The best birthday party thanks to Paradou! The best!
by JaredOU
My fiance chose Paradou for my birthday party. What a great choice! We were treating as if we were family and the guys working became instant friends of ours. Alex and Ronan, thank you so much! Paradou is VERY HIGHLY recommended!
- Pros: The staff - treating us like family!
- Cons: None
Best Brunch?!? What a joke.
by gerina3
No where in the description about the 'Best Brunch Deal in Town' does it say that Paradou will charge an additional 50% for booking a large party. We were looking forward to a nice celebratory brunch and then we find out that the brunch will not be $29 as advertised but $45. Not the end of the world or breaking the bank and normally this kind of miscommunication wouldn't warrant a poor review but the reservationist was rude and pretentious. A fair warning needed to be issued to those thinking of spending any money here.
- Pros: Atmosphere, Food
- Cons: The staff
The Perfect Wedding Reception!
by fdlvr99
Our Wedding was on May 22, a beautiful day in the Conservatory Gardens of Central Park.
After the ceremony, our guests were taken to Paradou for the reception, and from beginning to end, it was a magical night! While always a special place with excellent food, the reception was amazing.
We arrived and were shown to the private garden, where our guests were greeted with Champagne cocktails & hors d'ouvres that melted in your mouth. The garden was lovely, the tables were decorated with candles and beautiful flower arrangements (florist recommended by Alex), which were arranged on the outside of the room, so everyone could mingle.
The servers who passed the hors d'ouvres, were friendly and professional; attentive, but without hovering or intruding on the festivities. When we took our seats, we were treated to a delectable menu that Chef Kfir prepared especially for us. Everything was delicious, expertly prepared, and served quickly and efficiently (not an easy task with so many people eating at once).
The wine that Alex selected for us was excellent, and flowed all night. The evening was magical and everyone has said it was the best reception they've ever attended.
We will return return to Paradou often, as will our guests.
We can't wait to sample Chef Kfir's Carte des Foie Gras!
Thanks again to all of the staff, and especially to Alex and Chef Kfir who worked so hard to make this evening so very special.
Bon Appetit!
- Pros: delicious food, excellent service, lovely atmosphere.
Valentine's Day failure ends my love affair with this place
by e02m12f22
I'll say this, I have counted on Paradou for a good menu and proper execution of its courses time and time again. Usually I do not have a problem and am rewarded with hearty dishes straight out of France. As documented perfectly by the commentator below me, Paradou provided substandard service, adequate-at-best food, and enflated prices for this year's valentine's day. The fact that the dining room was packed with two seater tables rather than the intermingling of larger tables made sense from a financial aspect. The restaurant was trying to maximize its couples seating. Fine. Here is a tip, get more servers. The servers were clearly overwhelmed which led to mistakes such as incorrect wine being brought to my table, appetizers being brought twice, and no water service. I really would chalk this all up to a very busy and likely abnormal evening for the restaurant if it wasnt for the fact that the prix fixe menu was substandard and overpriced. Tack on a n included 20% gratuity, and I began to understand what the business model was for this evening. Expend as little as possible, charge as much as possible. In a city with this many options, a night like Valentine's Day 2009, is precisely how you lose returning patrons. Good bye Paradou.
Pricey Valentines Dinner
by maminyc
My boyfriend and I made advanced reservations for V-day which we later realized was strictly for a pre-fixe menu. We were packed like sardines in the garden area and paid over $200 for dinner for two. I asked the waiter if i could avoid the sauce on the fish which he said was not possible. He later said not to worry because I would like it...I explained I was lactose intolerant and merely trying to avoid so much dairy. The food was fine, but the pre-fixe way overpriced considering no wine was included. Wine turned out to be up to $14 per glass. They also took the liberty of adding gratuity to the bill (I understand this is standard for larger party, but this was for 2 people). We were not impressed and will not be back.
Horrible experience
by silviab28
The food was good, the service was ok, but their attitude was the worst.
I spend the New Year's Eve there along with 3 other friends.
Before we were leaving, one of my friends went to the rest room and we were waiting for her in front of the bar.
One of the owners was there, totally drunk, cursing people out. He ended up pushing me and telling me to get the f** out of there.
If you want to spend your money an than be humiliated, this is the one place i would highly recommend.
Very enjoyable

I found this place simply by searching citysearch for a French restaurant in an area of the city with the possibility of parking. The atmosphere was very nice, pretty empty when we arrived but busier later in the night. Wait staff was very friendly. Tried wild boar for the first time, very good. I would recommend this restaurant.
Worst dining experience ever

When we arrived at the restaurant we had to squeeze into an extremely cramped space. We were unable to move for the duration of the meal.We then had to wait an extremely long time to place our order, when our waiter eventually appeared he said that he had 'forgotten' us.One of the clearers then knocked over a glass of champagne which went all over my mother's clothes,my clothes and inside my handbag. There was no acknowledgement or apology or even the offer to replace the spilt drink. At this point I went to speak to the manager. The hostess advised me that I didn't need to do that as she would relay anything I had to say.She insisted on knowing who had spilt the drink,I explained to her that this wasn't really the issue and it was more that no one had bothered to apologise or replace the drink. She came over to the table with me and on prompting offered us a 'free' drink. As we had ordered unlimited champagne brunch this was a little redundant,my mother and friend opted for coffee. Our waiter delivered 2 cold cups of coffee. The hostess returned to tell us that our waiter was the best they had and that he had spoken to us to offer us complimentary drinks and dessert. We told her that he had not said a single word to us and she again told us he was the best waiter there and implied that it was us who were being dishonest. She then returned for a third time with a dessert for the 3 of us to share, told us that everything was fine as we had food and drink so we must be happy, told us our waiter had not spoken to us was 'he wanted to suprise us with drinks and dessert'.One dessert between 3,2 cold coffees and a glass of champagne that was already paid for were no suprise based on the poor level of service we had come to expect. The hostess brought us our check,no one bothered to ask if we wanted more coffee etc.We paid the check and left. The hostess then took it upon herself to follow us in the street and shout something that we did not hear as we were some yards away.
amazing restaurant

This restaurant is so good! I ate there for an office holiday party, and even with a set menu i was blown away. The grilled shell steak with potato gratin & mesclun salad was unbelievable, and they had a great selection of dessert wines to go with their dessert. Great place, i totally recommend it.
