Well done Peter!

by Ive1

Very happy with the outcome. Considering I had a mental day at work, it was a spur of a moment decision to have some "pick me up". I went there with a Groupon Now! voucher expecting so so service considering it was a voucher service. I came out of the place looking amazing. My hair was washed beautifully and very energetic. Blow-out was done by Peter himself and I love the fact he was not trying to sell me anything or criticize my hair. He was very easy to talk to, very professional and he took his time with my hair and I have plenty of hair! I was complimented by everyone who I spoke to. Very happy indeed!!

Good job -- see you soon, Corina!!

by BrigitaM

I love long hair. I always have and always will. But DNA is not on my side, so instead of waiting a hundred years for my hair to grow I go to my Great Lengths good fairy Corina at Peter Louis salon where she does her magic. I’ve tried other brands but there’s nothing like Great Lengths for me. The texture and shine are amazing, definitely not synthetic Barbie hair that I have had the unfortunate chance of experiencing (what a nightmare). Not only does Corina do my extensions she also colors my hair because she understands what I want. Yes I sound very demanding, but I know what I want and I get it all at Peter Louis salon.

Maria is the best!!!

by greekolga

Before I came to Peter Louis Salon to have the Japanese Hair Straightening, it would take me an hour to flat iron (and kill) my hair. My friends are loyal customers and always raved about Maria. I was hesitant to spend so much money on my hair, but once it was done, and to this day, I feel it was the best money I ever spent on myself.

Maria did an incredible job. Every single strand of my hair is pin straight. She had sooooo much patience. My hair is really long, so it took almost 4 hours for her to do the flat ironing part. She must have been in so much pain, but didn’t complain at all. She was the only one to flat iron me too, so it made it more time consuming for her, and I'm sure more painful. The process took all day, but again, well worth it! Maria is hysterical and had me engaged in fun conversations that made the day go by very quickly.

As for how my hair looks, I am not exaggerating when I say that I have gotten compliments every single day since this was done to my hair, by perfect strangers, co-workers, family members… anyone! My hair is super silky and shiny. It actually looks and feels healthier than ever! People used to tell me that the Japanese straightening kills your hair, but I feel the total opposite! I love being able to comb my hair after showering and not having to do another thing to it and it looks just perfect. The environment in Peter Louis is nice too. Smaller than what I expected, but I liked that about it because it made the experience more comfortable. Peter Louis was there and asked if I needed any products. I didn’t buy any, and I liked that he wasn’t pushy about selling them to me. He was really nice and so were all the girls in his salon. They were all so friendly and accomodating. I actually cancelled and reschedueled my appointment about 5 times, and the receptionist was so nice about it. I thought I was being so annoying, but she didn't seem annoyed at all.

I don’t get excited about too many things, but every day I look at my hair, it excites me. I really have Maria to thank for that. She is so knowledgeable and the bottom line is that I will never go anywhere else or use anyone else to get Japanese straightening. I am going every year for touch ups. It is so worth it, and I honestly think that the stylist you use makes a huge difference. I love Maria… she is the best and has changed my life by making it so much easier!

Color Me Happy

by cchase16

My work brought me to NYC from LA and after several months I was desperate to find a colorist/stylist to do my highlights. Serendipity (and the need to have hair extensions removed) took me to the Peter Louis Salon on east 57th and to Meira. My experience with Meira and my difficult hair extension removal gave me confidence to try color with her. I've been with the same colorist in LA for over 10 years - colorist to the stars, yet I prefer the highlights I received with Meira. She took time with me, discussing what I wanted and what she planned to do. Not only did I love the results, I enjoyed the calm, relaxed salon experience and Meira's professional yet extremely personal manner. She also styled my hair beautifully and I couldn't be happier. Of course with any quality salon be prepared to pay a competitive price. With that said, it was noticeably less than what I pay in LA and it was well worth the money. Meira's care, expertise and overall kindness will be greatly missed when I return to LA.

Meira Ottomano for BEST japanese straightening

by Sofie8180

After years of HATING my dry, frizzy, curly hair & dreading the rain or even the slightest humidity I started to do a lot of research on japanese straightening. I searched all over the internet and saw some very scary reviews from women whose hair was destroyed & some amazing reviews from those who loved it. The product could be the same, but the ultimate deciding factor which determined success or disaster seemed to be the stylist who does the job.

Since I didnt know anyone personally who had done this before it took me a long time to get up the courage to trust someone. I hated my hair but damaging it further wouldve been disastrous. So, I did hours of research, through the Milbon website & read hundreds of reviews, said a prayer and found Meira. There were a few others who I had my eye on who also had great reviews but something about what was said about her sparked my interest. Anyway, I took the chance and went to see her. She took her time and explained everything so well that it was apparent she knew this process INSIDE & OUT which put my mind at ease. I also saw her book with pics of before and afters which was very helpful to see. But the ultimate test was the actual results.

