Modern decor shakes up the glitzy Times Square scene.

The Scene
Picture your sitting area at home, then add white leather couches, model-like waitresses and a color-changing bar. Welcome to the Living Room, W Hotel style. Young professionals pour in after work to schmooze and unwind, while the weekend hosts a smaller, slightly older crowd. The female servers in all-black knee-high boots and body-hugging outfits make guests feel chic by association.

The Draw
The cocktail and wine list is so extensive it comes in book form, but prepare to pay more than $10 for exotic specialties (no happy hour here). Try the pineapple martini with its skewer of fruit, or a creative concoction like the Barbados or the Jolly Rancher. The location attracts a steady midtown crowd, and a swanky vibe permeates the room.

Great for a private party. Great staff. Head downstairs to the Whiskey after.

I signed up to Citysearch just so I could write this review. I just hosted my B-Day party here and it was great. I met up with friends after work at the Living Room and we had drinks, talked and relaxed in our private area here until 11pm. We then headed to another private table at the club downstairs, The Whiskey. Both venues in this W Hotel were great. The staff was extremely kind and attentive. Drinks were good but expensive...but this is NY. Combinding the lounge and the club made for the perfect evening without having to leave the building. And the music at The Whiskey is always great for dancing.

• Cons: No food served

Fun atmosphere

I just celebrated my 30th birthday here and had a great time! The vip sections were in a great people watching area and our waitress was on her toes. Be prepared to shell out 400.00 for the exclusive service.

Ambiance

This place is a great place for after work and meeting people. This place can be romantic especially if you have a place to sit along the wall. The prices are high but it's worth the bill. Group or company functions are good but you may want to make reservations.

Nice scene, but needs better music

Expensive.... $12 shots and drinks... Scene is cool, but needs a better looking crowd. Went for Halloween this past year, and it was agood time.

Loved it!

I went with a bunch of colleagues after a work function, and everyone had a great time. The drinks kept flowing, and the dance floor was just the right size with just the right music to get everyone moving. I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to go here, but it's a great nightcap.

Nice, but loud

Went with a group of 8 people after work and we were easily able to get an area with seating and a table. The place is very nicely layed out and decorated beautifully. You can tell some $ was put into the decor. Our waitress was very nice, attractive, and a good server, but she did disappear for a little while and had us looking for her while we had no drinks for quite a while. The busboys are very good. We didn't have an empty glass left on the table for more than a few seconds, they wiped spills before we knew it and they constantly refilled the bowls of goldfish pretzels (not the classiest snack, but at least they served something.) The martini list has a really nice variety and I had one of the best drinks I've had in a while, the lemon basil martini. The only complaint I'd have is that the noise level is really loud and it wasn't even that crowded.

Good afterwork place

This place is packed with young professionals before 9 O'clock, after that, people with private parties and tourists flooded the entire room. The drink is satisfying, but the waitress was pretty slow. Our waitress forgot our request three times (and we only asked three times), she forgot to bring back our changes and credit card, and didn't come to take our order. We've left sitting there waiting for about 15 mins and had to go get her ourselves.

• Pros: Good decor, Good drink, good crowd
• Cons: Slow waitress, seats not comfortable, no bathrm on thefloor

RUDE Bartender

If you want crappy service by rude bartenders in an uncomfortably loud venue, then Living Room is your spot. Otherwise, I'd check out anyone of a number of other spots on the same block.

For The Grown And Sexy

This place is awesome its a big change from the regular night clubs in NYC its more relaxing and the dress code for once was actually enforced which hardly happens at NYC night clubs. The music was great, the bathrooms clean. The waitress polite and on time. The scene something I would definitely do again. The crowd mixed as far as age and race. It was an experience in itself. If you go get a table ladies. Located in the heart of the city.
