Come on with the Music
by melny
Love this bar usually, but on a recent visit, the music was unacceptably loud!! Even after telling our waitress, who was suffering as well, nothing changed. Come on people - take a hint. Great place to catch a drink in Union Sq. Love the open windows and the music itself was great. But when you're screaming to talk and jaw hurts after 1 story because it is so loud, it is too much. We stopped in the midst of a few discussions to laugh at how unbelievably loud the music was. We left after a drink only because it was so uncomfortable. Would have stayed much longer. When your patrons are telling you it is humoursly loud, take a hint and make them more comfortable. This was not at all a question of taste of certain patrons. You could see people leaning over to just talk and there were a lot of 'WHAT?' going back and forth. This isn't a club. Please fix this so we can come back!
- Pros: Great space, Good Vibe, TBD
- Cons: Ridiculously loud music
I met my husband at Park Bar
by smoothie
Turns out you CAN meet your future spouse in a bar. Completely random Friday night, good drinks, great conversation, flattering lighting and 3 years later we're married.
- Pros: ambiance, comfortable
- Cons: the occasional shady character
A relaxed but rollicking atmosphere without any of the typical Union Square trappings.

The Scene
Paris Hilton wannabes, take note: This is not the Park Bar that boasts an outdoor Jacuzzi and beefy bouncers and was made famous by rap videos. This Park Bar is the opposite of all that. The throng of smokers congregating on the quiet street provides the only noticeable clue to its existence. Wood--and lots of it--decorates the bar's main room. Walnut panels line the entire space, and an oversized oak bar runs almost the length of the place. Stools and mahogany tables dot the right side.
The Draw
Those seeking solace in the form of a well-poured pint of Boddington's (the bar attracts a significant British crowd) or a sizeable glass of wine pack the joint. The music, usually classic rock or acid jazz, plays softly in the background, without overwhelming conversations. The young, relaxed crowd shuns head-to-toe Christian Dior outfits in favor of jeans and T-shirts.
Great neighborhood bar

When faced with watering holes, such as, Heartland Brewery and the chairs outside of Toasties, Park Bar becomes even more enticing. It's an amazing place to stop by after work or late night on the weekends... always a very relaxed, cool crowd.
- Pros: Free drinks from bartenders if you're a regular
- Cons: Seating isn't very good

The earlier you get there the better it is. It get's very crowded as the night goes on. Bar area very crowded. It was a nice place to go while on vacation.
- Pros: The atmosphere and the food and drinks well above average.
- Cons: Very crowded
Tiny but fun
by Drink_Club
No waitress, just drinks at the bar. On this Thursday, the tiny place was packed, at least at 9PM. Things began to thin out SLIGHTLY around 11. We finally were able to snag one of the small tables around the periphery of the tiny place. The bartender was great, though Ai complained about the quality of her Margarita. The Brooklyn Lagers were all fine. The crowd was terrific, friendly to the max. It's slightly loud when it's crowded, but it's a great place to meet folks, or just hang out. WARNING: NO FOOD! -- Drink Club is a roving group of NYC drinkers
- Pros: friendly bartender, friendlier customers
- Cons: No Food, too crowded early
Might just be my favorite bar
by phishfreak
Good atmosphere, good people, great location, great beer selection, great prices.
Fun and funky bar with no pretention. Just a bunch of fun 20 somethings looking for a fun evening without having to deal with annoying bouncers, high prices, long lines at the bar, or a bridge and tunnel crowd.
This might just be my favorite bar. Have been three times in the past month. Why go anywhere else??
- Pros: Lots of tables, Friendly patrons, Cheap-ish
- Cons: Can get crowded
An Oasis
by bpoelman
This is a fabulous little watering hole. It's clean, comfortable, and upscale without being pretentious. The place is small, but that only serves to make it feel as if you belong there. The service is friendly and efficient. The house wines are great and the customers all seem relaxed and "at home." The location is perfect as well. While Union Square is a great place to shop, eat, etc., a little pub like this is a rarity. We stumbled onto the Park Bar while shopping and felt it was an oasis among the shops and apartment buildings of the neighborhood.
- Pros: Service, Atmosphere, Location
