Best cuts and best hair color in NYC
by dpw215
I've been getting hair cuts from Gil for over 20 years and have never had a bad cut. He gives timeless classic cuts and makes my limp, thin hair look full of volume. He also is the only person who can make my husband's hair look good! For color, ask for Sandra. You will spend an extra 45 minutes getting it done - but it will last forever. No one believes I actually color my hair because you hardly see the roots. We've had the whole family go for big events and everyone ends up looking great.
My Wedding Day...
by sarahweil
I have to write this review for all soon to be brides. i really have to thank the Gil Ferrer Salon for all they did for my wedding day. They transormed me into my fantacy vison of what i would look like for my wedding. Vincent did my hair and makeup, it was breath taking. They also helped keep me calm on this special day...They took care of everything. All my bridesmaids, my mom and soon to be mom, even the grooms men had their haircuts here. It was perfect. I couldn't ask for any better. Thank you from the bottom of my heart Gil ferrer salon staff for making my expiernce memorable and relaxed.
- Pros: wounderful staff, excellent atmosphere, talented
The best expierence i've ever had.....

I used to have a hard time finding the perfect hair salon, until a friend of mine recommended the Gil Ferrer Salon to me. This place is perfect. As i walked in i was greeted very warmley by the staff. The atmosphere was beaufitul with tropical flowers all around. They offered me finest cappacino, the best in town by far. I felt like a movie star when i left. I was given the best cut and haircolor of my life, and trust me i.ve been everywhere. i give this place a 10 out of 10....i havent gone anywhere else since
- Pros: best cappacino, fabulous talent, great service

I had my hair thermally reconditioned by Yuki and i can't believe how straight it is! I usually have it blown out, but it doesn't even compare to how it looks/feels now. I also had it cut afterwards, and it looks great. The whole straightening process took 4.5 hours. The staff was very friendly, especially since i came in at 9. I even had a chance to talk to Gil!
The price for the straightening was what i expected it to be based on the fact that my hair is very, very thick. Other people have paid the same at other salons. I've never paid more than 50$ for a haircut before, but paying more seems to be okay with me now based on the haircut I got from Yuki.
All in all, a great experience!!
Quality services make this veteran salon a standout.

The Space
A native of Spain, Gil Ferrer worked in France and Morocco before coming to New York, first running the salon at Bergdorf Goodman, then opening his own place on the Upper East Side. Over 25 years and a couple of renovations later, the neighborhood has changed, but Ferrer is still part of the scene. Many of his devoted clients have been coming for years (often weekly, as is evidenced by how many know the staff by name), and with a relaxed vibe and the addition of new services, the salon is now attracting their children as well.
The Services
Quality cuts by Ferrer himself ($165-$215) or one of his trained stylists in the quietly chic front area and color by one of three colorists in the spacious, well-lit back room. Other services include intensive scalp treatments with steam, manicures and pedicures, waxing, the Japanese straightening treatment and relaxing feet/hand/ear reflexology sessions. Coolest of all, the salon offers a blow-out lesson ($150 with cut), where you are taught, step-by-step, how to blow-dry and style your hair--and get a video of the session to take home. An extensive array of house-blend hair products are available for sale.
The best

I walked in unhappy with my hair's color and cut, and walked out on cloud nine! Frank (cut) and Adam (color) gave me a bold new look that I love, and that I can easily maintain. The salon staff are welcoming, warm, attentive, and skillful. The best cut I've had in the City.

INCREDIBLE

I went to get a hair cut at the Gil Ferrer Salon and now I am hooked. I will never go anywhere else. I told my stylist that i wanted layers and a new look. I got exactly what I asked for. They washed and dried my hair and then using a hair razor they framed my face with layers. My hair looks awesome.

I got my hair thermally reconditioned at the Gil Ferrer Salon and it was absolutely amazing. My hair looks beautifully straight and everyone at the salon was so warm and welcoming. I was nervous at first but they made me feel right at home. I recommend this salon to everyone.
