Heaven on Earth in the form of a Divine Cookie!
by belladiamondz at Citysearch
We watched the Bobby Flay Throwdown featuring Levain's Famous Cookies. Just watching them on the TV made our mouth's water. We had to go find this place and try them for ourselves. It's a little hole in the wall place, but that's where the best stuff is usually hiding! OMG!!! These cookies are absolutley the most amazing things I have ever truly tasted in my entire life. I am someone who eats healthy, but loves to splurge on the weekends and indulge...I workout hard and deserve it....this cookie is Soooooo worth every savory morsel!
Their chocolate chip walnut is my favorite!!!!
The chocolate peanut butter chip is a close 2nd, its amazing.
The dark chocolate chocolate chip is so decadent....
I only regret not trying the oatmeal raisin.
These cookies are massivley huge and heavy...but they are the best cookies I have ever tasted in my life!
- Pros: Amazing, Delicious, Enormous, Savory, Incredible Cookie
- Cons: They are probably a trillion calories =(

Way too sweet!
by CSMobileUser at Citysearch
I really, really want to love a bakery with such a great name as Levain, truly dedicated owners and an address around the corner from my apartment. However, their famous chocolate chip cookies are way, way, way too sweet. Everything ele about them is great--they are chock full of walnuts and other goodies, browned to perfection--but the cloying sweetness is impossible to overlook. I've given these treats several tries, hoping to get past this. Sadly, I have come to conclude this is not the place for anyone who favors pastries that go light on the sugar.

The BEST bakery on the UWS
by UWSMaven at Citysearch
You MUST visit Levain if you are on the UWS. Fantastic Breads (my favorite is the Whole Wheat Walnut Raisin), unbelievable cookies (I won't wax poetic as I know everyone else already has), and my absolute favorite: Oatmeal Raisin Scones. Simple, yet perfect.
- Pros: Nearly everything is delicious
- Cons: Small space/ no seating

We've been eating those cookies since Levain opened. Mt friend Bobbi and myself like to stop by and sit on the bench outside on a warm day and we just schmooze. NY at its neighborhood best. A real gem!!!!

I thought that was one of, if not the best, cookie i've ever eaten. (Chocolate Walnut Chip) Ask if they have any warm ones. The space could be a little more user friendly.
