As a native New Yorker and major nightlife denizen, I've seen my way around the city - from dive bars to being one of the lucky few to tear up 1Oak. Generally speaking, I am easy to please - with three requirements - good music, hot girls, and an easily-accessible bar to quench my neverending thirst for alcohol. Unfortunately, I've now been to Sway three times, and the proverbial Three Strikes, You're Out rule is now in play. This club is the most overhyped, overrated, wanna-be MPD spot I've ever seen. From the arrogance of the holier-than-thou, hideous and snooty door girls, to the persistent lack of female talent inside, I don't understand why anyone would venture to such a remote location....unless, of course, you truly came to go to Anchor and the place was too packed, so you were forced to have a sub-par night across the street. The gig's up. The club is unimpressive, your girls are ugly, your music sounds as if an 8 year old is playing an iPod on shuffle, you're located in the middle of nowhere, and you're pretentious enough to think you're in TriBeCa. Since you could care less about the potential of your establishment, please just pack it in. It'd make everyone much happier to not have you around. Thanks for your attention, yeah you, ugly door beeyyotches.......

Pros: The place has four walls and a roof

Cons: Too many to list

I attended SWAY on a Thursday night and must say - I have never been more miserable in my entire life. After discussing for 10 mins with the pale, tall, rude, gross, blonde door girl why she should let me and my friend in - we got into this horror show. Extremely rude staff, unfriendly - a similar feeling to a prison. Entire staff is on a power trip - not sure why, the place is a dump. I would never go here again and wouldnt even bother wasting your time. The door girl is a miserable, disgusting human being.

I am a big fan of this place! I have always had a great time here and often find myself leaving other establishments and getting a cab to sway mid-night because its a gauranteed good time. Great crowd full of people out to have a good time and dance- not at all snobby! and great music (usually) mix of hip hop and 80s. However this past Friday, they had a girl Djing and I'm all for Ladies spinning, but she was far below par, she was playing music for the majority of the night that no one could dance to and trust me I can figure out a way to dance to almost anthing!- Sway you should dump this girl!

We're from Manchester. We walked 30 minutes across town on a very wet Sunday for Mozzer night on Feb 17th. We were advised as soon as we got there by Mr. Attitude on the door "it's President's Day tomorrow and we're only letting regulars in". I told him where we were from....he couldn't give a toss. A complete let-down. Don't waste your time or money there.

Pros: None

Cons: Everything

We had been trying to contact Sway for more than a week, it was my birthday occasion and we never got a call back. So we decided to go have a nice dinner and head for Sway after wards. I could not belive after traveling from Westchester County, I was turned away with my group. Not only was I rudely insulted, I was told by the girl at the gate to "try going across the street" that she was trying to help me in my situation, by suggesting I "cross the street". I told her dude it's my birthday and I really wanted to celebrate my night with hearing Moz music and that is why we traveled all the way over.. She could care less, and refused to let me see the management. The black bouncer was just as rude. Who do these people think they are.. it's not the China Club!

Pros: Moz music

Cons: DUMP!

I've lived in New York, Paris, London... never seen a place like this. Bad music, rude service and they threw my friend out of her B-Day party even though she paid a fortune to reserve a room!!!!!!!!!!! If you want to stay in line, pay a fortune for a bad drink (watered down and all) and then being insulted, then please by all means go there! Oh, and music is aweful too BTW...

Pros: Nothing

Cons: Everything is bad

We had my friend's b-day party at Sway; there were about 20 of us who spent lots of money and the staff was extremely rude, unfriendly, and unaccommodating. I def do not recommend this place nor would I ever step foot there again.

Pros: no cover

Cons: rude staff, crowded,

Only worth going when DJ Frankie is there visiting from LA. That boy knows how to throw a party!! Always get right in, always get a drink within 5 mins, and ALWAYS have a blast. Sometimes there are hot people there, sometimes there aren't. Depends on the nite.

Pros: Great music, great drinks, lots of fun.

Cons: Bathroom is tiny and always has a line to get in.

This is the first time I have gone to the trouble of writing a review...this place is not worth the trip! A group of us tried to go there after 2am on Saturday night for one last drink, and the rude, obnoxious, fat man at the door wouldn't even look at us when we were talking to him. How great could it be inside that he has that kind of attitude? We go out all the time, and always get a table for bottle service, but you couldn't pay me to go back to this place!

the time has come to officially stop going to sway. used to be a really fun place where friends could meet up and enjoy themselves. the place has now turned into this: obnoxious clip-board-girl (linda) and excessive attitude at the door. you can attempt to call or email for a smooth entry, but unless you are willing to pay for bottle service, you'll have little luck. bummer. sway just lost great credibility and heaps of business. for a MUCH better time, head to anchor bar or the emerald inn across the street. see ya sway!

Pros: i have great memories of my past birthdays

Cons: the attitude, the velvet ropes, the lists

Insider Tips

Know Before You Go

Going at off-peak times (i.e., earlier) may help you at the door, and as long as you've got a respectable girl-to-guy ratio, you probably won't wait too long. And buying a bottle is a sure thing every time.
