I should make clear up front that my boyfriend and I have no interest in "scene," we're just looking for good food. Which wasn't at Butter. The food wasn't so much BAD as it was just PLAIN. I had a fish dish that involved bacon and even that lacked flavor. How can bacon lack flavor? I was bored, every dish was edible and well cooked... but there was no surprise, no diversity of flavor... nothing that said "here is something passionate." On the plus side, I liked the atmosphere (even where we sat in the basement) and our waitress was overwhelmingly sweet and helpful.
Pros: Nice idea, trees on the wall.
Cons: Food that didn't seem to care about itself.
