The mod-styled lounge in the Ameritania Hotel makes a good little stop for colorfully quirky drinks.

Twist's look is chunky and modular with boxy, white vinyl seats at the bar, rectangles of colored light hovering around the fireplace and a chocolate-citrus scheme in the mural, furnishings and pillows. During cocktail hour, the place lures tourists, young professionals and other locals whose social calendar brings them to midtown. In addition to a solid repertoire of standards, from fuzzy navels and grasshoppers to lesser-knowns like the Godfather (Scotch and amaretto), Twist offers an inventive martini selection.
