Fantastic Bread

by camillelynette at Citysearch

We went to Parisi's last weekend. The provolone cheese bread, was wonderful. Carmine and staff were very friendly. The bruchetta was very flavorful. I walked around all day with my cheesy bread wrapped up and in my bag. When we got back to PA, it was still very fresh, soft and buttery. It heated nicely in the microwave and the cheese melted perfectly. I will definetly go back. I liked it better than Vesuvio's.

  • Pros: Food very fresh, and reasonable prices.
  • Cons: Small deli, crowded. But that's understandable, because they are good. Call orders ahead.

Best bread, hands down

by joeg679 at Citysearch

Parisi bakery has the best bread around. I have been going there for over 10 years and my family for about 20 and they never disappoint.

  • Pros: everything
  • Cons: nothing

One of Little Italy's Best

by NY_Insider at Citysearch

As the fabric of the area changed from Little Italy to the now fashionable Nolita, I am glad that Parisi is still around and remains unchanged. I have been going there for over twenty years and I am glad they did not give way to some hipster bar or boutique. To put it simply, they make the best hero sandwiches around. Fresh bread, heaps of toppings and great prices. There's usually a wait at lunch time when the local Police and firemen fill up the place but its worth the wait. Go to Parisi for a taste of Little Italy how it used to be.

  • Pros: Fresh sandwiches, Good portions, Inexpensive

Worth the wait...

by adverts at Citysearch

It took 100 years for Parisi to get around to making pizza (at least I don't think they ever made it before this year)...but it was worth the wait. The sauce is excellent (very fresh) with dabs of "real" mozzarella. The bread is top notch as well.

Recommended to ALL pizza lovers and highly recommened for those who like:

1) sicilian style pizza

2) lots of sauce and a minimal amount of cheese.

  • Pros: fresh fresh fresh!!!, friendly service, price ($1.50/slice)

Sadly Stale

by downtownreview at Citysearch

Once the pride of Little Italy, this worn out bakery has gone stale. Their baguettes are surprisingly tough and their loaves a bit bland. If you happen to have the unfortunate luck of running across their rude service people or brutish management, you'll feel like you are on the wrong side of a bad Soprano's episode.

With so many fine bakeries in the neighborhood, I'd say just keep looking elsewhere

  • Pros: Fresh products, local
  • Cons: Stale baguettes, Bland loaves, Mean management
