Another fave for me

by sera8218 at Citysearch

This is the only place I ever go to get a mani/pedi in the city and yay! I get to go again this weekend using a LuxeNow gift card (never heard of it but you can use it at hundreds of nail salons around the city â?? good stuff, awesome gift). Beautiful and girlie environment, all the equipment is really well sterilized, and the staff is suuuper sweet and nice. They do terrific french manicure/pedicures.

Great place to unwind and be pampered!

by newyork12 at Citysearch

After working a long day a few hours a way, I LOVE to come here and unwind. For the last couple of years, I have enjoyed their friendly employees, high-tech equipment, cleanliness, and great quality for a good price. After coming from there today and being refreshed after a day's work ONCE AGAIN, I felt compelled to write. I hope you guys are reading this bloomie, thank you so much!

Horrible Acrylic Fill

by mauichef at Citysearch

The only thing I will give them credit for is that they can get you in on a moments notice. Other than that it was a horrible experience all the way around. I travel all over the country on business and unfortunately have to get my nails done in places that I am not familiar with sometimes. This place was the worst experience I have ever had and the most expensive. You would think in a place like New York City that you would get the best of everything. First the technician was using the drill to sand my nails and it was burning my nail bed. I complained and she ignored my first three complaints. Then she adjusted her machine which was on HIGH! My pinky actually had a red mark that took a week to go away that you could see under the acrylic. Then the nails themselves were ugly and lumpy. For

$95.00!!! I had requested a pink and white and she didn't use pink acrylic. It was the weirdest technique I have ever seen. The she requested a cash tip when I was using a credit care. I would not recommend Bloomies.

Worst Nail Salon EVER!

by fashionistapee at Citysearch

I really don't know what the hype is about this place. I received a gift card to go here, I was very excited to try this extremely talked about nail salon. I wish I never wasted my time, even though it was free, the service was horrible and I won't be using the remaining balance on the card. The manicure was rushed and done wrong. After I told the manicurist several times I was upset with it, she just kept going and ignored me. She barely cut my cuticles and when she did, they were either bleeding or poorly done. She also made it a point to ask "how much tip" am I going to leave her, extremely unprofessional. I've never felt so uncomfortable in a nail salon before. Long story short, DO NOT go there unless you want ugly nails.

horrible service and doesn't sterilize their instruments nerver will go again

by NYC168 at Citysearch

I work near the salon and had gone a few times for quick manicures and pedicures. At first I noticed that the manicurist doesn't ask you if you are willing to spend the extra money for a quick dry and they just assume you will and charge the extra fee. On my second visit, I spotted a customer sitting next to me with nail fungus on each and every toe nail. The Manicurist did the usually pedicure and used the same tools without soaking or sterizating her instruments on the next customer. It was disgussing... I questioned if they never clean the tools and I was told " sometimes, by customer request only and if you want to be save buy your own tools". On, my next visit, I went and pruchased my own tools which costed me a total of $150 and brought my own Channel nail polish. By the end of the treatment, I was told that they placed all my tools and the nail polish inside a small bag. Later at work, I discovered my brand new cuticle cutter was done and so was my new channel nail polish. I will never go back there again, the experience was truly awful.

  • Pros: fast, yet bad quality

Go somewhere else, they don't deserve the business

by hazeyJ at Citysearch

I used to go to this nail salon regularly for over two years. They techinque seemed to be the best and lasted longest. I used to work right by the salon and still would make the effort to go there even though my office moved several miles.

However, all that changed after two recent experiences. The first time was when I asked a lady who had not done my nails if she could give me some cling film (as my techincian had left for lunch). She was very annoyed, snapped at me and refused saying I wasn't her problem. Then she obviously complained about the request to one of the others which is not what a customer wants to experience. I wasn't rude to her, I asked her politely and she made me feel awful. A few weeks later I gave the technician her tip and she complained, holding her hand out and saying she wanted 20 %. I had given her about 17%. I wish I didn't do this but I felt so embarrassed I gave her more and she took it with which I can only describe as disgust. I was utterly shocked and left the place very upset. Nobody there had ever been rude to me before. Some of the ladies are really nice especially Jenny but unfortunately they are going to lose customers with the few mean ones they have working there. They are spoiled by the wealthy customers from The Peninsula Hotel but these customers are one offs whereas I was a regular. Not anymore! Luckily in New York you have plenty of choice for manicures. I'll never go to Bloomies again and hope they read this review and then review their staff.

  • Pros: long lasting
  • Cons: bad staff, don't deserve customers

NEVER GO; Bloody and waste of $

by nc127 at Citysearch

I went yesterday in a crunch before leaving for a trip tomorrow. Worst experience ever. After waiting for 40 mins. with feet soaking in water, a RUDE woman rushed me through a poor spa pedicure ($60+) in 10 mins. Dissatisfied, I asked to correct the errors 3 times, and she was rude and angry. Then came the manicurist, who did a HORRIBLE job. Filed the nails completely uneven, BLEEDING cuticles and forgot base coat -- for $13! They also assume you want Quick-Dry for an extra charge, without asking! I was so unhappy, I only tipped 15% and the rude Korean ladies began YELLING and demanding more $, citing that "their policy" is 20% tip. Same thing happened to my friend who went a week ago.

Honestly, just NEVER go there. More than awful.

good pedicure

by anonymouse251 at Citysearch

I went for a regular pedicure and it was really good, very thorough for $27. Also, you get a mini back and shoulder massage as you dry. Have never had a manicure there so can't speak to the bad reviews before but I would recommend Sherry for pedicures.
