This place was closed on October 26th by the health dept. which confirms my experience of rancid produce, and poorly cooked chicken. Plus the wait staff expect a tip just for bringing your "to go" food from the kitchen to the cash register. Owners are not greedy.
- Pros: used to be cheap
- Cons: quality is awful now
LOVE THIS PLACE!!!!! it's a must....
by Torres318
Most of the people giving this restaurant bad ratings are people that don't know jack S#!t about spanish food. Well, for those of you that like food with great flavor this is the place to be.... If you are spanish you should know us latinos love cooking with lots of flavor and spices, and tierras columbianas difinitely has all the flavor you can ask for. If you are a big chicken fan try the grilled chicken, if you are a big shrimp fan try the shrimp scampi (delicious), the steak is also slammin..... for all the BORICUAS out there las chuletas estan cabron aqui... overall a great place to dine at.... i've been going there for years and the waitors are very friendly... of course if your a pain in the butt that would annoy anybody.... so if you dont want S#!tty service dont be a S#!tty customer.....
- Pros: Delicious food
- Cons: Hard to find parking
rude waitor
by ionian76
even though the prices were inflated i decided to order but the waitor was rude; was unwilling to answer me a question about a particular side dish; hi s answer was "i dont know" and the he left to do something else. i just left
Wish I had a time machine to go back and warn myself about this place

I am going to make this short. Food was poor quality, undercooked, and basically tastless. I also had ordered a desert hoping to make up for the poor meal and it tasted like it was sitting in the freezer for weeks. Wasted my time and money. Environment is plain and looks like inside the same as if it were a Chinese take out place. Wouldn't reccomend to bring a date there as well as not go there at all. Overall dissapointed.
- Pros: None
- Cons: too many
NEVER DISAPPOINTS!

Tierras has been a favorite of ours for years! Not the cheapest Spanish spot but the portions are big and you can usually always take some food home. Their breaded chicken is delicious, never fatty, their rice and beans are generous, they always come on a separate plate, the country plate is my husband's favorite and he has never walked out unhappy.
If you had a bad experience at Tierras, go back a second time and give them another try. On a Sat night this place is packed but the food is still great!
- Pros: Yummy Food
- Cons: Slow Service (Rarely Happens)
Are they open on Saturday's?

I haven't yet been to Tierras Colombianas, but from the reviews I can easily deduce this place will satisfy my simple tastes. However, if you use the directions given for driving or walking to Tierras Colombianas from Manhattan (aka "the city") please give yourself a day to get there. Instead of following those ridiculous directions, please take NYC Mass Transit.
can scare the wits out of a food critic

WOW...I wish it were a bad dream, but unfortunatly it wasnt. I went to this place the other day with 2 friends of mine looking forward to having a good meal. What I got instead was anything but that. First off, the service was very slow, and I dont know why- being that there was only one other couple in there including us. After waiting 20 minutes, we finally got service. The food was brought to us and our orders were wrong. Waited some more it was very dissapointing. The beans were undercooked making them hard and the fish I had smelled polluted and reeky. Long story short, the only positive thing I can say about this place, is that it was near a pharmacy and THANK GOODNESS for that. After eating at this place you'll need a good pharmacy, if not a miracle.
- Pros: pharmacy near by
- Cons: wasn't warned about the place beforehand
Great Colombian Food - Cheap - Great portions.
by Marcqueens
Food is delicious. Service is good. Portions are huge (would recommend to share a bandeja paisa).
The best comfort food you would ever find.
Wine selection is not good, so you go with beer. They have "club Colombia" which is a dark beer that will go nice with any meal.
The fish is excellent too.
- Pros: portions - price
- Cons: wine list
Awesome food, fast at great prices

My family has been eating at Tierras Colonbianas since it first opened. Over the years we always have a pleasant experience when we dine there. The food is great, as are the portions and service. We are always amazed at how quickly we are served and how fresh the food is. The staff is extremely friendly and many of them have been there for years. I am so suprised to see some negative reviews. Maybe they are from jealous competitors. All you have to do is walk by to see the restaurant is always packed with content customers and wait staff with big smiles to great you. I encourage you to try them.
Avoid if you can

Bad food, bad service, bad environment. Now that I think of it, bad everything about this place. The way this food is served, its as if its for a pig eating out of a trough. The main course along with the side dishes like rice and beans are all combined together on one plate so you end up getting a soup. The salad tastes likes it wasn't cleaned before it was served. It tasted as if there were grains of sand mixed together with the salad. Wines are way overpriced and they don't even have a good selection. They don't accept credit cards and the staff just doesn't seem to care much. Bathrooms are atrocious. If one decides to venture inside, better off wearing a hazmat suit. Overall poor experience.
- Pros: Place was pretty much empty
- Cons: food, staff, environment
