Fantastic Experience!

I attended the Chelsea/Meat Packing Food Tour during a vacation to NYC. This tour was a hilight of my vacation. The tour guide was informative without becoming dull or talking too much and entertaining without becoming "cheesy". A comfortable atmosphere was maintained through the trip as the tour guide presented information, provided insights to the area, and presented food samples at various locations. Effrots were approrpiately made to accomodate food allergies (I'm allergic to shellfish - anothe tour member peanuts). The tour guide also maintained a comfortable pace so that we neither felt rushed nor lingered in one area too long. In addition, I was impressed that the guide was able to tactfully redirect questions and "dawdlers" so that the entire group was able to see as many places as possible and truly benefit from the tour.
I can't wait to try all the other tours offered and will plan my next NYC vacation around doing so.
- Pros: Informative, Comfortable, Friendly, Entertaining....
- Cons: Tours fill quickly

Overview
Take a walking tour of Greenwich Village while tasting the delicacies the historic neighborhood has to offer at no extra cost. This exploration of the neighborhood's culture and sights features the Village's off-the-beaten-path food establishments, unique specialty food shops and their history. Stops include: the oldest wooden house in the Village (built in 1822); a landmark speakeasy from the 1920s; hidden courtyards and gardens; the narrowest house in the area (only nine-and-a-half feet wide); the old Italian neighborhood (dating back to 1900); and brownstones and row houses from the early to mid 1800s.
The Details
The food stops are not sit-down lunches and dinners--be ready to eat on the go. After the tour, pick up your information handout that contains a mini-restaurant guide, menus, lunch specials and more should you like to return to any of the establishments visited on the tour.
great tour

Mike was our guide and he was great. We learned a lot of history and enjoyed some good food. The first stop on the Greenwich tour was Joe's Pizza. It probably can be knocked off the tour. It's definitely not the best pizza in Greenwich Village or Manhattan. You must get a beer at Chumley's. Definitely worth the time and money!
- Pros: small groups; great guides
- Cons: none
This Was the Highlight of Our Stay in NYC!
by hubriis
Our guide, Curt, was absolutely phenomenal ~ he has hands-on experience with all the stops on this delectable tour, and was very informative regarding the history of the neighborhoods. The food was positively sublime, and we came away with an arsenal of knowledge of which places to come back to for gastronomic pleasures of every sort and scenario. This tour is a must-do, and make sure to try to ensure that you have Curt as your guide. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!!
- Pros: Curt, GREAT Food, Good Price!
delightful tour

I must say that we had a knowledgeable tour guide-Cindy. She gave us little known facts and history that me this tour one of the most "worthwhile" experience of our trip (and it was 32 degrees and pouring down rain!)
