This lounge is great. Good music and good drinks. The mixologist there made the most amazing cocktail. It's definitely for the 30+ demographic in New York who want to look good and chat with friends while enjoying the ambience and drinks. Great locale for a celebration with 5-10 friends.
Pros: Ambience, Cocktails, Music
Cons: B&T crowd on the weekends

We went here after going to a restaurant near the area. It was a nice relaxed lounge with good music in the background. Was able to get seating for most of the evening. The bartenders were great and attentive. It's a good spot to bring your date to after a nice meal. Nothing but positive things to say.
Pros: Great Lounge
Cons: None

This review is in response to the review below mine called "rude, rude, rude" . I booked a party here and the service was excellent and the food catered by Kittichai was fabulous. Clearly you don't bring your own cake and utensils to a bar unless first speaking with management....i mean come on what is this a beach family barbaque....it's very clear to me that this person wanted to have an upscale party without the price tag. Wake up and smell the catering etiquette. You wanna play then pay up! Sorry don't mean to be rude, rude, rude but lets call a spade a spade....you were being cheap. I think this is a great lounge with great drinks and food and i hate for it's reputation to go downhill because someone was too cheap to consider what the proper etiquette is to having a party.
Pros: Catered food by kittichai is amazing.
Cons: Parking is tough in the area.

I went to Thom Bar tonight for my friend's birthday. It's been a LONG time since I've encountered such rude, unhelpful, and ethically questionable service. First of all, she made reservations earlier in the week on the phone, and was only informed when she arrived that she had to open a tab for all 40 people on her credit card! Of course she was stuck since she'd already told all of her friends to meet there, and had to put down her card. I brought a birthday cake for her - one I'd baked myself - and as I was about to light the candles the manager ran up and told me there would be a $5/person fee for bringing in outside food. He then went on a rant about "outside utensils" because I'd brought paper plates and plastic forks (because I hadn't wanted to trouble the wait-staff). While I (somewhat) understand the policy, the way the manager (a short, self-important Asian guy with glasses) spoke to me was unbelievably smug and insulting. He could have been polite and empathetic - instead, he yelled at me and was incredibly condescending. Enforcing the policy itself was questionable, but my treatment was downright unforgivable. With all of the other great places to go downtown, do yourself a favor and skip Thom Bar.
Pros: There might have been some things here, but I was too disturbed by the cons to notice.
Cons: Unbelievably rude service - managers are supposed to make sure customers have a good time, not abuse them.

Even if they do make some killer cocktails (open up your wallet by the way - but heck this is NY) - I would not recommend this bar to anyone for the simple reason that it is closed for private events so frequently. The chances you will go out here for nothing are extremely high. Out of the 4 attempts I made I have found them closed 3 times. I think they should just close it to the public altogether and use it only for private event rental - at least this way you don't get the false impression you can actually have a drink here.
Pros: Good cocktails
Cons: Closed for private events all the time, slow service

A friend and I went here last night and we waited forever to see our waitress. When we asked the host if we had a waitress he took the menus out of the hands of the people he just sat and gave them to us. When she did appear we were immediately asked for a card to open a tab. I noticed throughout the night that people around us kept coming and going as they weren't getting service and there was serious lag time btwn seeing our waitress throughout the night. When we asked for the bill it took her 10 minutes to come back and was holding the card we originally gave her - without the bill. My friend gave her another card and we ask to split it. Never did we see an itemized bill. We saw that our bill looked high for 3 drinks each and 2 plates of apps. We asked for an itemized bill which took another 10 mins and that she slammed down on the table. We noticed that a 20% gratuity had been added and we were only 2 people. we never saw the whole bill. When we asked for the manager he came over and was so incredibly rude to us. Speaking to us like we were 5 yr olds and never once could explain why the 20% was added and never told us that he agreed that we should have seen the full bill in the beginning before she took another card. Both my friend and I have worked in restaurants and have seen shady people doing stuff like this but never would a manager take their side. Not cool. Glad we didn't tip her double bec she sucked, didn't deserve her 20% and the place was totally not worth the money.
Pros: Great food, drinks and a good atmosphere
Cons: Service, rude staff, hidden fees

It is astonishing how a bar in NYC keeps its standard in the eyes of consumer for so long. Thom Bar is still an elegant space that makes one feel fabulous upon arrival. The dishes that are featured at the bar are great and to the point. I also found out one can also order dishes that they feature at the restaurant, Kittichai that I actually took advantage by ordering as soon as I was told. The interior is edgy yet comfortable and stylish not to mention the atractive staff that from the door to the bartendes.

I am in love with the Thom Bar. First, the food is amazing! I love the fusion of flavors. Second, the ambiance - the decor, lighting and music all compliment each other (and me for that matter). Third, the drinks I like the selection of wines, and the mixed drinks are made well. Finally, the company - I always have a good time there with classy, fun people.
Pros: Ambience, Service

I go to Thom Bar about twice a month. The staff is nothing but friendly and accomadating (not to mention attractive). When I was leaving one night the hostess knew that it had started raining, so she went and got me an umbrella from the desk downstairs! I love the atmosphere here. It is a great place where you can still feel like you are hanging out with someone without that intensity of a business meeting or a first date. It is a nice place to take a client. The drink menu and atmosphere offers subject for good conversation, and the setup is private but condusive to mingling and networking.
Pros: atmosphere
Cons: ain't cheap, but worth it

So, I read the reviews and took my chances because I had to go for a birthday party, but it was every bit as bad as other people said it was. The service was TERRIBLE, the people who worked there are as obnoxious as everyone said they were (except for the manager, Keisha who is actually mad cool). Noone should have to go out and spend a fortune to be treated like crap. And you will at some point meet the imfamous "doorman" that shouldn't be allowed to interact with the public. There are PLENTY of other places to go.
