Hidden Jewel in the Heart of NYC

by markieprice18

The Chambers Hotel is by far one of the most unique and luxurious places to stay in New York City. The staff is courteous and knowledgeable, and the loft-like rooms are well designed, spacious and quiet. With various works of high-end contemporary art hung throughout, the hotel is practically an art gallery in and of itself. I also love the fact that the Chambers is centrally located (in the heart of Manhattan), and offers quick and easy access to all kinds of shopping, entertainment, and restaurants (although Town restaurant within the hotel is an amazing dining experience as well). Whether you're coming to New York for business or pleasure, this charming hotel will provide you with a comfortable and glamorous stay. It is a cut above the rest.

  • Pros: Service, Amenities, chic & modern atmosphere
  • Cons: There aren't more around the country

Style, service and a downtown vibe meet at a perfect midtown location.

by Sandra Ramani

The Scene
From the two-story lobby fireplace and industrial-chic elevators to 14 different artist-designed hallways, the townhouse-style hotel has a personal, true boutique feel.

The Details
The 77 loft-like rooms include comfortable standards and deluxes (with rainwater-head showers or extra-deep tubs), plus a stunning duplex with flat-screen TVs and terrace; all boast clean, modern decor accented by bursts of color and textures like silk, velvet, mohair and leather. Curated pieces of original artwork, film and fine art books and unique furnishings make it feel like you're crashing with your coolest friend. Amenities include Archipelago linens, Frette bathrobes, Bumble and bumble hair products, CD/DVD players and library, 24-hour room service, data ports, laundry and tailoring, and a fitness facility; computer rentals, car and spa services available upon request.

Oasis of Cool

by chicflic

Stayed at Chambers in January and thought it was wonderful. The hotel has a very hip vibe, and is literally 100 meters from the luxurious 5th Avenue. We stayed in a "Studio" room which was pricey, but very large. The rooms have beautiful wood floors, and a shower that has to be experienced to believe (think bathing in a waterfall).

Downstairs their crowded bar seems to be the only cool place to drink within 2 miles. We tried the restaurant but were VERY upset to wait 30 minutes for a simple cup of coffee, or even the attention of the single waiter. Otherwise, the service was friendly and sufficient. Lennin - the concierge/bellman/manager was especially helpful and let us in on "secret underground" places to eat and party in New York - he appears to be at the front desk 24 hrs/day, ask him for recommendations if you stay here.

  • Pros: Amazing Shower, Lennin, Cool bar
  • Cons: Restaurant

Nice place

by pjlee1971

Stayed at the Chambers over a weekend in April. Booked a room online, but the hotel did not have any deluxe rooms remaining. Upgraded to a suite with a balcony overlooking 56th St., which was very nice. Contrary to other reviews, the bed was fine and the hotel was extremely quiet. An excellent alternative to Ian Schrager's hotels or the W. It's a little pricier, but worth it.

  • Pros: Modern, quiet, Balcony in suite

try 60 Thompson instead

by dianablackham

Poor reservationists. Did not honor Tablet website rate even with proof of reservation. Beds are too soft -- not good for those used to upscale hotels with good supporting beds. Door man never around to open those big ass doors. Had to call twice for turn down service. Requested a tub instead of a shower to bathe infant, but Chambers unable to accommodate. Try 60 Thompson or Maritime instead.

  • Pros: internet access
  • Cons: , rude
