I have been going to Petra for 4 years, and love her dearly, but I needed a cut last minute and she was on vacation. So, I went with Dustin. My hair is an uber-thick, fast growing mess, (very difficult to style, according to several past stylist) and it had been to long since my last trim. Dustin confidently took the reigns, brought my do under control, and made me look great. I received complements throughout the day and the official thumbs up from form my girlfriend.

I highly recommend him!

  • Pros: Example: best croissants in town
  • Cons: What are the drawbacks?

Out of convenience, i mistakenly went somewhere else and the woman gave me a MULLET!! nothing against mullets but not for me. After a week of just wearing a hairband, I visited the Little Hair Shoppe. Petra saved my social life! She is brilliant and honest. She will tell you the truth and will never try to "sell" you on anything. After holding back from giving her a huge hug (somehow seemed inappropriate and shallow), i vowed that i will NEVER go to anyone else again.

  • Pros: Petra
  • Cons: none

I'm a student at NYU, so I usually only get my hair cut when I go home to Georgia, but my hair had gotten too long so I reluctantly sought out a new hair place. I picked Little Hair Shopped based on the reviews here and its proximity to my dorm. When I first went in, they were more interested in ordering lunch than helping me. And while Dustin did give me a lengthy consultation, he ended up doing exactly what I didn't want. I loved my previous hair cut, I told him to just keep it like that but just cut it shorter, and instead I ended up with this horrible bob I didn't want AT ALL. And then he got snippy with me when I told him I wanted my ends more textured. I even showed him a picture of EXACTLY what I wanted and he still didn't do it. I understand artistic hair license, but when someone is telling you what they want, you just have to do it. He also left my hair completely asymmetrical so one side is much shorter than the other, making me look terrible. So now I have to wait for this horrible look to grow out. I wish I had never gone there!

This salon was recommended to me by a friend over 3 years ago and I have been going ever since. I absolutely love it. While the space is small, don't be fooled into thinking this is some dinky, second-rate salon. This place is top notch! The hair stylists are knowledgeable & talented, the staff is super friendly and the prices are great. There is a reason they have such a loyal clientele.

With a staff as charming as the name, Little Hair Shoppe is definitely a cut above the rest! Nestled right off the Bowery in NOHO this quaint salon offers everything I have ever looked for in hair care. Maintaining great relationships and great prices is the LHS specialty. I have been a client for the past two years and I can definitely say that the vibe there is more like hanging out with friends. Walking in the door you are always remembered whether you are sitting down with Petra, Kris, Beau, Seiko, or Tracy. If you are looking for an amazing colorist then you have definitely come to the right place. Newbies beware of immitation!!! There is only one Little Hair Shoppe responsible for the best tresses in NYC and this is it!!!

  • Pros: Prices, staff

I've been going to The Little Hair Shoppe for five years, and everyone there -- Beau, Tracy, Petra, Todd, Dane, "and the rest" have always done a great job for me. Friendly, knowledgeable, so easy to work with. Tracy's a top-notch colorist and has taken me from red to sunny blonde without destroying my hair's texture, and that's not easy! She also gives a great cut without making a big deal out of it, you practically don't realize how awesome it is until a few days go by and you see how nicely everything hangs together. I always leave the shop feeling happy and prettier than when I went in and like my money has been well-spent. They really make you feel like a star!

  • Pros: Relaxed atmosphere, mad hair skillz
  • Cons: none

A few years ago my friend Kim told me about this great hair salon and I have been going ever since. Tracy always does a great job of cutting my hair! I totally trust her and get so many compliments on my hairdo. I also enjoy the background patter and antics of the other stylists.

  • Pros: ambience, service
  • Cons: salon will become too popular and I won't get an appointment

Tracey has been cutting my hair for over a year now . When I moved back to NYC I asked a collegue (whose hair always looked great!) to recommend a hair dresser. That was my lucky day , and the end of searching. Not only does Tracey cut my hair beautifully. We can discuss styles honestly. She tells me what will look good on me, and what will not. She has given me excellent advise on color, conditioning and maintnance. She is never 'pushy' about what I should do. Tracey respects were I am with my hair (I don't have the patience to fuss with it). I trust Tracey and my hair always looks good. The little hair shoppe is comfortable, and all the staff are relaxed and friendly. Go there. See Tracey. You will have a fantastic haircut, and a good experience.

  • Pros: Tracey, staff and the Cookies

The little hair shoppe is such a pleasure. It's almost like getting your hair cut in your own living room, if your living room came with really good hair stylists. Top notch service in an attitude-free place, with reasonable prices to match. I wouldn't go anywhere else.My stylist Chris did such a wonderful job on my highlights.I was so pleased. Also, I recommend any of the stylist there. In the time I was there, I only seen great work come out of that salon.I will be back and I will be sure to tell all my friends.

  • Pros: It's a wonderful place
