I found Lilypad after I saw a girl on the street with the hairstyle I'd been looking for, and she said she just had her hair cut by Lily. Lily knows how to make a cut look great and last long, knows what will work with your hair type, and just might have better ideas than you do about changing things up. She's got taste you can trust and the skill to give you the cut you've asked for. I've been going to Lily for just over a year and get compliments on my hair all the time. The salon has a comfortable atmosphere. It's like hanging out with the cool girls, not cool as in too cool, but cool as in keepin it real, listening to some tunes, and joking around about whatever.
Pros: Great cut. Great atmosphere. No hype.

This is my 3rd visit back to the pad. for my style( besides running in every few weeks for bangs trimmed). I just love it there.I like the cool relaxed-unsalon like vibe, very low-key and just what getting your hair DID should be about! (I love the music mix there too)lol! I love my style, I love the way she works with hair, and asked me at first how much maintenance do I put in on the day to day?(I preffer none!) yeah , a little more effort for going out. and she explained to me that 9 time out of ten people want something that their hair isn't. Has been this past year and a half since I've discovered the pad. So she cut my hair in a way where I would only need to straighten out my bangs, really, and the rest of my hair dries naturally, This last cut lasted 5 months! and my highlites are so vibrant now, other stylist used just bleach on my hair and my hair would just get blonder and dryer, but she does something differnt every time, lily says its because my hair is different everytime (I guess, after all every 4-5 months?) that the growth will be different, she gives me choices, uses 2 or 3 colors at a time, and I always feel like a sar when I walk out of there. My favorite part is getting there a little early and watching what she does with other people, and they look so hot and I sit there thinking- that will be me in a couple of hours! And the price is so reasonable, I can afford to go every 2 months, but really do not need to, she is truly an artist and cuts and colors so you won't have to. In a nutshell- great funky high end style in an unpretentiuos enviroment and that you can afford to maintain.
Pros: easy to get to, unpretentious
Cons: no credit cards

After i read the reviews on city search i decided to go and try it cause i been looking for a hair cut and i just moved to NYC, the hair cut was affordable but the salon looks kind of unorganized the stylist wasn't much of a listener i told her to cut my hair a certain way and she cut way too much and i even showed her a pictures.
Pros: affordable,
Cons: NO credit cards,

Haricut changed my life. Lilly new me better then I new myself. The only time in my liffe a haircut changed the way I felt about myself. As an added plus, beside all the cutting skill, Lilly is really down to earth. A very genuine person. She should do more to market her hair cutting skills to men.

have been these last 2 since finding the pad! I love how healthy my hair feels after a color( highly unusual) been getting highlights for about 10 years now, maybe more. she knows how to foil so that you are not just uber-blond on your ends. occasionally low-lites too.And man, is she fast! she does not have you sitting around for hours wondering if your hair is breaking off! she is so good and reasonable and I always love my haircuts!
Pros: quick, affordable, close to subway.
Cons: no credit cards

I read a bunch of reviews here on citysearch before my visit to the Lilypad, and I must say I was positively surprised about Lily herself. I have no idea why people on here write weird things about her; I really enjoyed talking to her, she was relaxed and laidback and just really nice to talk to. I even loved my bangs - when I was in the salon, and that entire day. However, in the two weeks after, I've been prepping my own hair, and there's no doubt, my fresh bangs are not straight at all, and that was the purpose of the cut, straight bangs. I think it's a shame though, 'cause overall I really liked both Lily and the pad.
Pros: relaxed atmosphere
Cons: questionable cut

Lily is my hair guru! I absolutely love my hair colour more and more every time I leave there. I have been growing my hair out for the past 3 years and it always looks fresh and updated on the way there. my layers always grow out well, and the way she does colour, you do not get roots in a month. My hair is a dark brown, and I get caramel tones, and blonds, she always suggests different colours and makes it a little different, maybe new bangs, longer layers, get rid of the V in the back, small subtle changes to update my look and keep it fresh! I love that. In the past I've gone to hairdressers that keep doing the same thing, kept me in the chair all day( her whole process takes no longer than 2 hours- color/cut/dry) and I looked and felt stale , you know, the kind of colourist that keeps formulas on file. (absolute beginners) a real colourist can look and match and ask questions- mainly the obvious- do you like your hair, and what don't you like. Her cuts last forever, if I did not need my roots done I could go alot longer with the cut. and I love her music taste too! she is definitely a cut above the rest.
Pros: great music, wine, reasonable, quick
Cons: no credit cards

Lily turned my chin-length hair into a gorgeous updo for my wedding...I will never forget how gorgeous it looked and how surprising it was to all of my friends and family. Who knew my hair could do that! Lily is a genius....that is all....
Pros: Talented and inventive, very reasonably priced

I just love what she did with my hair, I brought a pic of of a straight style that I love, my hair is medium wavy and super thick and dark and long, I wanted to go much lighter. first, she gave me 4 options - nobody has ever done that for me! I explained that I really want those really straight heavy bangs, but I am very low- maintenance (it takes me almost 2 hours to blowdry my own hair straight). so we narrowed it down to thermal reconditioning the top and front , three color highlights, thinning , and textured layers, my hair has never looked better. This is my third time there, and I am amazed at how long I can go. In the past I would feel I need to go every 6-8 weeks. Now its like 12-14 weeks and even then I could probably go a few weeks more. her color technique is quite amazing as well, I've been coloring and getting highlighted since junior high! and my hair never feels dry, it feels strangely - better! than with out color! And so very much cheaper than where I used to go. the special is great - only 120 bucks! I was under the impression that she specialized in long hair, but my girlfriend came with me the last time, and got the cutest asymmetrical choppy bob, we will make it our thing to do, - lily, dumont brunch, beacon's... fun! ps- the music is amazing and eclectic. inside tip- if you can get in on a weekday before 5 or on sunday, its great and relaxed. Saturdays are hectic. I'll just cry if she leaves New York...
Pros: inexpensive, great skill
Cons: no credit cards, does not sell products

Here's the thing about Lily.. the first time you go, you get freaked out by the way she cuts hair. NO MEASURE, NO Even-ing out. She slashes her shears haphazardly through your hair, very unconventional. But, at the end, the haircut looks GREAT! If you go to another stylist afterwards though, they will always comments "Who cut your hair? What a disaster!" becuase no two ends are even. Recommend her for TRENDY hair! One thing though, for thick curly hair gals, she doesnt blowdry hair well. She doesnt section it and smooth it out, she just drys it in a big bunch and it looks frizzy with bad ends. My review is very mixed... the cuts look good in alotof way, but its kinda scary and do plainly to chance.
Pros: Trendy Haircuts
Cons: no credit card, haphazard cutting and bad blowdrying
