I went for drinks on a Friday evening with some colleagues. A 2-man band played, and the crowd was very quiet. Then, the bartender "shushed" my friend twice and asked me once to be quiet. The band itself was good, but they seemed to be singing the same monotonous type of song so I didn't think it was strange that my friends and I were using a "bar"-appropriate volume of talking. I was rather suprised that we were expected to remain quiet throughout the entire time the band was playing when it seemed as though the band was playing background music. I am not going back.

Pros: not crowded, I did see some good-looking guys

Cons: you have to be quiet while the band is playing

Stopped in for a beer after work. It was shortly after 6 p.m. and I guess they just opened. There were a bunch of people there to sign up for the open mic. I just wanted a beer. I sat down in a barstool. And sat. And waited. "You're gonna have to give me a few minutes, OK?" Yeah fine whatever. I sit and wait some more. She wasn't even busy doing anything! I think she may have casually counted a small stack of bills. Bartender's friend walks in and they exchange hugs and start chatting. I ask, "Do you sell beer here or not?" "Yes we sell beer! but you're going to have to give me like 5 minutes!" I just wanted a can of PBR. I didn't say a word and just walked out. I won't be returning. Plenty of other bars to spend my money at in the neighborhood. In case the owner or manager sees this - female bartender, longish brown wavy hair, cranky attitude -- get rid of her!

Pros: none

Cons: Can't get a drink, cranky bartender attitude.

This is a great neighborhood hangout (slightly out of the way of Park Slope's 'restaurant row,' but that just keeps the crowds down), the martini's ARE fabulous, though I'm more of a beer girl myself. Beer selection is pretty good, they have your standards on tap. The bartenders are very sweet, and there seems to be a pretty friendly local crowd, as I often see the same people there. My favorite thing about Bar 4, however, is the live music. It's a small place, so it's surprising that they host such loud (but good!) bands as often as they do - although there are often quiet acoustic sets too. Many of the local bands I've seen perform here now grace my iPod, and every time I listen to one of them, I think about the good times I had at Bar 4.

overall super cute, most times good crowd with the exception of not being able to converse during open mic nites. Always a good place to stop by on my way home....keeping me out later than i should be.

Pros: good selection of draft beer

Friendly folks, good atmosphere, good musicians! Worth stopping in from time to time and checking out the hip scene here.

Late night, this place gets busy & you have to sit on your friend's laps. The music can get kinda loud so you have to scream your order at the bartender, after using air-traffic-control signals to get his attention. But once settled into a coveted cosy corner, with drink in hand, it's a little more dealable. Interesting artwork on the walls. Whoever said "bring a date" is right - the wolves will get you if spotted sitting alone for one second. Those Brooklyn boys!

Pros: good drinks, hip atmosphere, comfy couches

Cons: crowded, noisy, meat market

beautiful space, nice bartenders, yummy $6 martinis, and always great music. Quiet, mellow, and romantic. I think drinks are half-price until 7

Pros: empty before 8

Cons: empty before 8
