My wife and I stayed here -- I like boutique hotels in NYC. I liked the modern look of the rooms; my wife found them a bit austere. My real complaint is that I wanted to get a drink at the bar at the top of the hotel. My wife and I went there at 8 PM to find a private party that was over at 10. Fair enough. So we go back at ten, the place is still hopping. We were turned away as decidedly unhip. Staff and management got upset when i complained, but essentially did nothing. For $450 I'll be damned if I'll take that treatment.

Pros: Great location, beautfiul interiors, generally nice staff

Cons: Don't expect to see the rooftop bar.

This Hotel tries desperately to be something it will never be. Lets start with the outdated staff. I was not able to get a single answer from anyone. Apparently there is only one person in the entire buliding that has answers to the goings on at 60 Thompson. I stayed at this place for a get away based on some of the reviews. I was informed...without much prying..by the front desk staff that the positive reviews have been posted by the STAFF!!! (SURPRISE!) this is the oldest trick in the book..and I unfortunately fell for it. No one seems to care about the guests and the concierge never knows what's going on. The managers are cluless and the 'secret answer person'..one who can tell you where to have a good dinner even....is never around. Shame on you 60 T, what a waste of a beautiful space.

Just got back from a weekend stay at 60 Thompson. I booked a King Suite for my girlfriend and I as I was I going to propose that night. We showed up at the hotel at around 1:00 but unfortunatley our room wasn't ready as check in is at 3:00. We returned to the hotel around 3:30 but the room wasn't ready yet but they offered us some cocktails on the house while we wait. Once the suite was ready we were blown away. VERY clean and the smell of fresh flowers consumed the room. The manager brought up a bottle of wine and knocked $100 off the room to make amends. Overall I think the hotel made a very comfortable stay. I feel they went out of their way to make things right and we left very happy.

Pros: Decor, Location, Romantic

We just came back from a Memorial Day weekend in NYC, and we had a great time at this hotel. The service was excellent and very prompt, and the staff was friendly. As for the other reviews posted, we had no problems with noise (the toilets are industrial, so they are pretty loud, but we did not have any problems with that), and the doorman was able to get us a cab very quickly. SoHo is great, and the subway is just a few blocks from the hotel. Bathrooms were really nice - Fresh products, Frette robes. But I have to agree with another reviewer - the towels were what you would get at a much cheaper hotel! Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to go back, as long as we get the great deal that we got using an online consolidator!

Pros: Excellent service, SoHo look and feel

Cons: Pricey

Staying at 60 Thompson is a great example of paying for pure hype. Our room looked like some set designer's idea of what a hip Soho hotel room looks like. The crowd at the bar (on a Sat night) was pure bridge and tunnel. And to top it off, our room on a freezing night in March had no heat. Half a dozen calls to the concierge yielded one threadbare extra blanket (when we asked for a good blanket like the one on the bed, the bellboy sniffed at us, "We don't have any extras of those!" Seriously!). We checked out, still freezing, at 1:00 am and they actually had the nerve to charge our credit card. Stay anywhere else.

Pros: good bath products

Cons: nonexistent service

I recently stayed at the Thompson hotel and was surprised to find the most courteous staff anywhere in NYC. I usually stay in midtown manhattan and always found the hotels there stuffy and staff rude. The Concierge team at 60 Thompson is phenomenal. One of the concierges went out of her way to help me get engaged. She found the most unusual location and it played out like a symphony. Dinner suggestions were great. The neighbourhood feels as though you are in some European country. Highly recommended. I will be back.

Pros: great restaurant, Great staff, location

Cons: expensive, noisy at times

we recently stayed there and were very disappointed with the service. things we ordered never came (bathrobes etc) and the two concierges were by far the worst i have seen in a new york hotel. They treated us with arrogance and seemed to feel special to work in the place, though they never managed to get us the tables we wanted. AC did not work either as the hotel can only do heat or ac not both at the same time. Completely overrated, we wont stay there again.

Pros: good location, cool design, cool people

Cons: slow service, arrogant staff, overpriced

Truly overrated and I'd never stay there again. I immediately cancelled the rest of my reservation after one night and moved to another hotel. We waited 2 hours for our food at Thom - it was breakfast and we were the ONLY table in the place, so I have no idea what could have been the hold up. I keep reading about how fantastic this place is but I have to wonder who's placing all this stuff in the press because it is about as far from our experience as you could get.

Cons: Pricey, Awful Service, Unhelpful Management

Our room was not ready until 2 and a half hours after check in, which at $405 a night is a bit rich. We were offered no alternate room in which to get ready or relax and there was no adjustment to our bill. Also, despite rather agreeable weather, the roof deck, which is a main draw, was closed. Service was poor. especially in the restaurant. Rooms nice, but chintsy on certain things like towels. The place will be out of business in a year unless they make some changes. Don't waste your time no matter how many celebs are supposed to have stayed at 60 Thompson.

Pros: Location

Cons: Bad Service, Boring, Expensive

Having just made a personal stay over a late January weekend, I was a bit disappointed. At the price of this hotel, I had expected more amenities, and more features of the high caliber NY hotels. The worst parts were extremely noisy neighbors in the middle of the night and smoke from the crowded evening lounge perforating into the room airducts. Also, it's location makes quickly securing a cab difficult. Nice that it's in SoHo, but I am not sure I'd come back.

Pros: SoHo & Tribeca area

Cons: Smoky
