The Scene
Months before Todd English hit Manhattan with Union Square's sweeping Olives, the celebrity chef premiered a branch of his excellent eat-and-run chain Figs in LaGuardia Airport. The design is spare and comfortable, with deep leather booths and a generously sized bar; a blazing pizza oven adds a rustic note. It's a perfect environment to sit back with a good martini or settle in for a full meal.

The Food
Figs' eclectic yet accessible Mediterranean fare is tasty and hugely portioned. Start with a giant Caesar salad, a wild mushroom ragu finished with truffle oil, or a barbecue turkey panini with jalapeno slaw. Thin-crust flatbread pizzas are especially good, like a spicy chicken sausage version rendered with herbed ricotta, onions, and an unusually sweet tomato sauce.
