back when they still had free Red Stripe on mondays and the people at the door were still kinda cool(the bartenders were always jerks). But alas the times have changed. These days the people at the door are probably in the running for rudest people in the city. Last time I went I showed up with a great girl:guy ratio and they still were jerks at the door, so I'm done. Only time you'll ever catch me at sway again is if Ancor is just WAY to packed.
- Pros: Sometimes they let you smoke inside late night(cigs and L's)
- Cons: Door poeple, Bartenders
pleasant surprise

just went for first time this past weekend, my friends have been going there for a while. best time i've had in a long time. there was a wiat to get in but it was really crowded once inside so understandable. door host was very nice for a ny door host. bartenders were really friendly, dj was spot on. every single person there was dancing. i would highly recommend going
- Pros: great music, good crowd
- Cons: wait at door
This small, trendy west Soho lounge admits beautiful, well-dressed and self-aware downtown fashionistas.

In Short
With its red walls, red lighting, Aladdin-style chandeliers and oriental arches, Sway has a cozy, Arabian feel. Everyone is scanned at the velvet ropes by eyes dripping with attitude. This is a huge meat market: The volume of numbers exchanged exceeds the hefty bank accounts of most of the male patrons. There is no cover charge and most of the hip crowd arrives after 1am.
Hits: Sway is a guaranteed good time, and if you can forgive the stringent door policy, once you're inside it's a full-on party--the kind that may lead to bad decisions and embarrassing anecdotes. But it's well worth it.
Misses: There's a $40 minimum to use a credit card, even on relatively quieter nights.
Most overrated place I've ever been to in my entire life. Period.

As a native New Yorker and major nightlife denizen, I've seen my way around the city - from dive bars to being one of the lucky few to tear up 1Oak. Generally speaking, I am easy to please - with three requirements - good music, hot girls, and an easily-accessible bar to quench my neverending thirst for alcohol. Unfortunately, I've now been to Sway three times, and the proverbial Three Strikes, You're Out rule is now in play.
This club is the most overhyped, overrated, wanna-be MPD spot I've ever seen. From the arrogance of the holier-than-thou, hideous and snooty door girls, to the persistent lack of female talent inside, I don't understand why anyone would venture to such a remote location....unless, of course, you truly came to go to Anchor and the place was too packed, so you were forced to have a sub-par night across the street.
The gig's up. The club is unimpressive, your girls are ugly, your music sounds as if an 8 year old is playing an iPod on shuffle, you're located in the middle of nowhere, and you're pretentious enough to think you're in TriBeCa. Since you could care less about the potential of your establishment, please just pack it in. It'd make everyone much happier to not have you around. Thanks for your attention, yeah you, ugly door beeyyotches.......
- Pros: The place has four walls and a roof
- Cons: Too many to list
This place is absolute GARBAGE

I attended SWAY on a Thursday night and must say - I have never been more miserable in my entire life. After discussing for 10 mins with the pale, tall, rude, gross, blonde door girl why she should let me and my friend in - we got into this horror show. Extremely rude staff, unfriendly - a similar feeling to a prison. Entire staff is on a power trip - not sure why, the place is a dump. I would never go here again and wouldnt even bother wasting your time. The door girl is a miserable, disgusting human being.
Great Place- but bad DJ on Friday
by jenna1661
I am a big fan of this place! I have always had a great time here and often find myself leaving other establishments and getting a cab to sway mid-night because its a gauranteed good time. Great crowd full of people out to have a good time and dance- not at all snobby! and great music (usually) mix of hip hop and 80s. However this past Friday, they had a girl Djing and I'm all for Ladies spinning, but she was far below par, she was playing music for the majority of the night that no one could dance to and trust me I can figure out a way to dance to almost anthing!- Sway you should dump this girl!
Don't bother

We're from Manchester.
We walked 30 minutes across town on a very wet Sunday for Mozzer night on Feb 17th.
We were advised as soon as we got there by Mr. Attitude on the door "it's President's Day tomorrow and we're only letting regulars in".
I told him where we were from....he couldn't give a toss.
A complete let-down. Don't waste your time or money there.
- Pros: None
- Cons: Everything
