A great no attitude dance club with a roofdeck.

by hotjohnnienyc

2 indoor floors each with its own DJ, dance floor, bar and lounge PLUS a rooftop area with a bar and seating areas. Everyone that works here is always super friendly and both staff and customers are untypically attitude free.

  • Pros: Moderate drink prices and no cover during the week
  • Cons: On a nice day everyone wants to be on the roof

Violent, dangerous staff

by jacquemross

I've never written a review in my life, but I had to to let people know to NEVER go to this bar. My friends had a big birthday party here. My boyfriend and his friends got too drunk and took their shirts off. A bouncer came up to him and told him to put his shirt back on. Before he could respond the bouncer pushed him 15 feet to another bouncer who put my bf in a stranglehold, carried him down 3 flights of stairs like that, and then 3 other bouncers jumped on my bf- all the while he was gasping for breath. What's especially distressing is that they seem to have a protocol set up for this kind of violence because 2 other bouncers came out of nowhere to block me and my bf's friends from coming down the stairs to see what was going on. When I asked the guy who strangled my boyfriend what his name was, he said, "My dick." The doorman then insisted he could not help us in contacting management about this. This was the craziest, most randomly violent act I have ever witnessed.

  • Pros: nothing
  • Cons: violent, arrogant, dangerous staff

Sweaty Saturday night (9-13-08)

by iLoveFoodNYCgirl

The bouncers at the door were nice, no attitude. Bar has three floors, but the Bar's first floor is actually the building's second floor...Atmosphere was okay, but nothing special. The roof top had no view, you only see other building walls and the furniture was all plastic and since we went the day after it rained, everything was still wet. The place gets packed around 12pm and filled with an older crowd in the late 20's to mid 30's. The place was also a sausage-fest; ladies can go to meet guys, but i would say that the selection is below par. The place also gets very hot! Some patrons didnt use deodorant, so it got very stinky!

Cute place

by ginainnyc

My friend threw her birthday party here and we all showed up sans the birthday girl before 11pm. The bouncer said there was a cover fee (but when the birthday girl made the reservations-they said to just mention her name and we all get in for free) so we bitched to the bouncer and he decided to let the girls get in for free but the guys had to pay a cover charge. We got in there and it was DEAD. So we just got a few drinks and headed up to the roof. The roof was comfy, a cute place, the place started picking up around 12 and by 1 all the floors were packed with people. The place was ok...just like any other typical bar/lounge. We all decided to leave when it became a sausage-fest and the guys were getting all grabby.

Avoid it like the plague

by UWSNYCGuy

This place was a travesty from start to finish. A $10 cover for a birthday party and I get upstairs and there are probably 12 people in the entire place. Overpriced drinks. Surly attitude from all bouncers and assorted security cretins. An outside area crammed full with uncomfortable seats and cheesy redbull decor. Seriously low class clientele.

Back downstairs, the "DJ" plays 3 Sean Paul songs in a row. Awful, I was so happy to leave an hour later. I would only go back with a flamethrower.

  • Pros: Disco ball
  • Cons: everything else

Great Birthday Party!

by manavagarwal72

This place is pretty good! I had my birthday party here a week back with about 35 friends. It was very easy to setup and the owner (Seth) was very helpful. He setup a decent deal for the open bar. The bouncers were pretty friendly and my friends and I had a great time. The music was pretty good also and we stayed till closing time.

The only rub was that one of the bartenders on the 3rd floor was quite rude and made it a point to tell everyone on an open bar that they HAD to give him a tip!

  • Pros: Music, Party Setup, Space

Fantastic birthday party Sat 11/3/2007

by diablo1024

I had my birthday party here on Saturday night, Nov 3rd 2007. I had been planning to go to Branch in midtown east, but they flaked out at the last minute and said I could only put 10 people on the guestlist (my list was around 30 people). So I was left scrambling for a new venue at the last minute.

Gabe, the manager at Bar 13, was so friendly and accommodating. He responded quickly to emails and phone messages, and set us up with a reserved table, reduced cover, and open bar option for my guests. When we got there, the door staff, bartenders, etc. were also really nice. Music on the lower floor was great, hip-hop, top 40, some older classics too. I didn't get a chance to see any of the other floors. The place was really packed by around midnight, and it was a fun, attractive crowd.

Everyone had a great time at my birthday... Many thanks to the Bar 13 team for making it a success. Highly recommended!

  • Pros: great music, great space, fun crowd
  • Cons: couldn't get cover waived (but did get it reduced)

GREAT DJ on the 2nd fl SATURDAY NIGHT

by jdigi718

Went here this past Saturday night (7/21/07)! Got there around 11pm and it was EMPTY, cover = $10. However, around 12am you turn around and a decent amount of people have shown up. Not crazy get your elbow out of my eye packed but not empty either. Drinks are made super strong so you def get your moneys worth (which is a little pricey for a place with the word BAR in it's title). ALL I HAVE TO SAY IS MUSIC = FANTASTIC!! I would go back to dance the night away. Our plans were to stay for a little but the music had us on our feet ALLL night and the feeling of not wanting to leave. Mainly Hip hop but they thro in the ocasional GNR and Aerosmith tastefully!! Old and new hip hop blended together. Awesome. Crowd is decent looking and there is an open roof deck for smokers, however a line forms later in the night. Didn't spend too much time on the 1st floor which i believe is the "lounge" but while exiting it seemed as tho the music was just as loud as the 2nd floor (the club) so makes no diff.

  • Pros: Strong Drinks, Music, DJ, Music
  • Cons: think they were serving me bottom shelf at the price of Grey Goose.. not sure
