This neighborhood bar meets all the qualifications for a perfect, relaxed date: dim candle lighting, a selection of top-quality beers and wines at relatively wallet-friendly prices, and a laid-back vibe. The cozy but jovial atmosphere is accompanied by tasteful indie music played at soft volume, allowing for easy conversation. Seats at the bar are limited, but a long, high bench outfitted with comfy cushions presents plenty of extra space along the edge of the room, perfect for canoodling. There’s no table service, but it’s usually easy to grab the attention of a helpful, knowledgeable ‘tender and order a beverage.

Good Place to Kick Back

The Scene
The qualifications for a perfect relaxed date spot might include tables lit by dim candlelight, a selection of top-quality beer and wine (at wallet-friendly prices) and a laid-back vibe. That's what you'll find at Anotheroom, which has perfected the art of the quiet, but by no means boring, night out. Tasteful indie selections from Modest Mouse to the New Pornographers set the tone at the small bar, where high bench seating rims the space and neighborhood regulars enjoy the ambience.

The Draw
In summer, the bar feels like an extension of the sidewalk, with a cool night breeze blowing through the space. In winter, it's an oasis from the chill, with the dark, cozy interior pushing thoughts of slush and snow far from the mind. The well-selected beer and wine list changes with seasons, but if available, try the Blue Point Toasted Ale, a crisp Long Island brew.

A Romantic Bar with Substance

I stumbled upon Anotheroom quite recently because I was early for a dinner reservation at Montrachet next door (highly recommended). This is a bar I recommend for dates or catching up with friends. Its a great date place because they have a nice wine list for the ladies and an impressive beer list (for beer lovers) for the guys, which are all reasonably priced also there are a few of really good restaurants in that area. Also its great date atmosphere because it is dimly-lit with candles. Even the bathroom was really romantic with its candles a nice place for a discreet hook-up (the idea did pop up between my boyfriend and I). Anotheroom is also great for catching up with friends because its not too loud and not too quiet laid-back atmosphere.
