YUMMMMMMMM!!!!
by sixnohit
My friends and I went to Blue Fin after seeing a show. We ended up showing up a half hour earlier than our reservation. We were seated immediately. We started off with a selection of sushi rolls. Those were gone in no time. I had the Lobster/Shrimp bisque. I really wanted to order another one as it was so good. Instead of having lumps of lobster and shrimp on top, there was a little salad...almost like a seafood salad. The mixture of the celery and green onions added a little extra flavor to the bisque. Only thing that I would have asked for would have been a little topping of creme fraiche. I had the Sauteed hailbut with lemon herb gnocchi, mushrooms and lump crab. I'm not a fan of gnocchi so I only ate a couple of them. The halibut was so light and flaky. Everything was cooked perfectly. For dessert I had the Upside Down Chocolate Souffle cake. OH MY GOD!!!! It was chocolate goodness. There was a nice size scoop of ice cream along side the cake. We were so full that I wanted to get a room at the W and just sleep off the food coma that I was in. The only reason I won't give 5 stars is because of the placement of the downstairs bathroom. It's right near the kitchen and server area. It's a unisex bathroom which isn't a big deal but there's only one. There's no good place to stand if there's a line. I would have gone upstairs but my foot was in an air cast and stairs are not the best for me. Other than that, I'd go back to Blue Fin again. The food was excellent.
- Pros: Everything...the food is tremendous
- Cons: Downstairs bathroom is near the kitchen/server area. No room.
Beware of unpublished specials

chose this restaurant because of its location and online menu, but when ordering, was told that there was a foie gras special as an appetizer. unless you are familiar with this barbaric practice of expanding and extracting goose liver through torture and suffering, no reason to think this is an issue. if you aren't familiar with it, please educate yourself and insist that restaurants ban this item from their selections. i would never have selected blue fin had they listed this option on their online menu (which may be why they keep it a secret). blue fin - if you're listening - please do the right thing so that i can come back in good conscience and enjoy other items on your menu. otherwise, portions were small but tasty, prices are steep, and service was excellent. if you're a local, sit upstairs away from the hordes of tourists in TS.
- Pros: service, quality
- Cons: prices, portions, misrepresentation on menu
The best place for SUSHI
by JSHarris77
I ate at a lot of sushi places and this place has the best yellow tail. It melts in your mouth you dont even need teeth to chew it. All of their sushi is good you cant go wrong. I ate here many times and i've never been dissapointed. If there was a 6th star this place would get it for sure.
- Pros: music,ambiance,sushi
Fresh Seafood, Touristy Spot
by Osado
I went here last night with my friend for Summer Restaurant Week. Ironically I did not order from the Restaurant Week menu as there was nothing interesting to choose from. So I ordered the tuna crusted with sesame seeds, cooked medium rare. The tuna itself was delicious, prepared just the way I like it, however I was dispointed with so little sides (came with white rice and vegetables). Interesting enough this place does have one of the freshest seafood I've ever had. (I also ordered the spicy tuna roll, very yummy). The ambiance was great too although it's a tourist's spot since it's in Times Square, so the noise was loud. I recommend going there later than 8pm to avoid the broadway show crowd.
- Pros: Ambience, Service, Fresh Seafood
- Cons: Crowded, Avoid the Restaurant Week Menu
Great Live Music at the Cozy Bar Upstairs
by Powerfulrobot
We ducked in to Blue Fin when it started sleeting after being dragged to Grease! The all glass bar on the street level was packed but the host told us there was seating on the second level. After making our way up a gorgeous wide stairway we found our new favorite Times Square bar! There was a jazz duo in the corner and a great wine selection to help warm us up. Then we found out the full dinner menu was available at the bar and my wife had a bowl of great clam chowder and I had a crab cake that was a little small but perfectly tender and not too greasy. We were so happy to have found the place that we had another glass of wine and stayed until the band packed up and went home.
I never have high hopes in Times Square but this was one of those memorable nights when you stumble upon something that is just perfect. I wonder how much longer until word gets out and the upstairs bar is as crowded as the downstairs.
- Pros: Warm atmosphere, great wines
- Cons: a little pricey, but on par with the neighborhood
Hip Seafood
by renee_james
The girls and I tried this place out for Restaurant Week and I must say that I was impressed. The Staff was warm and attentive (the manager was a cutie) and the seafood was really fresh. The decor was impeccable and this all nestled in the lunacy called Times Square, lol. A definate must do for seafood lovers who can appreciate a trendy atmosphere. I enjoyed everything that I ate and I am not a seafood lover and very picky at that. They have an extensive wine selection so if you'd rather not dine there's always the bar. I'd go back, next time preferrably on a date.
- Pros: Great Service, Great Atmosphere
- Cons: Its in Times Square

I am in love with Lana Trevisan. She is the director of operations, partner of blue fin and b r guest restaurant group. I eat lunch at blue fin 3 times a week in hopes i will see her walk up and down the stairs. She makes the food taste better.
Excellent Seafood! Great Atmosphere!
by nyurebel1980
Blue Fin is a great place for seafood lovers. The decor and atmosphere are very beautiful. They have two great bars if you just want to hang out for a drink. The staff is friendly and attentive. If only two of you are dining, you don?t even need reservations, as the place is huge and they turn tables pretty quickly. The sushi is very fresh at this place, and they put together delicious options. However, the best thing about this place is the fish. They take high quality cuts of fish and prepare it in innovative ways with great ingredients. The specials always change and are always awesome. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who likes fish. The desserts are good, typical of the BRGUEST restaurant group.
- Pros: Atmosphere, Service, Seafood, Seating
- Cons: Times Square
