I have been going to this salon for about 3 years. I often get compliments on my hair ...so that should tell you something! My first stylist was fantastic but he left the county and my current stylist is just great (Mara). I get color and cuts and great blowouts! So if you are looking for a reliable place and great service, then try this place.
- Pros: Professional, Personalized attention, comfortable

I'm certain the staff is posting fake reviews, otherwise their rating would be zero stars. This place is the lowest of low quality, the people have no idea what they're doing. The only people I know who go there are men, so I don't know why me and my roommate even gave it a shot, but we both HATED our haircuts. They did nothing like we asked and then they actually got mad when we asked them to fix it. Please stay away so this place will close.
- Pros: nothing

Tried this salon on a whim after work...still paying for it 6 months later. They have no clue what they're doing and completely ruined my hair. I have waited 6 months for it to grow back and still have about 6 more to go until it will look like it did before these clueless people touched it. DONT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE!

Every time I walk out of this salon i feel invigorated! I have been been coming to the salon for the past three years and appointments are easily accomodated. There is a great ambiance, fine attention to detail, stylists are friendly and talented, prices reasonable. It is a wonderful and uplifting overall experience!

I love this salon. I am a devotee of Jose and followed him to this location. I am always happy when I walk out the door with my new haircut! The staff is very pleasant and non-pretentious.

I used to go to Jeffrey Stein Salon to get my hair cut and about a year ago i moved out of the city and obviously had to change salons . I ended up moving back to the city about a year after that and i went back to Jeffrey Stein Salon only to see that my stylist had moved away. So I tryed a different stylist and was very pleased by the results. To sum it up i was very glad i went back and tryed someone new instead of gong somewhere else after finding out my stylist had moved away.
- Pros: Stylists are skilled and professional

I am new to the area and I was so nervous about switching to a new colorist. I passed by Jeffrey stein Salon on 3rd ave and 43rd and decided to walk in to check out what services they offer. I was immediatley greeted by a warm smiling woman at reception. I explained my situation and she put me at ease by recommending a stylist and sitting me down to have a complimentary consulatation with her. The colorist she recommended was Mara and she definetly knew her craft. We had a detailed consultation and she listened to everything I wanted and expected. I felt so comfortable I booked my appoinment right away. When I arrived for my appointment I was greeted by a very nice young lady who set me up for my color service. Mara was very detail oriented and I never felt nervous in her care. My color came out FABULOUS! I left the salon feeling gorgeous and confident and thrilled to have found my new colorist! I highly recommend this salon!!
- Pros: Clean, Friendly and Monthly specials
- Cons: none

I have been to many high end salons in manhattan and Jeffrey Stein Salon at 43rd street has definetly made me a cleint for life ! I got the best highlights by Jose and when it came to the cut he didnt just do what he wanted but listened to what i wanted as well. Befor we started anything we had at least a ten minute consultation and he was very open to hearing what i wanted . For that i give Jose a 10 ! Plus the head message during the shampoo was very relaxing and just what i needed after a long day of work.
- Pros: You get what YOU want at an affordable price!
- Cons: NONE!!!
The WORST Cut and Color I've Ever Had

Well I came here to post about my bad experience but it looks like most of the other reviewers already voiced the same complaints I had! This salon should only give guy's haircuts. They have no business working on women as they have no skill or talent whatsoever. I know some of the other reviewers said this was just a "chain" salon but I was willing to give a "chain" salon a chance, thinking maybe some up-and-coming young stylist would be good and I'd get a bargain. But what I actually got was an old, washed up stylist who never seemed to have learned anything about hair, and worse is that I paid about 3 times what I expected to based on the quality of the salon. For what I paid for them to screw up my hair, I could have gone to a GOOD salon and gotten exactly what I wanted. Now I will have to pay again to have my hair fixed somewhere else when I should have just GONE SOMEWHERE ELSE in the first place.
Are you kidding me?

How is the rating so high when more than half the reviews are bad experiences? And what kind of NYC woman gets her WEDDING hair done at a crappy chain salon, anyway? Enough said about the kind of people who should go here. It's a trashy place with a bunch of stylists who obviously aren't good enough to work at the good salons and actually do something with their careers. Honestly if any of them are so good at what they do why are they working at a neighborhood salon instead of a reputable one where they could actually establish a name for themselves as a stylist? A bunch of the girls I work with have tried this place since it's so close by and EVERYONE had their hair screwed up. I guess we just aren't used to poor service, crappy technique, and coming out looking like we just got our hair done by a student at a beauty school training night in staten island. NO THANKS!
