Very good

by derfffff at Citysearch

I had a very good experience the night I went to this restaurant. I know literally all restaurants can be up & down from night to night (I used to be a food expeditor and waiter) but I was fortunate to have been there on an up-night! I loved the mushroom dish that had an assortment of mushrooms instead of only button. The bottle of wine I had complimented my steak nicely which as perfect medium-rare and we had a very attentive server which was nice. I've been to 4 steakhouses in the city and this is #1. I still need to go to Peter Luger's and the Old Homestead (among others).

I go to a steakhouse about once a month. Decided to try Nick & Stef's due to its proximity to Penn Station. The petite filet & shrimp consisted of a slightly dry (ordered medium) filet and three shrimp. My dining companion ordered the crab cakes and seemed to enjoy them. The mac & cheese side and calamari app were good. The service was attentive. All in all a decent place, however, with a bill for two coming close to $200.00, coupled with so many other steak options in the city, you'd probably be more satisfied going somewhere else.

  • Pros: Ambience, Location, service
  • Cons: Didn't think the steak was very good

Top ten steak.

by Steakworrier at Citysearch

I am a frequent visitor of steak houses, and I have dined to most of them in the city. My friend recommended it, so I came in with few friends for the R.E.M concert. We tried the seafood platter for the table and that was the best I?ve tasted in a long time. I tried the cowboy steak and that was the most tender cowboy steak have ever eaten. Even though we were short on time they managed to get us out on time after a very enjoyable experience. This Steakhouse is a top 10 on my book, and I will recommend it.

I have to say this place was a great find never knew it existed

I ate here before the Tom Petty concert and was pleased with my whole experience. My Ribeye steak was absoltely enormous and filled with flavor. My wife had the Mixed seafood entree and told me it was fresh and tasty. The service was very good even though this restaurant was really busy at the time of our visit...We will return

Rather be at Burger King

by tbone69tbone69 at Citysearch

I am not joking, I'd rather have eaten at Burger King. Service was decent except the food was horrible. The filet mignon has no taste and the consistency of a rubber band. The filet was flat (compared to a good steak house such as Del Friscos or Harry) My wife and I were so hungry that we had to eat was was brought to the table. The creamed Spinach was dry and stale. The bread offering was bland and ordinary.

This steak house is not among the elite in Manhattan, but charges equivalent prices. We complained to our waiter, who immediately alerted the manager, about the poor quality of the steak, and she insisted on bringing us another, which we declined. The manager reduced our tab by the price of the steak (which was very nice.)

We will never go back to Nick & Stef's.

Madison Square Garden's sleek shrine to steak.

by Contributor at Citysearch

The Scene
A glassed-in ground-level chamber of aging steaks greets visitors to the New York outpost of owner Joachim Splichal's popular Los Angeles steakhouse. Inside, angular panels of blond wood work their way across the walls and ceiling in a way that's reminiscent of the Garden ceiling. Plush carpet covers the floors and deep leather lines the booths.

The Food
Nick & Stef's is a meat-and-potatoes steakhouse in the truest sense, with 10 different cuts of meat (like a juicy grilled 10-ounce venison chop and a silky, dry-aged 12-ounce New York strip steak) and several potato-derived side dishes. Desserts make an excellent showing, with first-rate versions of cheesecake and lemon meringue pie.

The good reviews are scams

by hollandt at Citysearch

The majority of people who gave this restaurant an EXCELLENT review also gave "Excellent reviews" to all of the establishments that are part of RESTAURANT ASSOCIATES...Just look at the Profiles of the reviewers and look at the other restaurants they have reviewed...Its all a scam...I have eaten at the majority of these restaurants and please....How good can they be if they are willing to take $50 off your check for your birthday? Sub-Par at food at best at all of these establishments...What a joke.

Great Steak, Great Time

by nygirl10036 at Citysearch

Adjacent to Madison Square Garden, Nick & Stef's is the perfect place for pre- or post-game parties, special events, or just a great dinner! The sleek and contemporary steakhouse features amazing steaks and a killer swordfish. The bar is sophisticated and the dining area is comfotable and ultra-contemporary. The bar is open from restaurant opening to closing and on event nights, they remain open as long as business dictates.

  • Pros: Great Steaks and Seafood

I like Scotch! Scotch, Scotch, Scotch!

by doggiebag at Citysearch

this place has great scotch/whisky selection, perfect for the upcoming colder months. we knocked back a few rounds and then had dinner. the sirloin was cooked to perfection-- most other restaurants can't get "medium" right to save their lives. they also have a wider selection of sides than most other steakhouses. everyone could use little mac & cheese in their life, am i right? my mouth waters just thinking about it, i might go there again tonight!

  • Pros: Great ambiance, nice rich colors that seem warm and inviting during sunset
