Great place to WAIT!
by RcLou86 at Citysearch
Went there to celebrate a friends birthday on a Saturday night. Got there at 11:40pm for midnight reservation, wasn't seated until 12:45am and didn't get our food until almost 2:00am. The food was good but definitely not worth the wait or the price.
$25 for 2 drinks -> they were good but "c'mon son!"
And you have to walk through the kitchen to get to the bathroom, made random.
- Pros: Food, ambience, and drinks
- Cons: Wait time,

My wife & I have been coming to Negril for a few years from NJ. We celebrate every occasion from Birthdays to Anniversaries. Tonight we celebrate our 9th wedding anniversary & the food & ambiance were great.
Great time

I had a dinner party for 13 people last week. We were late and we were told that there would be a long wait to so they seated us in the lounge. I heard the lounge was really loud so I wasnt pleased but knew there was nothing I could do since we were late.
To my delight the lounge was the best move for us. There wasnt that many people down there when we arrived so we got exceptional service. The food was great, the music was great and after we ate, everyone was able to get up and dance. We went at 8pm at 11pm before it got really crowded. Great place for a dinner party. Just so you know if you bring a cake there is a $15 fee which is very reasonable.
- Pros: food, service, music
- Cons: none
terrible food. great everything else

Food= an utter disappointment, I was suprised to see that there are actually west indians in the kitchen cooking. I had the lamb first and sent it back, it was dry and flavorless. Then I had oxtails which were standard, nothing special at all. Then the next time I had the jer k shrimp with macaroni and cheese and garlic steamed vegetables. The jer k shrimp was only 5 shrimp, the shrimp were char grilled and too hot. I love spicy food, but this was the painful type of spicy where you dont even enjoy the food. I had to scrape off the layers of jer k seasoning on it. The macaroni and cheese is dry and dull. The garlic veggies tasted like the veggies you steam in the bag at home, and there was no garlic whatsoever. My gma orderd a seafood roti and it was beautiful but it tasted like the chef dropped a box of salt in it. I could go on for days but I wont.
Music= great, very engaging. we all stood up and danced and sang, the band is GREAT
Atmosphere= great vibe I really like it
Wait Staff= excellent, they cleared the table after everything we ate and were very attentive. Im a waitress and I took some pointers from her on how to improve my service
Nice bathroom, with the mouthwash and mints etc.
- Pros: music and atmosphere, great drinks
- Cons: the food
Great time after all

I held my 30th birthday party here in Sept 08 and it turned out beautifully. I found Liz, the event planner, difficult to work with but luckly I didn't have to deal with her on the actual night of the event. Everyone was extremely nice and super helpful. The staff was attentive and made sure my 25 guests and I had a great time. The food and service was excellent considering it was big group. My celebration continued at the Rhum Lounge downstairs and again the service was top-notch. It seemed like the dj was experimenting which was annoying but we made the best of it and had a great time.

OUTSTANDING SERVICE, Great food (in the lounge area)

The following was an email that I wrote to the catering manager. I bought a package that catered to twenty-five people which included appetizers, one bottle of Moet and one bottle of liqour for my cousin's bday:
I would like to thank you for the outstanding service that was provided to my group on the night of ****. Everyone complimented the food so much and the waiter was amazing and catered to everyone's need that night. The bartender ****was amazing, as well! I really do appreciate this and can't wait to do business in the future with you again. We had such a great time! Thanks alot!
- Pros: No waiting time (for the lounge area), delicious exotic appetizers, outstanding service
- Cons: Parking is crazy, coat check in, expensive drinks
Best lounge, best service, best fun

I really had a great time this past weekend. I had my birthday party at the Negril Village. I used their lounge and services. Everything was absolutely wonderful. I had the best service. From the planning down to the every little details was taken care of. My event planner Liz was amazing. She made sure that I had the best. Then my waiter Dwayne...one word hot and best...(okay two words). The entire staff was just wonderful. Even though some of my guest were late, everything went smoothly. The DJ was on point too.
I will recommend this place to any one in need of a good time. Eliminate stress by getting one of the packages. The environment was cozy and sophisticated. Also the bathrooms were kept the entire night....
Thank you guys...I had a blast and will definitely come back soon.
- Pros: Elimnate stress by ordering the package
- Cons: I did not know that additional bottle would cost me the same amount as the table service:(
Good food, terrible atmosphere, awesome wait staff
by bze at Citysearch
I'd have to agree with most of the postings on city search----the hostess is horrendous. Rude, impatient and hostile----though the host was more accommodating and friendly. Our wait staff more than made up for it---our bus boy and our waiter were welcoming and attentive. The food, of course, is why we went---and it definitely lived up to our expectations. I was expecting the Roti to be dry, but was pleasantly surprised. Our drinks were tasty and the background music was just right. The crowd left something to be desired---especially in the crowded waiting space---people should really think before they speak, but I guess management can't really control that. I'd go back---but probably during the week on an off night.
Poor management (esp. the stank hostess), great atmosphere!

The food at Negril is pretty good but the management is the WORST! The hostess....tall, slim, with a blunt bob, is rude, unfriendly, unhelpful, and she usually seems exasperated. If you've been a few times, then you know who I mean. Negril should hire someone that can better handle the stress of a high volume restaurant.
The restaurant is equiped to handle large groups (in terms of size and atmosphere), the mangagement is NOT. I have been numerous times, with and without reservations. If you attend with a group, make sure that everyone arrives on time (take the limited parking and unpredicatable traffic into consideration). They absolutely will not seat you if members of your party are missing. There is no waiting area, so your entire party will have to wait in a tight space. If you arrive on time, expect to wait a bit anyway.
The cocktails are very great, and if you know the right night to go, the downstairs lounge is fun... Despite the con's, I still recommend it. The music, food, drinks, are original....
- Pros: drinks, ambiance, food
- Cons: MANAGEMENT
