by far the most pleasureable nyc spa experience
by ez84
i attend spa's on a regular basis and there is just something about this particular place that makes my experience here unlike any other. If you are looking for a night out on the town or just dinner with some friends this is the perfect place to prepare for your night. The atmosphere and staff are unbelievably helpful and friendly. The offered services cover all the imaginables and so much more. Not only do they offer all your typical spa services but the level to which the services are performed is truely unique. I have been going here for years and i can honestly say i still look forward to coming every single time.
- Pros: waxing, massages, facials, manicures and pedicures
- Cons: i cant find any!!!!
Facial-Mani-Pedi-AMAZING!
by AnnaNYC
I, actually, just went today for the first time following a friend's recommendation. It was worth it. I received a facial, manicure and a pedicure. I was very happy with the results of all three services.
First, I want to comment on the management. The woman at the front desk is so cordial and hospitable. She made me feel right at home. I didn't have to wait after my appointment was confirmed; I was directed right to the facial room. The tech that did my facial was gentle and skillful. I came out feeling ten years younger, like my face was that much more vibrant and youthful. I've been getting complements all day.
After my facial, I came out for a manicure/pedicure. The technician who did my fingers and toes was professional and sweet. I was so caught up in her personality that I didn't even realize she had finished. When I surveyed her work, I was ecstatic. Well, as ecstatic as you can be when you receive a perfect mani/pedi.
I will be back, soon! Acqua Beauty Bar is going to be my exclusive spa from now on and I can't wait to try out their massage therapy!
- Pros: Comfort / Hospitality / Results

A Great Place to Spend Your Day
by LaurieLY
I had the pleasure of visiting this spa initially for a massage - which was amazing. It was so relaxing that I fell asleep! And I felt limber and relaxed for the next two weeks!
The next time I went back, I got another massage (great, again) plus a manicure and pedicure. It was one of the best I've ever had.
The atmosphere is tranquil and the staff is super helpful. Check this spa out before you gamble on any other one in NYC!

An Amazing Massage and Waxing
by Elayne
I will continue to come in to see Judy and Lee. I loved everything about the spa. The moment I walked in was greeted very nicely by the concierge Desk. I had the unforgettable 90 minute massage and the best brazilian By Lee. Look forward to go back im due for another massage.

do NOT go

I went for the Sand Digger package, which includes a one hour massage, a mani and a pedi. Let's start off with the positive: the massage was nice and relaxing. It was a bit painful because apparently I have a lot of knots in my back back, but it was a good pain, I suppose. The only real complaint I have is that I saw a HUGE bruise on my back once I got home. I expected to be a bit sore, but bruised? I'm not sure that's normal.
Ok, onto the mani/pedi. I do have to say that my experience may have been different had I had a different person for my mani/pedi. The girl I had (who never even bothered to give me her name) was impersonal and did a mediocre job at best. There are air bubbles and the French tips aren't even. The mani was supposed to last 30 minutes; it lasted maybe 15. Similarly, the pedi was supposed to last 45 minutes, but it was about 20. The foot/leg massage was weak (literally) and short. My hands and feet do not even feel any softer, which they should after the treatment. Plus, I didn't realize that a $5 charge existed for French tips. I feel as though they should've told me when I asked for it, but won't deduct any points for that since perhaps they assumed I knew. I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt, but it's not like I can take half a star away anyway.
To sum it all up, I would NOT go back. This place is not cheap and you can get better service elsewhere.

Incredible Services
by skyfree321
After reading some of the mixed reviews some good and some bad I still decided to try out the place.
It is close to my office and conveniently located on my walk home so I walked in one day. Although they looked busy they were able to take me for a massage and a much needed pedicure after. The therapist Alex was just incredible. He used deep pressure as I requested but it I wasn't in pain during the massage. I felt my muscle relaxing and his gentle demeanor put me right at ease, he was tentative asking me how I felt, making sure I breathed properly and that I was comfortably draped. It was very professional and I can't remember that last time I enjoyed a massage as I did this. Afterwards I had a Buff Pedicure that the technician talked me into upgrading that was well worth it. They use a lot of disposable items and wear gloves so the attention to the sanitation was appreciated and the dry buffing and warm paraffin socks did wonders for my feet. This is not your average neighborhood salon. The technicians are knowledgeable and skilled.
Facial: mixed experience
by Clubnumb
I went here with a gift certificate from a friend. I asked for the purifying facial. Unfortunately, although the facial was a great experience, I was shocked to find out that I had been given-- and then paid for-- a much more expensive facial. (my efforts to speak to someone about this was met with silence.) This was a very disappointing experience and will cause me not to recommend the spa to my friends. be aware when you go in for services that you are receiving what you asked for.
- Pros: pretty lobby area; serene setting
- Cons: Ceilings need work-- and is especially obvious when you are lyng face up in the treatment rooms.
Couple massage experience
by pheyman333
I took my husband for a couple's massage for his birthday. We were their last appointment for the day. They were 15 minutes late in taking us in. We had our own private room with hot stone massages and I really enjoyed my massage. My masseuse was excellent and I felt very relaxed. The atmosphere was also very calming. Afterwards I felt a bit rushed out because it was the end of their day. I would say this is a good place to go for an enjoyable massage, not for couples because they don't really do anything to make it a special experience for a couple.
Amazing treatments
by jessica00
I just moved into the area and happened to pass by Acqua Beauty Bar and walked in for a last minute facial and a manicure. They were able to fit me in. I received a SuperSonic Skin Polisher ?they used some type of a metal implement that exfoliated my skin. It was different than any other facial I had and my skin was amazingly smooth and bright (ask for Kelly)! And whatever they use for manicures works because after five days my polish still hasn?t chipped which is a rarity for me.
DIFFERENT MANNER
by gfda
I went to there few days ago, I was so upset.Front desk's woman ,I want ask her " what's wrong with you?"Her look like fidgety and lazy, also when she told to other people so strong, but when she told to me(I mean the client ) that's very nice.Because I don't like the people who has different manner between staff and client.
