WORST delivery experience EVER in NYC
by anjanyc
The Organic Grill provided me with the WORST delivery/customer service I have ever experienced in 10 years of living in New York city.
First, when we ordered, the girl who took the order was extremely rude. Every word and phrase had attitude in her voice. For instance, her response to us asking about which kinds of pies they had (it wasn?t specified on the menu) was ?lots?. She then said the food would be there shortly.
So we wait?half hour, 45 minutes, hour. Finally we get a phone call from the delivery person saying they are lost. We keep telling him our address, but he doesn?t show up. We call the restaurant, the same girl answers. We tell her what happened, she says, ?well, I don?t have his phone number, there?s nothing I can do.? Finally, the delivery guy returns to the restaurant, and they send him out again.
This is followed by?more waiting. We get another phone call from him saying he is outside and buzzing us?but there is no one outside. He was at the wrong building. He comes upstairs, and we see the ticket?which has the WRONG address written. At this point it had been over an hour and a half since we ordered. I called back to tell them the ticket was written wrong, and this girl yells at me to ?GO PUT IT ON THE INTERNET? and hangs up on me! And then I notice on top of everything THEY MESSED UP THE ORDER. I call back and ask for the owner. The ?manager? won?t tell me who the owner is!
He asks me what I want, and I say I just want this girl to apologize, she shouldn?t be rude like that, especially since she was the one who screwed up the ticket that caused all this aggravation. His response was ?she?s not going to apologize.? I tell him I will fund out who the owner is and tell him the whole story, and he says that?s really ?petty?.
Do NOT go to the Organic Grill! And if you are the owner, get a new staff!
Great Food, Great Service, Great Price
by sersim25
I became one of the frequent diner members because I come here so often. The food has always been excellent and the service has always been good. I typically get this one guy server with a lip ring and I've never had any complaints about him. The portions are always a good size and the price is always fair. I guess the only problem is that the place is so small so there might be a wait to get seated. But if you're looking for some healthy eats, check this place out.
- Pros: Great food, great prices
- Cons: Really small place
Horrible service
by Setheriel
The food sounded very yummy but when I got my order my split pea soup was half cooked, still hard. It was pretty bad. I could hardly get the waitress, she was too busy talking to someone behind the counter. She barely paid attention to me.. I had no water, or napkins, it was just bad service.
My main meal was pretty good but for the quality of their staff I would not go there again.
- Pros: Decent main course
- Cons: horrible staff
Friendly staff, large portions, real food.

I love the Organic Grill! I've been eating there for a little over a year. It's my go-to spot when I just want a bowl of grains, some yummy sauteed greens, or a nice salad. It's wholesome food with a good vibe. Highly recommended.
- Pros: great tea selection, comfy living room style decor, intimate
Not Worth the Terrible Service
by mimccl
Walked in at 9:40 on a weeknight looking for a quick dinner after having seen a movie. Didn't have the chance. The two women working at the counter told us the place was closed. Disappointed, I asked what time they closed so I would know for next time. We were told 10. My confusion was quickly replaced with annoyance after they admitted what I was beginning to realize--the place was mostly empty and, thus, the kitchen was "closed." In other words, these two wanted to get home early and were turning customers away.
In a city this big with as many options as there are available is it absolutely unforgivable to turn customers away because you want to get home early. Rude beyond belief. I will not return, which is a shame--they have good food. But it's not worth the service.
- Pros: Great vegan food
- Cons: Service somehow manages to be consistantly and unforgivably bad
Where have OG's glory days gone?
by veganista
I used to eat here constantly, but the service became so intolerable that I've not been back in months. Just as an example, the final straw visit involved the wait staff refusing to turn down exceptionally loud music in the seating area (despite the fact that we were the only customers at the time) and the waitress accidentally pouring hot coffee *into* my brother's bag (which contained many a costly electronic item). And no, they did not reduce the bill as a result. Oy.
Delicious!

My parents and I have been doing brunch here for 4 years!!! I am vegan, they are not. So it's perfect, because the menu is wholly vegan with the exception of real egg dishes and a daily fish selection. The portions are large and the prices are small. There is superior attention paid to the detail of the ingredients and freshness of the food. Everything is made to your liking by a very friendly staff. Recommended: brunch special ( scrambled eggs or tofu with two bluberry pancakes and soy sausage patties), the BEST GRILLED VEGGIE sandwich in the world with crispy herbed homefries and slaw, chocolate cake, rasberry pie, stuffed mushrooms . . . YUM!!
- Pros: FRESH HEARTY food
- Cons: small
Totally homegrown: Local vegan ingredients in a cozy atmosphere.

Throwing timetables and turnover to the wind, this homey neighborhood cafe operates on country time in the middle of the East Village. Veteran vegans and other health-minded folk veg out at rustic wooden tables appointed with tiny flowers; purple walls and hand-written blackboard specials add just a touch of funkiness. There's nothing on this comfort food menu that's not organically grown and enormously portioned, and influences range from the Americas to the Mediterranean. Hippie servers are happy to detail the differences between tofu, seitan and tempeh, so don't be afraid to go deep into vegan offerings or tasty daily specials (especially using lentil beans)--though hearty sandwiches, spread with homemade mayo, steal the day-to-day show.

i love it here! not only is it centered in the adorable east village, it serves quality food with exceptional presentation. go for the guac and homemade tortilla chips to start- it's delicious. their salads are made with all fresh ingrediants and they offer stellar dressing choices.
join the FDP (frequent diners program)- it's worth your time & i guarantee you'll be back.
- Pros: fresh, friendly, delicious