Meira did an unbelievable, AMAZING job. If you see/touch my hair you could never ever tell that it was straightened. Its really silky, shiny and soft. It looks like naturally straight, healthy hair. Somehow it looks like the product even reversed the last 8 years of damage done by my flat iron. Its like totally different hair...unrecognizable.

Meira is the ONLY person I will ever allow to use this product on my hair, because although the product is wonderful, if the stylist is not properly trained, experienced, careful and really just good at it, it could have very bad results. Meira is not only talented but you can tell she really loves what she does. She really explains every step and exactly what she is doing. She is a real professional and has a client for life in my and MY MOM. My mom is in her early 70's and also was tired of constantly blow drying her naturally curly hair so she had it done as well with the same wonderful results. Everything I said is DITTO for her! We will both be back religiously for touchups on new hair growth. I could never ever go back to being a slave to the flat iron. I love washing my hair now. I do not blow dry or use any kind of heat styling at all. Out of the shower I comb my hair and let it air dry. Washing my hair was always such a long and tiring PROCESS and the worst part about it was that as soon as I went outside in the humidity all that work was out the window anyway. I lived in NYC much of my life and going out in the rain was the ultimate mood killer because whether just trying to quickly catch a cab or walk to the train, it usually meant being exposed to the elements for a few minutes and thats all it took to ruin 1.5 hours of hair ironing. So frustrating. Now I have NO fear of rain or any type of humidity. My hair looks just as good in any weather and regardless I spend no time on it in general. If I am going out to an event or something dressy I will spend maybe 5-10 minutes to curl the ends and bangs with a dryer, thats it. If you are going to have this done, I can promise you that Meira is the best, safest way to go. I could not be happier.

Great cut and color!

by Celeste laPerla

I went to the salon today for a cut and color after hearing positive feedback from a friend. Everyone was very friendly. The service was great and I left very happy with my new hair style! Peter did the cut and Corina did my color. They took their time and ended up doing just what I wanted!

A super colorist at your salon

by French 52

Peter Louis salon has an excellent colorist: Michael. I have known him for about 15 years and have followed him around. I also go to his place in Eastern Long Island. Having lived in France for 30 years, I was used to hairdressers that tend (I overgeneralize a bit) not to listen to their clients but do what they feel will look good on them. When I arrived in NY, I tried a lot of salons: most were fine but all of them were on the expensive side. Then I met Michael: since then, he has cut my hair and colored them, sometimes blond, sometimes reddish. He always listened to me and is careful about what I wish, what I can have (what will work) and he always makes me feel good about myself. Last year, my blond highlights were beautiful and this year the little bit of red he savantly dosed made a lot to make me look better during the winter. I'll sum up in one word: GO!

finally no more searching

by chrisny10024

I finally found a colorist who knows color and how to compliment it to my skin tone. I have grey hair and I have been to about 5 different salons and was not happy with any of the results. Some were ok but I was never really thrilled. I saw one of my husbands friends from their "modeling" days and she gave me Michael's name. Her color was amazing and she has been going to him for years. She even travels from New Jersey to the hamptons to see him in the summer. So, I tried him and I knew from the consultation that I was in good hands. He told me what would look best on me and explained why. Everyone else always made me too dark. He did have to do some corrective work to get rid of the old color from before but it was worth the time to fix as he made me this beautiful natural brown color with a few highlights. It literally changed the look of my skin tone. I dont look washed out anymore and I feel great. Better yet, since he works in the hamptons as well as NYC I can see him when I go to my house in Southampton as well! The price was good also, he was not as expensive as the some of the others I went to. Not cheap but definately not overpriced.

Terrible work!

by annyc72

I was at this salon a few weeks ago as a model , to see Michael, a colorist at the Peter Louis salon. I really needed my hair done and was excited. I should had known this was to good to be true. Michael claims he has been in the business many years, but had no clue what he was doing, I wanted blonde highlights with my natural brown hair. To my horror he mad my hair bright red, my roots was a peachy red color, I wanted to die. I could not really say anything as I was a model, but I did not sign up to ruin my hair, , I did not expect this. He was able to get the help of his coworker to fix my hair, after she came over looked at my hair and had to tell him what to do. Another sign he didn't have a clue. I was left to dry my own hair and left. Now that I've washed my hair several times the red is showing again. I'm so depressed, I should have waited till I could afford my own colorist. Now I have ugly red hair , my hair is breaking from all the work he did,and it will cost me a fortune to fix with a reputable colorist. Michael sucks. I feel sorry for the clients that actually pay for service with this guy, what a joke.
