Good food, poor service

by WindUpBunny

I was so excited about going there because I am a BIG FAN of risotto... well, food was good. I loved their bread stick and quality of dish. I was absolutely disappointed about their service. Our table was almost completely ignored unless we try to yell or keep raising arms up for attention. We often felt one of the waiter was grumpy at us for nothing and rushed us out for no line waiting tables.

Delicious risotto

by cwmmh

As the other reviewers have mentioned, the restaurant is very small and tightly packed and the wait was long (45 minutes). However, once we were seated the service was excellent and the food was delicious. We ordered the risotto with shrimp and the thick crust pizza. The risotto was absolutely yummy but the pizza was just okay. Next time I go back, I'll stick to the risotto. My bf ordered the gluten-free beer and loved it! He had the biggest grin while drinking the beer. The brownies were so good! We'll definitely come back to this place again.

  • Pros: Food was very good, gluten free beer
  • Cons: Very small space, only 1 bathroom

Great food and high quality.

by mrche

This is a fine place which has made a name for itself as a destination for people allergic to gluten.I never knew gluten was a big problem , but apparently there is a gluten-free market in New York (of course). No matter, I would highly recommend Risotteria to all regardless of their gluten tolerance. Their menu is authentic and inventive. It's obvious it was carefully planned. Also, their ingredients are superb. From the quality of the rice, to the excellence of the sauces and meats to the bread used in preparing their wonderful paninni. There is an obvious insistence on high quality. They serve pizza and nice salads too. Rissoteria is really a cut above that must be experienced to be appreciated.

Deee-licious

by ckdowntown

You might have guessed that their specialty is risotto. It was hot, healthy, and delicious. Casual place with casual prices in a friendly atmosphere. Fabulous

WOOO-HOOO!!! Gluten-free pizza and breadsticks.

by agapitog

My daughter has wheat and gluten alergies and really missed eating out because of all the issues with food preparation. Risotteria is amazing for so many reasons that I can't even begin to write them down. The BEST reason is that we can eat out in a restaurant again and have pizza! The pizzas and breadsticks are absolutely delicious. The waitstaff is friendly and engaging. Even the patrons share conversations across different tables. We all trade stories about our gluten free experiences. The dining experience here is amazing because it gives back what you were missing when you have gluten allergies. My daughter and I are frequent visitors now for the food, the company, and the experience.

  • Pros: Gluten-free EVERYTHING! They also have the old style classic coke bottles.
  • Cons: The desserts are not so tasty and need to go back to formula.

yay for gluten-free happiness!

by klevites

i can go out for pizza! like a regular person!

i also like to take an order of breadsticks home with me. i can't know how i?d feel about this place if i didn?t have a special diet , and i've never tried their risotto, but i adore this restaurant. (and maybe i'm blinded by my love for this place, but the servers i've had have all seemed perfectly nice.)

  • Pros: almost everything
  • Cons: long waits and not much space to wait in

Original and great risotto!

by gralia

The restaurant is very small, so the wait tends to be long and they don't take reservations. But the wait is definitely worth it. The food is great with original types of risotto, the service is always friendly and the prices are affordable. Dishes are simple and don't come with a lot, only risotto and the breadsticks on the table, but the flavors are unique enough to stand on their own.

  • Pros: great food at an affordable price
  • Cons: often very busy and crowded, tends to be a long wait, especially on the weekend

Great Regular and Gluten-Free Food!

by gbarry

My wife is celiac and we have eaten here many times. The Risotto is always perfect. Don't believe the negative reviews - service, food prep, etc. are fine. You have to wait as it is very small but they will take your cell and call you when ready. Go to a bar and have a drink! Pizzas are really good and different. GF products (breaksticks, cookies, etc.) are wonderful and they have a few different GF beers available.

Enjoy!

I have to Agree with all the negative Posts

by gracesur

The risotto was undercooked, the horrible wine was overpriced and although the service was good, the risotto was pretty tasteless and the food matters the most. The atmosphere also did not make up for the overpriced and pretty terrible food. I can't believe I spent $60 for dinner here. Definitely not recommended.

  • Pros: small and cute restaurant

WORST SERVICE IN NYC

by automaticalice

I don't even know where to start! I brought a friend from out of town and was completely embarassed. First we were told the wait was 10-15 minutes and then FORTY-FIVE minutes later we finally sat down. Our waitress was extremely rude and completely unprofessional. She dropped off utensils that were still soaking wet (so gross). We had to ask three times for water. And then every time she dropped off glasses or plates she would drop it down extremely hard on the glass table and just walk away. It completely ruined our dining experience. Even though I enjoyed their risotto many times in the past, this experience made me decide that I would never go back again. Do not waste your money here.
