I've been going to The Little Hair Shoppe for five years, and everyone there -- Beau, Tracy, Petra, Todd, Dane, "and the rest" have always done a great job for me. Friendly, knowledgeable, so easy to work with. Tracy's a top-notch colorist and has taken me from red to sunny blonde without destroying my hair's texture, and that's not easy! She also gives a great cut without making a big deal out of it, you practically don't realize how awesome it is until a few days go by and you see how nicely everything hangs together. I always leave the shop feeling happy and prettier than when I went in and like my money has been well-spent. They really make you feel like a star!

Pros: Relaxed atmosphere, mad hair skillz

Cons: none

A few years ago my friend Kim told me about this great hair salon and I have been going ever since. Tracy always does a great job of cutting my hair! I totally trust her and get so many compliments on my hairdo. I also enjoy the background patter and antics of the other stylists.

Pros: ambience, service

Cons: salon will become too popular and I won't get an appointment

I'm always very very happy w/ Tracy's work on my highlights - she's friendly and chatty, but also utterly professional and highly skilled - I completely trust her w/ my hair. I won't go anywhere else. The little hair shoppe is a true gem in this city.

Pros: Consistent quality,friendly staff

Tracey has been cutting my hair for over a year now . When I moved back to NYC I asked a collegue (whose hair always looked great!) to recommend a hair dresser. That was my lucky day , and the end of searching. Not only does Tracey cut my hair beautifully. We can discuss styles honestly. She tells me what will look good on me, and what will not. She has given me excellent advise on color, conditioning and maintnance. She is never 'pushy' about what I should do. Tracey respects were I am with my hair (I don't have the patience to fuss with it). I trust Tracey and my hair always looks good. The little hair shoppe is comfortable, and all the staff are relaxed and friendly. Go there. See Tracey. You will have a fantastic haircut, and a good experience.

Pros: Tracey,staff and the Cookies

The little hair shoppe is such a pleasure. It's almost like getting your hair cut in your own living room, if your living room came with really good hair stylists. Top notch service in an attitude-free place, with reasonable prices to match. I wouldn't go anywhere else.My stylist Chris did such a wonderful job on my highlights.I was so pleased. Also, I recommend any of the stylist there. In the time I was there, I only seen great work come out of that salon.I will be back and I will be sure to tell all my friends.

Pros: It's a wonderful place

I went here to get the basics done - a Haircut and dye my hair black.TRACY made me CRY! First of all she doesn't stop talking. Secondly, after every strand of hair she "chopped off" she would ask me if its ok. Now if i did know, i would be doing her Job!!!!! Being a student, $200 is definitely an investment for me... especially for my hair. She did NOT stop asking me if my hair was black enough and FREAKED out, after I simply asked my friend if my previous brown could be seen slightly. She claims she gave me a haircut which i STILL CANNOT see.i look exactly the same as before i went to her, maybe even WORSE.She combed my hair and in it, my eyebrow piercing got stuck and started bleeding.By this time she saw her next customer walk in and began to tell me to "GET OUT". not only do I look like a butcher chopped my hair, but neither did she dry it (set/style it) nor put an OUNCE of product in my hair.

Pros: The good reviews on city search

Cons: The staff, TRACY, price

Part of me doesn't want anyone else to know about The Little Hair Shoppe, but they have treated me SO WELL over the years, I want to give them all the business I can...even if it means it will be harder for me to get an appointment. :) For years, I would only go to my stylist in LA because I was too afraid to try someone in NY once I moved here. Beau was recommended to me, and now I'll never go anywhere else! They are professional, relaxed, but most importantly HIP to hair. There's no sense in paying 100+ for a haircut when you can pay less than 70 for a GREAT hair cut. I've gotten hair cuts, highlights, and a perm...I'd trust them with anything. Most of them are trained or have worked for bigger salons like Frederick Fekkai but prefer a smaller, cozier atmosphere. Petra, Chris, Beau, Robert, Tracy and everyone else are an awesome bunch of people! (Beau is my personal fave, but when he's busy they will accommodate you so I've had other stylists, and they are all great.) I had one bad perm, through NO FAULT of their's...I have extremely difficult hair to perm (It didnt look bad, it just didn't take) and they refunded me completely no questions' asked. To me, THAT is GOOD BUSINESS. A friend of mine got a bad cut at Vidal Sassoon and had to deal with months of phone tag with their corporate office, and their service was terrible. If you just need your bangs trimmed, it's only 10 dollars, and they will squeeze you in. Great for in between hair cuts! The Little Hair Shoppe is the BEST salon in NYC. HIGHLY recommended!

Pros: EVERYTHING. prices, atmosphere, talented stylists, great business ethic, friendly, cozy, etc. etc. etc.

Cons: Depending on your schedule, you may have to call in advance if you want a specific stylist, but otherwise NONE.

I have curly hair and have received several awful haircuts throughout my life. Petra put an end to all that! She is a great stylist and always very honest. I once asked her for side-swept bangs, and she combed my hair to that style and asked: "Would you really be OK with this?" It was obvious to both of us that my hair was too short for it at the time, and she recommended growing it out and then coming back for that haircut (which I did). I used to get my hair cut at Devachan, a salon which specializes in curly hair, but the price was at least $125 (and higher now), and Petra gives just as good of a cut for us curly folk. Thanks, Petra!

Pros: Price, Styling Skills, Funny Personalities, Good Laughs

Cons: None, really!

I was hesitant in writing this view, wanting to be selfish and thinking... if everyone finds out how fabulous he is how will I ever get an appointment? But i can't keep this secret to myself. This man knows what he is doing. My hair felt lighter and had a great fall to it after my cut that lasted about 2-3 months! Best cut ever! And I LOVE HIM. He's so funny and kind and warm and knowledgeable. A TREAT! And at a very reasonable price. YAY to LHS! Yay to the little family they've created their! And yay to my resident that introduced it to me!

Pros: Great diver people, Hot tea on cold days, Sassy hair cuts

Cons: Busy Busy Busy... last min. appointments a little difficult
