Push Cafe - you can't go wrong...
by Kimberly77
If you're looking for friendly service, good eats and good music Push is the place to go. This up-and-coming cafe/bar (the place offers a full bar!!) is a great date place and is fun to hang out in. You should definitely check it out, I'm positive you'll grow to like the workers, the vibe and their wonderful coffee.
great coffee
by coffeemember
i don't get that place! it's the best cappuccino in the neighborhood, perhaps in the entire city and its right next to starbucks - talk about bad location.
the food is nice - really good falafel and other mediterranean dishes and they have $3 guinness during happy hour. the service is inconsistent but always neighborly,
but all of that doesn't matter - it's all about their cappuccino!
- Pros: the food, the drinks, the huge mugs
- Cons: usually pretty empty, confusing vibe
Rude Rude Rude!
by iaskedforcondoms
I am a 10th grader. My friends and i needed to do a project for health so we researched some places where they gave out free cond0ms beacuse we needed to have some for demonstrating the proper use and to distribute them promoting safe s3x. We found that "Push Cafe" was one of the places we could go and it was close to our school on 23rd and lex. We went there after school politely asking (not like loud annoying kids) if they had any cond0ms we could use for our project. The woman told us we coud find some in the back. While we were getting them a man (the manager i suppose) came over to us and told us quite rudly to put them back. We told him our pourpose and his exact words were "walk to the pharmacy and buy your own effing cond0ms" we told him what if they were for our use would you be telling us to put them back? and he told us then "i'd effing throw you out" we told him he was rude and we left. This is NOT proper the behavior for a man who ooks like hes 56. Didnt his parents teach him any manners?
NOT VERY GREAT STAFF!!
(he didnt say effing he said f*cking)
- Pros: Its always empty so theres aways room for you.
- Cons: BADDD service!!
worst cafe ever
by no_go
If you want to waste your day/evening, wait light years for cold coffee, and be snapped at by the wait staff then this place is right for you! You couldn't pay me enough money to go there again. Don't waste your time. Go somewhere, anywhere, else. Trust me.
- Cons: bad food, bad service, bad atmosphere
There are better places to go for drinks...
by best20
The atmosphere at Push is not the homey place you'd expect from little neighborhood place. The food selection is random and small - although the wrap I had was decent. It's a little pricey for the quality and the service was slow and unfriendly. I'd rather go to Starbucks next door where the staff at least greet you.
- Pros: Not too crowded
- Cons: Spotty service
Great Place which I really miss
by rainhaim
Back when I was living in New York, I would drive into the city from Brooklyn to enjoy some relaxing time at Push. Whether I would come for a cup of coffee, some alcohol or to have a meal the staff were always really friendly. I moved to Israel 2 years ago and Push Cafe is definitely on my top 10 list for places I miss visiting in New York.
- Pros: cheap and tasty food, friendly staff
- Cons: sometimes hard to find parking in the middle of the day in this area
$3 drafts and bad service
by ms_crankypants
I used to go to this place a lot because it's right near my apartment, but I have to say this place has changed. I don't go there anymore unless I really want to reminiscence. They don't play jazz anymore, which was one thing I loved loved loved about the place. Now they play really loud/grungy music, which is totally not their style. The service is pretty bad also. The waiters are always PMSing and don't come to you even though they see your empty beer cup. You have to literally go up to the bar yourself and ask the man behind the counter, "can i get another draft of so and so?"
BUT
They still have $3 drafts all day long and their food is still really good. And it's really inexpensive.
- Pros: $3 drafts all day, good/cheap food, yummy desserts
- Cons: bad/lousy service, music is not that great
don't go here, ever!!!
by pushsucks
I went to this place the other night and the service was sooooo slow and soooo bad and in the end the waitstaff refused to serve us coffee or tea after 10pm (wtf). With so many other great places in town, why go to one that doesn't appreciate customers. The food was, at best, mediocre and the music was annoying. Not bad, but annoying. The other posting are all phoney. Do yourself a favor, don't go here.
- Pros: didn't die
- Cons: bad service, rude wait staff, crappy food
Sooo much better than Starbucks next door
by keepingthefaith
This place is awesome. I come here for good, cheap drinks, good sandwich food, and friendly service. Whether I'm alone with my laptop or book, or with a group of friends on a weekday, or week-end night for a pre-party, I always enjoy it. Tip: grab a seat by one of the tables next to the open wall, it feels like you're sitting outside. The couches are cozy. The food is a great value for the price, as are the drinks. Recently added deserts are yummy and go well with their huge selection of coffees. This place is soooo much better than Starbucks next door. As an added bonus, they have live music on one of the weeknights, I think on Mondays (?). Great hangout!
DO NOT GO TO PUSH CAFE
by fjmic
Do not go to this Cafe. I was harrassed by the management of this establishment. After purchasing a caffe latte for $4.50, I was told to leave because I had not bought anything else. And soley for this reason. I did absoulutely nothing to provoke this. This is not the type of behavior one should get for buying a coffee for $4.50. They were rude and unreasonable. I was apppalled and mortified and feel ripped off. Go next door to Starbucks to get better coffee and respect. This seems to be an on going trend with many smaller business these days. A similar situation happened to a friend of mine at Mickey's Blue Room in the East Village, that place closed a year later. Don't believe the other reviews. You'll get ripped off here and treated like crap.
Great Place!
by rikagx
This bar is right by where i live and its great. They are open late and have really good medittereanean/israeli food. Huge cups of coffee and tea. Try the chai with the ice cream. It's absolutely amazing. It's a good place to study until they dim the ligths and the music gets going. Though the service might be a little slow, the waitresses are very friendly. Couches, love seats, and lots of tables are available. It's not very fancy but it has a great atmosphere.
- Pros: ambience, food, free jazz
- Cons: service
