Can We Have Some Help Here?

by bluehensfan at Citysearch

Nice looking small modern boutique hotel located a block from Grand Central Station. Tasteful looking, very quiet rooms with high ceilings, 27 inch TV's but no DVD or CD players, and no 1000 CD library as their web site promises. No bathrobes or slippers as advertised but iron and safe (which did not work due to low battery). The real problem is the indifferent, unaccomodating staff. For instance, our room was not ready at check in and if you need a taxi, they direct you to run down the street a block and hail one yourself. I travel to Manhattan often and would not consider a return visit.

  • Pros: Location, Quiet rooms
  • Cons: , Lack of amenities

Sleek minimalism and smooth service in the former Chemists Club of New York.

by Sandra Ramani at Citysearch

The Scene
After a multimillion-dollar renovation, the Dylan Hotel sits serenely in what was once the meeting place of New York's top chemists.

The Details
The dim corridors and 107 spacious guest rooms (standard, executive and deluxe) balance a clean, stark design with a few warm touches; think upscale European hostel-chic. Blank pale walls, modern furnishings and marble bathrooms (eight with bathtub or whirlpool) are offset by sapphire taffeta curtains, ultra-seude accents and 11-foot-high ceilings. The two-bedroom penthouse with landscaped terrace is all-white, L.A.-meets-Greek island, while the unique Alchemy Suite is a gothic chamber built in 1932 that features vaulted ceilings and stained-glass windows. Two-line phones, data ports, high-speed Internet, high-end toiletries, Frette sheets, CD players and library, complimentary newspaper and in-house entertainment system in all rooms; most rooms are nonsmoking. A 24-hour gym, fax machine and computer rentals are also available.

great experience

by mat5 at Citysearch

I had to stay here because the W was booked - and wat a great surprise. I stayed with my girlfriend for and they overbooked the two rooms so the upgraded me to the alchemy suite - it took my breath away. It has the best hotel bathroom, high cielings with georgeous architectual details. It has totally cured me of my "4-star only" rule. Will definitely stay there again.

Romantic Getaway

by illyrias at Citysearch

We stayed for one night in rainy May, and it was great. The room was totally secluded, and we never heard anyone else, including from the busy New York streets. The setting was very sleek and romantic with low lighting options and a generous bed.

  • Pros: Romantic, Quiet, Good location
  • Cons: Trashy View

First Class

by greggfoto at Citysearch

What a great hotel...everything it advertised and more. My wife and I spent four days at the hotel and it couldn't have been more perfect (they even helped me arrage to have flowers delivered to the room prior to our arrival). The staff was outstanding, the room was beautiful and the front desk helped us find a wonderful restaurant and suggested a great club afterwards...they know New York! We can't wait to go back!

  • Pros: staff, decor, service
  • Cons: restaurant

Great room and service. Unfortunately, the surrounding area tends to be a bit dead at night. Would definitely stay again.

Stylish and Quiet

by Henlein at Citysearch

I stayed at the Dylan on 9/13 and it was great. Service was attentive, the room stylish and incredibly quiet. Two of us shared one room and one king size bed- and we were very comfortable. I'd go again.

Great room service.

by poaq at Citysearch

I stayed at the dylan hotel on the 19th, and the hotels room service is provided by NYLA restaurant. The menu selection was good, but the service was out of this world. The attendant on the phone was extremely helpful in helping with my wine selection. A total class act.

  • Pros: room service, service, quiet

Very Nice!

by dmckee at Citysearch

I found the Dylan to be very nice. The staff was competent and polite. Room service staff was very friendly. My complaint was the room service menu. Brittney Spears restaurant is in this hotel so the room service menu is not great, and overpriced. But overall my stay was great.

  • Pros: nice rooms, good location, friendly staff
  • Cons: no gift shop, RS menu lacking

All style and no substance...

by jaylake at Citysearch

Beautiful furniture, beds and lighting, but poor customers service. Found the staff unorganized and un-helpful. I had to wait an hour for my room. Housekeeping never cleaned my room. Manager has yet to follow up with me. I visit Manhattan often, but would not stay at the Dylan again.
