The Scene
The brainchild of Dr. JoAnn Weinrib, a chiropractor and experienced holistic healer, Body Central tackles the pitfalls of urban living with unique, integrated treatments. Despite its alternative tendencies, Body Central's atmosphere is less New Age-y than your average yoga studio; the 3,500-square-foot loft is more like a peaceful, airy doctor's office. Weinrib herself is smart, perceptive and nurturing, offering practical tips and solid advice; the staff is friendly and very well-trained.

The Services
For stress- and pain-relief, the center offers more types of massage than we knew existed, including myofacial, CranioSacral, lymphatic, pregnancy, Thai, Reiki, energy rebalancing, menstrual health and post-mastectomy. In a eucalyptus-scented room, sinuses are effectively drained using massage, chiropractic techniques, electric stimulation and cool compresses. Personal training, ultrasound treatments, meditation, yoga, Alexander Technique, herb dispensary, TMJ relief and customized nutritional counseling are also available.

Fix Me Up!

I should start by saying that I have an unnatural fear of chiropractors and have avoided them at all costs. I came to Body Central on the advice of a friend, with a nagging injury, and was very pleased with the results. Dr. Weinrib listened to what I had to say, gave me a full body evaluation, and then after heat and ultrasound were applied, got to work on fixing my body. I left there knowing that I would have to come back (and how many sessions it would take), but also knowing that my injury would go away in a few weeks between office visits and a home care program. The doctor's diagnosis, treatment and timeline were right on the money. I have since gotten massages there and was very happy with the skill and attentiveness of the masseur.

I can breathe again!

Dr. Joanne Weinrib's "Sinus Treatment" saved me! I quit smoking, and I thought everything would clear up immediately. But things get worse before they get better. I didn't know that. But Dr. Weinrib did. In addition to curing me with her treatment, she knew which vitamins I should take as a recent non-smoker. And she knew that my leg pain was b/c a shoddy trainer made me do lunges -- even though they're next to impossible to get right. And that the thing on my neck wasn't a tumor -- but an out of alignment vertabra. and on. and on. Her approach is serious, holistic, hopeful, no-nonsense, personal and caring. I've also had a cranial-massage there, and it was sublime. Like immediate and deep meditation. This place is a gem. A find. I think the "Doc" (as Dr. Weinrib's wonderful staff members so lovingly refer to her) is a GENIUS!

Miracle Worker!

This morning I was unable to move my head around at all, trust me, not fun. With a heating pad around my neck, I miserably searched for a solution to a strained neck. I decided on getting an adjustment-a friend recommended Body Central. The staff was professional, caring, the environment relaxing & peaceful. Dr. Weinrib is a miracle worker, her sincere desire to help & her expertise truly helped me out so much today. I left feeling 100 times better, relaxed, able to move my neck around most importantly. I was given great advice & even an explanation of what went wrong. I am extremely satisfied and touched by the services I received at Body Central & highly recommend the specials or an emergency save like mine. Their services list is great, I can't wait to go back in for a massage or facial. Great Spot!! thanks Body central!

I still feel great!

I loved the emphasis on healing. I realized that having a massage is not just a self-indulgence, but that I was really doing something great for my health and well-being. I am definately going back!
